The NEW bay hours: 8 am-4pm / NO entry after 2pm
Only 720 guests per day / 120 per hour

About Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve
"Hana" is the Hawaiian word for "Bay" and "uma" refers to the curves of the indigenous canoes.
For many years Hawaiian Royalty used Hanauma bay for fishing and recreation
Hanauma Bay is a must do for your Oahu island itinerary. It is one of the premier destinations on Oahu if you want to get acquainted with hundreds of tropical fish and marine life. It offers an overall great experience whether your a beginner or an avid snorkeler and it's for people of all ages.

I remember the bay as a young Hickman USAF man from 1960 to 1968... Also... many other beaches... and.. All the Island places back then.. Great menores ... So sorry I left...!!!

I saw a Honu there a couple days ago. Love Hanauma ! I'm glad that they are closed Mon and Tues, instead of just Tues. Need to let the Bay breathe more !

Very nice. Now where does all the Ohana go diving for a kai..?!? C'mon, you can tell me because I know it isn't at any tourist spot. We love diving for; Kina, Crayfish, Paua, Muscles, & anything else we can get our hands on over here in Aotearoa. Within reason of course Lol.

In such a short few months, the bay has had wonderful recovery! I was reading about this online when it gives me hope. I hope they keep it limited to the pilot numbers. Also where did you find the musubi for such low price? Looked so ono! I hope you had a wonderful day there and as always mahalo for your awesome videos! 🐠🌊👏🏽
🌴 Aloha!~ Samantha, When I go hiking or swimming, I always buy musubi, which is easy to eat. I've tried musubi from many places but 7-Eleven's musubi taste the best and plus the price is cheap. Mahalo for watching!! ^^ 🌈🤙

Love this place. Just like swimming in an actual aquarium! Are they still selling the fish food in pouches? I just threw sand and had the same effect...

They stopped selling fish food because too many people feeding and sometimes the fishes get feisty & nibble your fingers. They can hurt.

I remember when fishes were more abundant here. I’d be in awe when a whole school of fishes engulfs you in their school, when a four feet one hundred pounder comes and bump you or turtles swim right in front of your face. I always called HANUAMA BAY the “worlds biggest fish tank”. Sorry to say the bay is nothing like it used to be!☹️. PROTECT THA AINA! LIMIT THE USE OF THE BAY!

It is what it is and while we were lucky to come way back when, it is a lot better than it was 4 years ago. I love it when the manini engulf you in their school-clouds of them.
Did you use a waterproof casing with your GoPro?

OMG what a tourist trap (remember was open/ free) drive down, drop off,,, so sad to see what they have done to "her"(island) ,getting almost to sad to see 😢 ( for me ) , all cool spots are now tourist sites, ( with paths etc,) we had to climb ropes in the mud =good stuff!!!< oh what ya'll have missed, but nice to "show. " I dident have a cell phone/go-pro to take memories , so still THANK YOU JOHN! (snorkeling took me back) I will never be able to see again, so thank you more than you know.

Use to be free, not crowded, clear water, some locals some tourists (choke japun) ...hike the mo’o from the head to tail...get flushed in da bowl.
I remember going there back in the early 1970’s when In was stationed at a Coast Guard unit in Kaneohe. There’s was no charge back then.

This is so sad to see all the coral is dead due to diver in pack. If they shut Hanauma bay down tomorrow it will take over 1 million years for it to recover.
It looks so dead there. I can't imagine how beautiful it was before humans trampled and destroyed all the coral reefs throughout the decades.
