- This cake is so cute and was absolutely fun to make! With every cake design, I want to incorporate as much little details as possible. The client wanted a colourscheme of pink, purple & blue, so I chose Rarity, Twilight Sparkle & Pinkie Pie as my design inspiration. I hope you enjoy watching it! X

You are so talented. You work is amazing. What type of square material are you using on the bottom of the turn table that you use when you flip the cake? Do you the paneling method to be easier than covering the whole tier? I cant seem to get the paneling method down. I always have a seam or cant cut the panels straight?

Yes I do, I just re-melt them when needed 😊

Beautiful, how did you get started making cakes? I started with my children's birthdays and know do it for others and hope one day to have my own bakery.

I started by accident actually. I was an accountmanager at a bank and I had a degree in Real Estate aswell. I had never seen these kind of cakes untill my former colleagues "forced" me to take a workshop with them for the fun of it 😂. They needed an extra participant, so I was the victim haha. I wasn't all that excited before the workshop, because it seemed nothing at all for me.
As the workshop progressed, I realized it was so much fun and relaxing and there is just something about being creative 😊. The cake turned out ugly though hahaha... My sister's birthday was the next month, so I decided to make her a make-up case cake and everybody was raving and so excited! This was in June 2010.
Soon the word spread that I made cakes, so little by little I got orders in and started a mini cake business next to my day job. It escalated so quickly though - I was caking at night and working at the bank by day. I decided to quit my job and cake full time. This was in December 2010. Never stopped caking ever since 😍

I want to one day quit my job and do cakes full time. I LOVE it so much. How many years did it take before you become full time cake boss? :)

Oeh I can't remember exactly. Whenever I'm making purple I mix in a little bit of pink aswell to make it a bit lively, purple tends to become a bit grayish.
Try mixing a bit of Americolor Electric Purple, Violet & Pink 😊. Hope this helps a bit!
Once you decorate your cake do you keep it chilled in the fridge before delivery/serving? If so for how long?
Yes, I keep it chilled in the fridge before delivery. All my cakes are finished the day before they will be delivered, so I leave them in the fridge overnight.
I deliver the cakes about 1-2 hours in advance so the cake has time to come to roomtemperature before serving 😊.
Having said that, I live in a semi-dry climate and it doesn't get very hot here that often, so the fondant doesn't sweat. Some brands do, but they behave different in any climate. Just test out what works best for you 😊
Wow ! Quick question. How thick are your cake layers ?
The cake layers are about 2-2,5cm/0,75-1" thick and the total height of each tier about 10-11cm/4-4,5"... It does depend on the design though, sometimes I make the layers a bit thicker so the total tier is higher 😊, but in general the tier itself is about 10cm/4".
@@TheCakeBakeBoutique thanks ! If layers are 1" thick how much icing should go in between the layers? When I make layered cakes that are 1" thick the cake is too sweet. How can I fix this ?
@@solacistic It could just depend on the cake recipe & filling you use that it's too sweet. Some buttercreams are overly sweet. I have my recipes in the description box 😉. My filling is about 1/4 in thickness opposed to the height of the layer.
