- With the long 4th of July weekend upon us, we decided to load up the 4runner and head East, with our sights set on exploring down highway 395. After a great first night along the Stanislaus River, we're heading for Sonora Pass to reach HWY 395. Sonora Pass is one of a handful of ways to get to the Eastern Sierras, with a 26% grade (!!!!) and a max elevation of 9,624 ft / 2,933 m. Once we hit the 395, we're pointing South and heading for the town of Lone Pine and the famously breathtaking Alabama Hills.

Have you made it out to Alabama Hills? There's something really special about that place once the sun starts to set! Check out our merch here: www.ouradventureoverland.com/shop
Hwy 108 is my default route into the Sierras, absolutely beautiful.
That dog is so cute.
Such pretty landscape
It really is. There's just so much to see out here!
Add some fresh lime juice to that cocktail and you've made my favorite drink! A Kentucky Mule!
You're spot on there Lucas! Somehow I never remember to pack limes, so this is my poor mans' Kentucky Mule! haha
Awesome video! Love the content!
Thanks man! You buy that Tacoma yet?? haha
@@BenStinnett haha, due to the lack of funding, those plans are currently on hold!
Ben, this must have taken so much work to edit. This is just a brilliant video man. Every video is simple and your presenting style is excellent! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! This trip is definitely taking the longest for me to work through (part of the issue is that I just came home with SO much footage). Really appreciate the comment!
Hi Ben: loyal subscriber here and enjoying all of these uploads on your channel. Keep up the great work!
Thanks David! I'm glad to have you here!
You’re knocking these videos out of the park, bro! Awesome content!
I appreciate that man! Thanks for watching!
Hey Ben, you have given me that little extra motivation to finally get out of the bay area and explore. I have been wanting to check out Bowman Lake and break in my 2020 4runner. I'm planning on heading up there with my dog later this week. Thanks for the inspiration.
Go for it! That'll be a great break-in trip for you!
Just went there for the first time a few weeks ago. beautiful little lake. 🤙
Hello Ben! Love all your videos!!! Keep up the awesome work!!! Hugs!
Thanks so much Pat! Hope you guys are well!
Ben, really enjoyed this video! Thanks for putting in the time to produce it. I was wondering how you got such a hot wife or girlfriend , the I saw you just keep her intoxicated 😂 just kidding! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos!
Thanks for watching Tom! Haha, you're right, I'm a lucky guy!
Hey man, great work on these videos. I just found your channel. I'm in your neck of the woods and vehicle shopping with the goal of doing many of these same routes. Any thoughts on waiting for the new Bronco Sport vs. getting a Subaru or something else? The RAV4 TRD kind of blows my ~30k budget unfortunately.
Hey Toby, sounds like a question that a ton of folks are considering right now. I personally think it's better to wait for the first wave of Broncos to hit the road, and let Ford work out any of the potential kinks that arise (but I'm not an early adopter of any new tech, I like to give new products at least one cycle in public hands before I buy in, lol). But of course, I'm a big believer that you shouldn't let the specific vehicle hold you back, because there are plenty of ways to get out there and explore no matter what you drive (you just have to make sure your expectations match reality). Good luck!
Great video! I'm not sure what you mean by foxhole shower, gonna need you to demonstrate that so we can all see what you're talking about.
😂 I had to cut that bit out to keep things family friendly
Sweet vid! Where was that first area you stayed?
Hi Ben! I noticed you're coming from SF. Have you had any issues with people messing with your rooftop tent? I know there's been a lot of tom foolery going around the city lately. What's the best way to keep your gear safe?
Hey Jerry! Good eye! One of the reasons I went with the iKamper was for the locking latches, to hopefully prevent any of that tom foolery. I haven't had any issues with the tent, or with gear stored on the swingouts (knock on wood!)
