Malaysia and Netherlands are two countries with many differences in term of climate, culture and many other differences. Each has its advantages and privileges. Nick, you have lived in Malaysia for a long time and of course you have been captivated by all the uniqueness, borneo rain forest and culture in Malaysia especially in Sarawak. An interesting video today and definitely your best
Thanks for watching the video! Both countries are indeed very different. I can't wait to go back to Holland for holidays and make some videos there as well!
When you said the person who is related to you who just hangs around in the house, we had one - a cousin who I consider very much part of our inner family. She would just pop up randomly, hung around, stayed over for a couple of days, did house chores, etc. you know, just like *family* family. She passed away in a road accident...on her way to visit us. That was so tragic. Felt like I lost my birth sister. Sob story done.
Hey! Thanks for sharing this. We have similar people in our family here in Malaysia. Perhaps they're not related but they are family! I am very sorry to hear she passed away. Keep her memories alive. 😊
Hi, Nick it's very interesting to live in two different countries, natures, cultures and lifestyles , I love to listen to your videos always interesting
really hope government of Sarawak recognise the good things that you are doing for promoting Sarawak to the world and appoint you as Sarawak ambassador to introduce Sarawak Malaysia to the rest of the world... especially to European countries....Thank you very much
I need to refresh my memories n my knowledge of Malaysia n d history. Have u heard of d Sultanate of Melaka, before Malaya, before Malaysia. I'm not sure where was d capital of this Sultanate but it was long before d invasion of portuguese, dutch n british. D Melaka trading port was so alluring to d western world during d 15th century. Back to present time, KL is relatively a young unplanned city, if anyone wants to compare to d any big city in d european continent. Having said that ...
That was d reason I was aiming to work n live in europe. When I lost my work motivation soon after completion of d KLCC project, I made few honest mistakes with life decisions. During that time, I had an opportunity to visit Andalusia, Spain n fell in love with d long history of d country n it's civilization. I also came to know about d UNESCO world heritage sites, most of them in d european continent. I didn't make any mistake wanting to work n live in europe coz I know d abundance of modern knowledge in this continent. Some ancient cities in d world stand through d test of time n exist to present time, some became ruins. All d humans intelligence n their civilization allure me esp in europe. It's only matter of time that I'll move forward again in life.
I love yr accent Nick! As an English teacher myself, your channel is really great for English learning! Is English yr 1st language? Do you speak other languages with yr fam back in the Netherlands?
Hey! Thanks! Dutch is my native language and English my official second. But I believe my English has become my first language now. Haha. Thanks for watching!
Hi Nick - You were talking about the monsoon season and I have a question about the rain in Kuching this time of year. Is it a steady all-day rain, or is it more like very heavy rain for a few hours for just part of the day?
Heya! It rarely rains multiple hours in Kuching. Normal showers last about 30-60minutes and they are heavy. Only a handful of times in the year it rains a few hours moderately.
Nice explanation Sir! Love your content. Btw sometimes I look at your face is really similar with Karrel Abraham 😅. Maybe u have a kinship with him 😅 XD
well Nick before I forget I am hoping that first week of June 2023 you will be around with us the Bisaya community celebrating Pesta Babulang, an annual occasion that can be found at the Sarawak Tourism board program ....
Thanks Nick for your lovely video👍. There is a difference I noticed in my family. When I visit Malaysia I eat Malaysian food but when my sister in law visits the Netherlands she orders or makes Malaysian food😅🤣…I know….”stamppot” you love or hate it.
What interesting to me is Malaysia have Malay and obviously Malaysian, England English, Japan Japanese, Mexico Mexican, Korea Korean, China Chinese, Thailand Thai, and then comes The Netherlands 😅 ...where does the term Dutch coming from? 🤔
Specifically the phrase High Dutch referred to people from the mountainous area of what is now southern Germany. Low Dutch referred to people from the flatlands in what is now the Netherlands. Within the Holy Roman Empire, the word Netherlands was used to describe people from the low-lying (nether) region (land).
Right! It doesn't really make sense. I am not too sure actually. I think it comes from the German word Deutch, which means German. Deutchland is Germany in German. So perhaps it came from there!
When I went to the Holland last time Red district really shocked me. For I have no idea what it is there... I have my head down while almost run away... 😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Nick.. nice sharing from you... but how I wonder is Malaysia has been colonized by British before and Netherland was colonized Indonesia...our border has been saparated once time before by them.can you share your opininion about this... and mainly point.. why are you really like my country
Now you as Ducth living in Malaysia explained the differences. There is Malaysian living in The Netherlands explained the differences recently so can you vouch for her points? ruclips.net/video/yaCpJUkelZw/видео.html
You are no longer white as Msia is very hot n humid😄😄😄 I love temperate country especially during fall and spring season, the scenery is so beautiful. Holland is developed and advanced country cannot be compared with Msia
Dark side of the Netherlands. Despite being a colonial power who controlled a large number of Muslim and nonwhite subjects, there are Dutch politicians who hate Muslims, Islamophobes and immigrants.
Why do employers ask about religion when applying for a job? Because there are many holidays and respect other religious festivals.. that's the answer🇲🇾👍😁🚬

Javanese and Malaysian are not the same, but Indonesian is almost the same as Malaysian, only Indonesian has a lot of Dutch influence.
