I have a Winchester model 290. The same gun, just with checkered stocks and ramp front sight. I got it for my 16th birthday, back in 1977. I still have it. Countless thousands of rounds have been fired through it by myself, my younger brother, my son and now my grandsons. It has always been 100% reliable.
Love my model 190 but the trigger certainly isn't great and it won't run dirty very long. Also, hope you can help me out here....last time i took my trigger assembly out, the "pin" that seats first before you rock the assembly into place, is depressed. It's spring loaded but my is stuck in and won't come out. I can't shoot it unless i take it tight or hold it in place with my hand. Do you know what i mean? Thanks.
I know what your talking about. That area of the trigger assembly gets blow back and stays dirty. The plunger you speak of is most likely stuck do to just being dirty. To get it out you may be able to soak that end of the assembly in some WD40 or Hopps that may free it up. If that does not work may have to drill a tiny hole in the center and use a screw to pull it out.
I have a model 190 that shoots every other bullet. I’m thinking a broken firing pin? I rack it, it shoots, then I have to rack it again if I want to shoot? Thoughts?
Lucky. Mine is probably manufactured in the 70’s then. I gotta Dura-coat mine or other. Midway sells a gun smithing paint that has ceramic particles in it. So when done you bake it at 300 for 15-20 mins. And it kinda Hardens and is supposed to be fairly durable.

Definitely seems to be a problem in the bolt. Firing pin could be worn down.. Haven't had that issue myself on one.
I didn’t know cold blue works on aluminum?
My 190 has a aluminum receiver is yours steel?
Yes its steel

I have a 190. My receiver is aluminum and pretty sure all 190’s were manufactured the same.
It very well may be. I do know that it was different material. Thanks for the reply.
Yep aluminum
What I can't believe is that you are handling bare steel with your bare hands. Once I have cleaned and degreased it, I never touch it with bare hands.
Thanks for watching. I guess some people just do things different. 😉
good job i do the same
Thank you for watching, I am about to do a 1956 Remington Sportsman 58 12ga
Same receiver as the Mod 250?
Im not familiar with the model 250..
