Not surprised, but still disgusted by the absolute greed of these stores and disrespect for their playing customers by denying them the chance to earn packs.
TPCI should bring the hammer down on these stores.
Pokemon Company doesn't care about the players. I mean they let corrupt judges get away with a lot of crap so they don't stop these corrupt stores!
It still blows my mind how Walmart and other stores can break street date. I saw paldean fates on freaking Tuesday this week at Walmart yet my local LGS is terrified and refused to sell until tomorrow
in the case of the Van Gogh card it's sad because Pokemon is actually doing these stores a huge favor, if they played by the rules they could sell a lot of "dead" product with the promotion.
it would have gotten them $3000 of gross sales(not net sales). Or sell the free promos and get $100 a card and make $10,000. Even if they gave away that $3000 in product they would still be richer just selling the cards.
The fact they were caught opening singles to resell is mindboggling from the customers perspective.
Asmodee is not the only distributor in Europe. They have a big market share, but they are not the only one.
Pokemon can't stop shitting the bed on this 1. Who couldn't see this coming.....
A lot of scummy LGSs showed their true colors during the 2020-2021 craze. So sadly stuff like this no longer shocks me.
Anything with money related, it makes some people do bad things that ruins it for everyone. I am wonder, since Pokémon is a very large IP and they have their own printing company, can’t they serialize batches (short term to shock the system) of these special promotions unique to each distributor to narrow down the culprits?
Literally live in The Netherlands myself and cant even get the card for my own collection lol, TPCi really fumbled with this promotion. They could have easily printed a whole new batch of these cards to give scalpers and resellers a middle finger who are only in it for the money.
Im also Dutch, i agree they should screw the scalpers on this one. I mean, they do resell them in pokecenters in USA and UK, so at this rate give the actual kids who missed out on the card due to those aholes a chance to get the card here too
Most of the scalpers already made their money. Releasing a huge new batch would only hurt those that bought them for their collection for big $$
@@ionstorm01 Well, if you didn't buy them to make profit and you payed what was worth it for you then there isn't a problem right? Ofcourse, its still unfair, but on the flipside, a whole lot of Sword & Shield era products are still available and for 15 buck below msrp. So even those collectors can now profit from this, even if they had bad luck the first time.
They do these sales in Australia at big chain stores like EB Games and they card will just have the EB Games logo on it.
Just saw a box with 50 of the EB umbreons on FB the other day. No doubt from a store that 'ran out'.

But thats life. There are always people that don t wan t to follow the rules. That dodge taxes that take advantage of loopholes yadayada. But at some point they pay the price. Just keep doing the right thing and you will win in the long run.

My lcs didn’t have paldea fates out yet when Walmart did. That’s so unfair they play different rules.
Think they need to restrict a lot of this stuff to stores that have been apart of the program for a while to help keep the stores in check
Feel like to may stores are becoming play stores to get product and sell it. Keep it to those who have and want to keep players first.
Pretty dang difficult to do so. all they can do is act on reports from peopel and investigate appropriately. It is a bit unfeasible to get some to watch, all they can do is set a policy, and if a store is found to violate those policies is to punish such stores by not working with them again or other sanctions. It is what they are doing in the states regarding Prize Packs (i..e someone reports that the league is selling them backdoor, TPCi suspends the league's status), though frankly this policy was better than what they had about a year ago.

am i mistaken or was there not a promo for a fossil uncut sheet if you spent $100 on pokemon years ago? i feel like ive heard mention of it through the years and have even seen a couple of the uncut sheets but i was a child when it would have happened so i could be mixed up, but thats the only english buy a certain amount for this promo i can think of. if im even remembering that correctly
Hate stores that neglect their own customers to profit off of Pokemon's good will.... Yugioh has a similar thing where Konami gives stores lost art promotions that they hand out for every $30 purchase. The first day "Magician's Salvation" was released Elitegames on TCGplayer listed over 30 copies for sale lmao. It shows right there next to their name that they are a certified hobby store. They are a store in Rome Georgia on shorter ave (I know because I tested the water and purchased one, and that was the return address). So anyway I snitched to Konami because that's super scummy to just sell all the cards that Konami GAVE YOU to help YOUR SALES, and you turn around and try to take more instead. And then of course I'm sure they "ran out" of the card to give to their customers

The collecting world is crazy, there’s a level of emotion not seen in other areas especially when it comes to money. Stores need to turn a profit
I love Pokémon, don't know how to play, I'm an Mtg player but I do collect both games and singles but I'd be @#$% if I couldn't get a "special" Pikachu card etc. I'd move on and forget.

Pokemon museum in amsterdam 4 workers got fired this week for stealing case full cards.... and 1st day at exit also 1 case
1000's of cards are stolen in circulation 😂😂😂😂 maffia card visitors and workers both criminal
Because this keeps happening, it just making the hobby less and less interesting. I truly believe this downturn has a lot further to go before it hits the bottom. There will come a card/product where scalpers go all in and they will be forced to sell for pennies on the dollar (could even be felt hat) and I personally can’t wait for that day.

I should feel disgusted but I don't. LGS do this crap in all tcgs. In the game I play if you report the store they just call and tell the store to stop and nothing comes of it. Same with breaking release dates.
All you can do as a player is try to find a store that does things right and support them.
The Pokémon company better do something! I've already switched to One Piece :)

Honestly usually we pay €60,- here for a box of 8 €5,- packs, some goodies and a promo. So you pay at least twice the price of a pack for a promo here lol
Greed ruined Pokemon TCG ages ago. Kept everything of sentimental value and moved on to another hobby where I don't have to battle scalpers or have to enter lotterys to find products.

I hate it too, the scalpers have been shifting from Pokemon in my area but one piece is out of control and doesn't have as many products as Pokemon
It's the same with comics. Store and retailer exclusives and variants are locked behind a pay wall, where a store can have an 'exclusive' cover, and sell 1,000 of them for $100 each at a convention. It's been completely ridiculously out of hand. What's worse is that the comic companies make it so their standard covets are bad art, and the great artists sign on for these exclusive covers
This is why i hate about TCG collecting, some stores keep on storing great stuff that they didnt even bother not to giveaway entirely

that's why lgs/cgs are dieing. Pokemon/Magic company tried to help lgs store by providing prize cards so they can give out to players but then the owners just goes and backdoor them. sounds like lgs stores needs to go and pokemon/magic can just sell directly to consumer
