The Stormtroopers were a specific special force from the German army that were developed at the end of WW1. They used new tactics and even the first bullet proof west invented by Germans. The idea was Aggressiveness, Speed and Deadlines so they were the best of the best and not normal infantry. They were supposed to get around enemy trenches and clean them up. Also a cool fact that they had new tactics that still many countries use today. So they were very modern like everything what the Germans invented and did ;-) And yes they were a great inspiration for the Star wars Stormtrooper.
Small correction: history's first bulletproof vests were actually invented in Korea in the 16th and 17th centuries. Those were of course specced against ball and black powder guns, but still credit were due.
here is a Kicker, Erwin Rommel, the Desert Fox, Field Marshal, was a First Lieutenant during that time and helped Pioneering those tactics, something which he repeated in the Second World war.

Woohoo! I've never served in the military, and always felt a bit inadequate compared to the contributions of all my older relatives. Even I get pumped by this song!
Fun fact, this and Versailles are the only songs on the album with no differences on both the main album and the history version. Sarajevo is technically a History exclusive on both official and the online albums iirc.
