"Resist and Bite" is a Sabaton song related to Belgium in WW2 Sabaton is Power Metal.
I def concur, that is a badass song
History Metal?
Yes,and the name of the belgian fanclub is taken from this song, The Boar Battalion. Greetings from Brugge, Belgium 🤘
Like said before, check out Resist and bite and get a second "pride moment"
Nice recap of memory, you are right!
King Albert of Belgium refused to surrender, even when he only had about five percent of Belgium left to command. So, he decided to flood the area to prevent it from falling into German hands. Then, he fought shoulder to shoulder with his men, and even had his 12-year-old son at the front, delivering messages.
Epic! Any King doing that, its pretty bad ass!
And the queen did work as a nurse in the war.... If I rememeber well
@@LocoEd79 you are correct in dead, I forgotten to write that, thanks!
They drowned the germans by flooding the Yser they diddn't flood the land that they still had because that would be suicide.
And this is why a royal/ruling family or dynasty can make or break a country VERY effectively. A symbol that can talk to you, empathise with you and more is very powerful. I don't think many people would want to become a symbol like that if they truly understood it isn't all glitz and glam and money, but a lot of sacrifices to privacy, personal freedoms and more. Few (chosen) leaders today would do it because they grew up as individuals, as private citizens. They're few but not nonexistent.
Sabaton is the only band that can get a crowd from a country to sing along and cheer about another country's military. ("Ghost Division" in Poland) Truley an epic band.
Now we'll be waiting for "Resist and Bite" btw they have a really cool history channel where they go into more historical explanations and some behind the scenes of righting the songs ;)
The Archduke mentioned was Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary, the man who's assassination/death was what help WW1 start.
Sarajevo , not really a song but a must to watch to understand history ❤
@@dr8kusit is a sabaton song
@@kingseb2252 by not really a song i meant that there isnt a lot of singing in it. Its mostly spoken text
@@dr8kus it does have lyrics and even if it didn't that's still technically a song
Albert I the soldier King, one of the last kings to lead a command directly.
Then Leopold III, married to Astrid. Baduin and then Albert II before Philippe
The Germans tried to sneak up around the French defence Maginot line and come down in their back by passning through Belgian territory. It was important that they didn't reach the North Sea to accomplish this and Albert stopped them.
His queen Elizabeth worked as a nurse in the military hospitals during the war.
Well, almost. The Maginot Line was built after ww1, to avoid trench warfare and to counter the tanks.
Which, you know, kind of worked, no one ever crossed the Maginot, and none passed Verdun
@@johntheidiot9046 no they went over the Ardennes instead, as told in Rise and Bite, lol
Maginot Line didn't exist until post-WWI. But France had labyrinth of fortifications built around the borders near the German borders. Which was why German High Command wants to go around the fortifications through Belgium. Clause Von Clausewitz also wrote in his On War works that the way to defeat France is through Belgium.
I was at Graspop 2022 when they played this one live for the first time. They were waiting to do it in Belgium for obvious reasons. Utterly epic
Yeah. That was awesome
Their other RUclips channel "Sabaton History" will cover the history of the songs. This song was covered in episode 110 on that channel if you wanted to hear more.
This!
The song you was thinking of was "Bismark". "He was made to lead the Kreigsmarine".
I'm impressed by your reconnection. Your analysis was pretty accurate.
I got goosebumps, too, while watching it, and I'm not from Belgium. But that's one of the best things about Sabaton. They can connect people and let them feel so many emotions regardless of where they come from.
And for the next "feeling proud to be Belgian moment" a reaction to "Resist and Bite"
Greetings from Germany 😊
this is what sabaton does makes you remember history or find out about it.. thanks for always go reations .from denmark
I am so glad that you appreciated this suggestion, make sure you look at the Sabaton History channel linked at the end of the music video, this looks like a reel to reel movie projector superimposed on a maxim machine gun. SABATON sits down and explains the historical context and historical facts as well as some behind the scenes antidotes on each piece.of.music.😊
Loving these Sabaton reactions! Definitely recommend "Resist and Bite" next! Keep going bro
Thanks for your reaction!
I love when the reactor is really interested in the song, talks about his/her feelings and learn from Sabaton :-) Thank you!
Dude take all the time you want! Getting the history from someone who’s actually from the country that’s sang about gives a whole new level of understanding that I would’ve never gotten from some random article. Thank you so much. I’m loving your content and am definitely subscribing!
Im not from Belgium. But this song makes me feel proud and patriotic for Belgium 👍
Sabaton is a master of making you feel patriotic for a country that's not your own.
@@twrampage Haha true, they're best at it
To get a full immersion in history/ww1/sabaton i suggest you to react to all the last album "the war to end all wars" , Starting with Sarajevo (the first song) , that can explain the basic of ww1 with many great songs.
2nd comment. I'm an American. I like that Sabaton does songs/tells stories abt many nations. Not only do we all hv the right to be proud of the accomplishments & sacrifices of our individual nations, but Sabaton allows us to learn abt others. We're generally very Patriotic in the USA. Good to see others taking pride in their Nations (as they shld). I think u shld be proud of how your countryman stood against the odds in both WW1 & WW2. Another "Sabaton Belgium" song is "Resist & Bite." It's a WW2 song. So, Sabaton covered Belgium for both WW1 & WW2.
There is a third song about Belgium, Screaming Eagles, the Battle of the Bulge, in the Ardennes. Greetings from Belgium 🤘
Full story will be on Sabaton History.
Sabaton is Power Metal, in Germany we also call it Panzermetal (tank metal) sometimes.
Panzermetal goes hard
It's settled, it's Panzermetal now 🤘
I'm sure several others have pointed you to Sabaton History on RUclips, full explanation of the history behind the songs. This music is a great way to learn history and more teachers should integrate it into their curriculum.
After hearing this song for the first time I was ready to pledge my allegiance to Belgium and go to war for the king :D
That's the magic of Sabaton - they make you feel patriotic about countries that are not your own! Greetings from Croatia!
i must say, if you feel lost in anything remember there is allways Sabaton History a history channel for sabaton songs
this is just why they made the history channel, people get interested and... they inspire us to learn making them more special in my opinion
I love hearing you speak in your mother tongue.
Mate World War 1 had a MASSIVE Effect on Belgium.
As a Belgian you should really know this.
Plus you guys had the last WARRIOR KING. Your king fought alongside the goddamn Infrantry in the trenches.
I'm Dutch we had no piece in this fight as a nation.
My interest has always been American Culture. I've been very aware of the events of WW2, not WW1. It's not about "you should know this". Many citizens don't know a thing about historical events.
@@AnthonyRay Sorry to come at you like this. it sometimes baffles me how little people know about their own history. BUT on the bright side. if you want to know how the Americans turned the tide in World War 1. "82nd all the way" is gonna be your song oh and you might want to look up "shotguns" they were so damn effective in trenches, the Germans wanted to go to The Hague to put Shotguns on the warcrimes/banlist.
And everybody was: That's funny coming from people that use gas
@@AnthonyRay at Ypres they hold a ceremony every day to to commemorate the fallen of WW1 every day. It’s your heritage. One of the few beautiful cultural things of your young nation.
if you dont know much about WW1 then i do recommend some research, especially you being belgian, since belgian resistance in the opening days is what gave britain time to get onto the continent and likely stopped france from falling early, as the battle of the marne was too close for comfort as it was already.
Can't wait for your continued Sabaton journey, mate. Loving your reactions to these.
Don’t worry about that emotion you felt there at the end. I have long believed that no band has motivated more manly tears than Sabaton.
HE IS SO FAKE! If he would be emotional to be proud to be a Belgian after this clip, he wouldn't have been all over the place with his pethatic attempt to talk about it. He would have known it from the beginning. What's his excuse? He wasn't born yet? You know your history. Period.
more of these Sabaton please. If you're a history fan you'll love most of their songs
I'm replaying it, I don't care, this is my channel
Jesus Christ, you don't just resemble Gigachad...
Another song, another lesson. That's what Sabaton it's all about, be preper
Alright now you should do Sabaton's other song about Belgium, Resist and Bite.
Also given Black Pegasus has now started reacting to Sabaton as well, if you guys ever collab again, Sabaton would be a cool choice, given how both of you breakdown the songs you hear. Cheers.
If you can, read The Guns of August, about the beginning of WW1. Joakim said that power metal is for dragons, beer, and bedding people. Joakim calls Sabaton "heavy metal." Sabaton Effect: Even if we aren't from Belgium, we feel proud! The music video is really good too!
Maan, if you dig history so much you have to check corresponding videos on Sabaton History channel, when you check out their songs. If not on camera, at least for yourself.
I really recommend the other "sabaton belgium" song Resist and Bite, which was second in search result. History there especially badass
Fun to see that when u make a recomendation u listen was happy to make this one esp considerin it's about Belgian history and the song is awsome❤😊
Instrumental Sabaton is close to Power Metal, but they are really their own thing, often refered to as History Metal. Basically they took Power Metal and gave it their own spin by adding marching and hmn elements with a touch of choir.
Loving your Sabaton reactions, keep them coming 💖
I'm so excited to see you react to Sabaton! Here's to hoping you'll be able to do more 😍
Next up from Sabaton should be Resist and Bite, the one you saw beneath this one. Its also about Belgians ofc. A very good song by them.
Nice to watch you as the song hits you. We can all see it. For pure adrenaline watch Sabaton as they open Woodstock Poland with Ghost Division in front of 600k in the crowd. Adrenaline pumping madness of Poles singing along to the Herman Rommel’s Ghost division in the Africa campaign while their Polish grandfathers hated Zee Germans lol Only Sabaton has that effect on people
German not Herman lol Link: ruclips.net/video/9FkYxnm70vg/видео.htmlsi=fea-uxaCTLeyHajl
Do "No Bullets Fly" (Animated version). It's fire!
This song's official music video is spectacular!
I'm from Sweden and I got almost zero memory of old Swedish kings that I read about in school. I may know some of the biggest once by name, but I remember squat about the years that they ruled.
if you want to know who the archduke was (and not looking it up) listen to sarajevo from sabaton. the songs tells the story of the start of WWI
EDIT: another great suggestion is bloodywood - Aaj
First and foremost, I hate war and the idea of it, but one has to appreciate the heady times it must have been to stand your ground against all odds and beat back the massive war machine of Germany (at that time) . It gives me shivers to think what the victory must have felt like .
🙏🏻🙏🏻
If you watch the official video, the band may be in the Yser. I couldn't find where it was filmed.
Excelent reaction... You have to watch "Resist and Bite"... Also about Belgian Army
Great reaction as always ! If u want a recap of what started WW 1 , then i would suggest reacting to Sarajevo. The start of it all.
En bangelijk om gewoon je ding te zien doen, antwaarpe! 🤘
Yes, it is about king Albert, or as he was called "roy de chevallier", the last crowned monarch to fight on the frontline together with his soldiers, at least in Europe.
Albert visited the frontline regularly that's true, but he didn't actual fight. And I do mean the fysical thing yes, but most importantly also the tactical thing too. He avoided the British and French pressure in doing battle with the Germans on the Yser. Although he was allied with the British and French, he kept his soldiers safe. True, they did fight at the outbreak of the war, and helped in the push back in 1918, but the main reason he was loved by his soldiers and regarded as a hero to them was that he refused to feed them to the meatgrinder of the trenchwar bombardments and useless charges against machineguns and mortars.
Yeah, when Germany entered the war, they invaded France thru Belgium. Idea was to encircle Paris quick & force surrender. Didn't work in WW1, did in WW2. Either way, Belgium fought hard & King Albert was w/his troops, but cldn't stop the Germans (alone). "The Sliver" was Flanders (in Flanders Fields the Poppies grow). British Expeditionary Force landed in Belgium & fought hard also. In 1914, WW1 was still a "maneuver war." Germany was taking a lot of Belgian coast so they cld forward deploy Navy ships & Submarines. "The Race to the Sea" was Brits & Belgians moving North to stop Germans from getting more Belgian coast. Once Brits & Belgians did that, there were No more flanks to turn & (short) maneuver war was over. Trenches stretched from Belgian coast to Italian alps until Allied 100 days Offensive of 1918 broke Hindenburg Line & ended the war.
I love that you’re familiar with your history. It looks like BELGIUM was key in the battle in preventing more deaths and bloodshed in other parts of FRANCE. I love history too. I was teased in school for being the TEACHERS PET and I got the highest grades in my class. It was rough sometimes because of the peer competition but I was a history and math nerd. I still at and older age encourage my grand daughter to learn about other cultures, countries and languages. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with your viewers Anthony. Happy Easter ✝️🤍🙏🏽 2024’.
He's NOT familiar with his history. He fakes it and doesn't know shit. Let me, if you please:
Belgium was overrun and the race to the sea was just the bogging down of the western frontline that wouldn't move for 4 years to come. The flooding was a desperate attempt to hold the Germans up and pin them down. They wanted to move through Belgium to encircle the French, but when the Belgians fought back, the British had their excuse to declare war on Germany, landed in France, and engaged the Germans in southern Belgian, Mons. That's why the Belgian forces were able to regroup behind the Yser and pin the Germans down. The original plan of Germany was hindered andthe French and the British then took charge of the War. It was not the Belgians who prevented death and bloodshed in onther parts of France. That they (British and French) did to themselfs in the Somme and Verdun.
Resist and Bite next, you truly ought not miss that
You should really do the accompanying sabaton history episode for the sabaton song you reacts to!
Great song. Need to hit the books sir. I hope your channel grows, and im subed
So you asked about the archduke well his name was franz ferdinand and was assassinated 28 June 1914, Sarajevo, & the first domino to fall that stared ww1
To bad you didn't play the official video of this song. It would become clear what's the song about right away.
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot in Sarajewo, that's the official reason for starting Great WAR.
There are a lot of genres of metal, yes, this one you could call Historical Metal all thou it's heavy metal.
Sabaton sings about history from different time periods. The oldest battle SPARTA. They have Sabaton History Channel, if you're interested. All of their songs are given historical background there, done by historian Indy Neidel.🎶🇵🇱
The official videos tend to get blocked for a long time. They are a pain to get unblocked.
@@AnthonyRay Sabaton will not block you. They like reactions to their music and watch your work sometimes, even comment.
Now, the other song about Belgium is "Resist and Bite". That's WWII.
Your history teacher must've been doing really good job 😁. I like your reactions.🤘👏🎶🇵🇱
It's not Sabaton. It's the distribution company. I have had 2 music videos blocked by them and RUclips. Thanks for the support.
@@AnthonyRaySabaton, from what I understand, owns their distribution rights. They also self manage. Pär Sündstrom, the basist is their manager. 🎸🤘
Greetings from Warsaw, Poland 🎶🇵🇱
Sabaton is powermetal, althouhg powermetal is a broad genre. Bands like Alestorm, Gloryhammer or Wind Rose are all power metal while being completely different from eachother. Still recommend all three of them
You should check out the song "1916" and prepare a tissue😭
If you want the history to any of their songs look up Sabaton History channel. Those videos include parts of the songs though so save them for after the song if you want to have blind reaction to song.
Gotta love a great song that helps you learn also
So Patriotic for every country 🔥
10:40 Franz Ferdinand, archduke of Austria-Hungary and an heir to the throne, who was murdered in Sarajevo in an act that provoked the WW1.
I wrote with Sabaton because I loved the song and Video but was horrified for the Instruments and Equipment. They answered 'Yeah, they were a bit soggy afterwards.'😂
Check the music video.
So you don't know much about WW1? Might I suggest the history version of "the war to end all wars" album. It starts with Sarejevo the start of the conflict, and ends with the treaty of Versailles.
This song made me so patriotic for a country I’ve never even been to lol
Sabaton is power metal, some call it historical power metal.
Sabaton is de max Anthony :) Groetjes vanuit de Parking :p
Great reaction! For a deep-dive into the event that inspired this song, they have an episode on the Sabaton History Channel: ruclips.net/video/lfZACJ0LOqg/видео.htmlsi=WO0jyUCFtToJjX07
I must check foody Friday 😀
Do want to feel more pride listen to "En livstid i krig" LIVE from Gothenburg with english subtitles ( the song is in Swedish). This song even if you don´t understand the word they are sing you will understand it with lyrics. It is so powerfull, filled with pride and sorrow for where ever you are from. You will understand when you hear it. It is about the harsh in live of a soldier in the days, but you can easily transmit to harsh times in modern day.... But who will mourn me....
I would also call it "Power Metal"!
you can react to improver | don't be shy(beatbox tiesto & Karol G cover)
Pls man
I think you could learn a lot about our history when you watch the Sabaton History Channel. 😅
Oh no he replays the epic awsome and amazing historical power-metal song whatever will I do?? I'll enjoy it that's what hahaha
I really love your reactions so far for two reasons. First, even though you are young (from my point of view) your not "dumb ass". You seem quite smart, pay attention and realize a lot of stuff going on in the songs/videos, most do not realize.
Second, you are not too much overacting, with Ohhh and Ahhh and WOW all the time. Your reaction feels more real and if there is a wow, then it's true.
In this genre there is a lot to discover. Amazing vocalist, musicians, storytellers.
I give you a few hints you might want to check out.
Nanowar of Steele with Valhalleluja
Italian Band doing "Comedy Metal"
Extremely skilled with a lot of hidden referers in their songs
Bloodywood with the Song Aaj
Indian Folk Metal band that produces themselves. Kinda Nu Metal with a guy rapping in English and one guy singing/shouting in Hindi with a lot of folk instrument and songs that have a meaning.
These guys do a lot of social stuff with the income of their music.
Eluveitie with the song Rebirth
Swis folk metal band also with a lot of folk instruments and two vocalists (male/female).
Unleash the Archers with the song Awakening
They are a powermetal band from Canada and in this playthrough video they show off their skills. And there is a lot to show.
Have fun, maybe you pick up one or two of my suggestions, would be interesting 😁
Edit: forgot to mention, I think going on with Sabaton is also a great idea. 😊
Correction: HE'S A DUMB-ASS !!!
LET'S Gooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you react to "No bullet fly" ?
