I'm studying religion in a Master's program at this very moment. Since religion is a part of the social science realm, we have to take classes that discuss many of the things Matt encountered when he was getting his MA. I love to hear his perspective because I find myself in his position quite often, where it feels like most everyone in the room is thinking the same way and I am the only critical voice in the discussion.

When it comes to the burlesque vs strip club thing, I don't think Matt knows what he's talking about. Chicago has a burlesque show place called untitled supper club that's better than any strip club I've been to. First, there women in the audience and bar area so it wasn't all creepy honey dudes like at a strip club. And the dancers were sexy and doing great shows unlike a strip club where they awkwardly and shamelessly walk up u and start flirting.
All the Burlesque I've ever seen is literally the equivalent of cringey drag for straight people, and an opportunity for the women to go on stage to pretend like they are sexy when they aren't - ergo they can only do it in a context like burlesque where they can play it off like its a "joke" or "art" so they feel safe and confident. Furthermore, who the FUCK wants women in their audience at a strip club anyway? I'm fucking gay, and even I don't want them at my shit where they ruin the vibe of male sexuality and annoy the shit out of everyone except for the minority of gay men and betas who exist to be clowns for women, and end up just like them. Most straight men I know who like strip clubs consider straight women going to strip clubs to be the worst thing that has EVER happened to them. Do you realize how asinine straight women are? - Straight women going to strip clubs to be "bros" is perhaps the most classic example of how they are obsessed in involving themselves in shit they don't even like because it's "men only" and they are still butthurt from not being allowed in our treehouse - it doesn't matter if its a strip club, a men's club, a gay club, a sport, a sports party, or even fucking dungeons and dragons - they aren't really interested in the thing, but they need involved to feel cool and ornament their persona, and then spend the entire time on their phone or talking over the event. There are cool straight women, but the annoyingly large and most noticeable demographic of them have no fucking idea how to be powerful, cool, etc. except to imitate the straight men that scare them - even in most relationships they don't bring any fucking hobbies, interests, knowledge bases, etc. and just absorb the life of the man they are dating at the time. Most women don't even like men who are introverts because they rely on their partner to "complete" them or give them a social life and activities. They will spaz if they aren't allowed in anything, even when they don't want to really go - meanwhile almost every straight man would rather be caught DEAD then willingly involve themselves in women's BS.
I'd bet any money that you went to both burlesque and strip clubs with your wife or GF (who is exactly this type of woman, yet in charge of you) - and that is why you don't want / can't handle the pressure women coming up to you, while every other type of confident guy sees the blatant opportunity for prostitution, and doesn't want the background track to pursuing his vice to be some dopey bitch in the audience screaming "YAAAAASSSS, SLAAAYYY KWEEEN" because she needs to be the center of attention.
Hearing "Alex is Jones is so like clearly mentally literally unhinged" was the gayest thing I've heard Shane say, I thought I was hearing the red scare podcast and I could see Shane doing gay mouth.
