With Service, I feel like the main question is one of if you value meaningful change more or less than an overall peace. Unlike Facism or fascist adjacent ideologies, I don’t mind this ideology as much, but I do find it harmful given the right circumstances, as it refutes our ability to question authority, especially with the ‘Service to god’ kind displayed in Elden Ring. In the game, the gods do not have our interests at heart. The greater will is displayed as a parasite feeding on bloodshed and death, the rot god uses Malenia and her ‘offspring’ to give itself physical form by any means necessary, at the others aren’t much better. A life of service means you accept the good and the bad of what you do, and act as the arbiter of it uncritically, and personally, I can’t put that much faith in anything I am able to question.

There's a lot of good and bad aspects to each type of purpose in life, and many aren't mutually exclusive. I do aim here to point to the extreme edges of each - we can clearly go into more nuanced takes like you've got there. However, I disagree that service means you accept the good and bad of it.
Critical thinking requires a significant amount of self-reflection, effortful deliberate and consideration. It's not a skill that most possess and takes development time. Applying that skill to our own purpose in life - a service which may turn bitter afterward - is not something that most would do. It's possible, but challenging.
