Hi sis Magdalene, I would like to hear if you speak iban with your husband maybe in another upcoming video 😃😃😃... As I need some inspiration on how you teach him 😄 my husband just started learning our bidayûh language 👍👍👍
When you said dooi dooi, it reminds me of "money" because in Malaccan Kristang language, doi means money. Also how Malay got the word "duit". We got it from the Dutch VOC that took over Malacca in 1641.
if you visit the Portuguese settlement in Malacca and listen to the old folks speaking in Kristang, you can hear Dutch words here and there. Not many young people can speak since they tend to converse in English. One Dutch word they commonly use is "atapel" (aardappel) for potatoes instead of "Batata" in proper Portuguese. Another one is "Kukis" for cakes, instead of "bolinhos".
Hi Nick, I guess you are on a spouse visa in Malaysia because I believe Malaysia would not grant permanent residency to foreigners even if they are married to Malaysian. Right?
@@GlobalGibbon this is the problem in Malaysia. On paper, they say after 5 years of successful marriage, the foreign spouse can apply for PR but in reality this never happens. They don't practise what they preach there. I guess if your wife comes to the Netherlands, she will get PR after 3 years?
