GMTV start and news (12/10/97)

The start of The Sunday Programme with Alastair Stewart from the morning of 12th October 1997, also featuring a complete GMTV News bulletin. We come out of the Japanese F1 Grand Prix, and, following a full ad break, all the talk is about last night's World Cup qualifiers, with England having drawn 0-0 in Italy and Scotland also clinching their place at France '98. Other stories include increased NHS funding and controversy over the Millennium Dome.
Back on the sofa, Alastair has a look at the day's papers with Anne Perkins and Anne Atkins, with stories revolving around the Tory Party Conference, their views on Europe, and the 'traditional family'. We get dangerously close to a Helen Lovejoy moment with that last one. It cuts out just before they get a chance to really discuss legalising cannabis, so we can only imagine how that went.

ITV Edge at 7am, the cut off was supposed to be 6am.

It's likely something to do with ITV's F1 coverage which would occasionally change GMTV's start and finish time.
