    Nice recap of memory, you are right!
    King Albert of Belgium refused to surrender, even when he only had about five percent of Belgium left to command. So, he decided to flood the area to prevent it from falling into German hands. Then, he fought shoulder to shoulder with his men, and even had his 12-year-old son at the front, delivering messages.

      And this is why a royal/ruling family or dynasty can make or break a country VERY effectively. A symbol that can talk to you, empathise with you and more is very powerful. I don't think many people would want to become a symbol like that if they truly understood it isn't all glitz and glam and money, but a lot of sacrifices to privacy, personal freedoms and more. Few (chosen) leaders today would do it because they grew up as individuals, as private citizens. They're few but not nonexistent.

    • @RobbyIcks
      @RobbyIcks День назад

      Albert visited the frontline regularly that's true, but he didn't actual fight. And I do mean the fysical thing yes, but most importantly also the tactical thing too. He avoided the British and French pressure in doing battle with the Germans on the Yser. Although he was allied with the British and French, he kept his soldiers safe. True, they did fight at the outbreak of the war, and helped in the push back in 1918, but the main reason he was loved by his soldiers and regarded as a hero to them was that he refused to feed them to the meatgrinder of the trenchwar bombardments and useless charges against machineguns and mortars.

  • @DerekSansone
    @DerekSansone Год назад +1

    Yeah, when Germany entered the war, they invaded France thru Belgium. Idea was to encircle Paris quick & force surrender. Didn't work in WW1, did in WW2. Either way, Belgium fought hard & King Albert was w/his troops, but cldn't stop the Germans (alone). "The Sliver" was Flanders (in Flanders Fields the Poppies grow). British Expeditionary Force landed in Belgium & fought hard also. In 1914, WW1 was still a "maneuver war." Germany was taking a lot of Belgian coast so they cld forward deploy Navy ships & Submarines. "The Race to the Sea" was Brits & Belgians moving North to stop Germans from getting more Belgian coast. Once Brits & Belgians did that, there were No more flanks to turn & (short) maneuver war was over. Trenches stretched from Belgian coast to Italian alps until Allied 100 days Offensive of 1918 broke Hindenburg Line & ended the war.

      @RobbyIcks День назад

      He's NOT familiar with his history. He fakes it and doesn't know shit. Let me, if you please:
      Belgium was overrun and the race to the sea was just the bogging down of the western frontline that wouldn't move for 4 years to come. The flooding was a desperate attempt to hold the Germans up and pin them down. They wanted to move through Belgium to encircle the French, but when the Belgians fought back, the British had their excuse to declare war on Germany, landed in France, and engaged the Germans in southern Belgian, Mons. That's why the Belgian forces were able to regroup behind the Yser and pin the Germans down. The original plan of Germany was hindered andthe French and the British then took charge of the War. It was not the Belgians who prevented death and bloodshed in onther parts of France. That they (British and French) did to themselfs in the Somme and Verdun.

    Do want to feel more pride listen to "En livstid i krig" LIVE from Gothenburg with english subtitles ( the song is in Swedish). This song even if you don´t understand the word they are sing you will understand it with lyrics. It is so powerfull, filled with pride and sorrow for where ever you are from. You will understand when you hear it. It is about the harsh in live of a soldier in the days, but you can easily transmit to harsh times in modern day.... But who will mourn me....

    I really love your reactions so far for two reasons. First, even though you are young (from my point of view) your not "dumb ass". You seem quite smart, pay attention and realize a lot of stuff going on in the songs/videos, most do not realize.
    Second, you are not too much overacting, with Ohhh and Ahhh and WOW all the time. Your reaction feels more real and if there is a wow, then it's true.
    In this genre there is a lot to discover. Amazing vocalist, musicians, storytellers.
    I give you a few hints you might want to check out.
    Nanowar of Steele with Valhalleluja
    Italian Band doing "Comedy Metal"
    Extremely skilled with a lot of hidden referers in their songs
    Bloodywood with the Song Aaj
    Indian Folk Metal band that produces themselves. Kinda Nu Metal with a guy rapping in English and one guy singing/shouting in Hindi with a lot of folk instrument and songs that have a meaning.
    These guys do a lot of social stuff with the income of their music.
    Eluveitie with the song Rebirth
    Swis folk metal band also with a lot of folk instruments and two vocalists (male/female).
    Unleash the Archers with the song Awakening
    They are a powermetal band from Canada and in this playthrough video they show off their skills. And there is a lot to show.
    Have fun, maybe you pick up one or two of my suggestions, would be interesting 😁
    Edit: forgot to mention, I think going on with Sabaton is also a great idea. 😊

      He's an idiot, a wannebe, a moron who thinks he has an opinion on everything. Knows NOTHING about ANYTHING and uses a stagehand to quickly look things up, meanwhile jabbering about franks and euros and Albert II to gain some time. Doesn't fool me. He's dumb as shit 😂
