McClure seems genuinely surprised someone could prioritise their family over their career. Which says everything you need to know about McClure.
I think whats surprising is noone has ever really had to say that because clubs are usually so supportive with their families and include them in alot of things the players do. If anything youd think being around the club would be better especially a Melbourne club. There could be a ton of reasons why though and cant speculate too much

As someone who would see Crows players in nightclubs it was a massive shock to me that Kane Johnson became a captain (Richmond) and his mate Goody a Premiership coach. Literally the last two people I would have given any responsibility too. I hope they have their lives in order these days as older and wiser blokes but hearing stuff out of Melbourne im not so sure.

Dees have gone straight sets in back to back season and now miss the finals all together. The list has not been announced by the club as a rebuild project. What club so called competing would allow 3 straight failures of seasons. 22 and 23 they should have at least made prelims if they had such a good culture. Goodwins style has been the most bland style of football for the last 2 seasons. Maybe the players see these other clubs taking the game on and want to play a style more freeflowing, either way unless the club announces a rebuild Goodwin has to be under pressure.

As a Melbourne supporter I've never liked Simon Goodwin as coach. My dog could have coached that team to a 3 peat.
