      For all the complaints that Marvel movies in general do the same things over and over again, it should be noted that Phase 4 did take the most creative swings. Obviously it doesn't work for everyone, as everyone has different tastes. Going for the conventional, more often than not, is what'll get everyone on board. Did every creative swing Marvel made during Phase 4 land? Not necessarily. Everyone's been polarized by stuff like Eternals, Ms. Marvel, Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, and now She-Hulk, but no one can say that these have relied on the standard formula that the franchise has been built on. Maybe they have gone "too far", but at the same time, I appreciate the variety.

    The reason Banner has an alternate personality is because of his childhood upbringing. The gamma did not create it, but it certainly enhances what happens to him when he changes. Jen had a much different childhood than Bruce did. Bruce's dad was a real piece of work.

      @Miguel Garay I'd argue, he was pretty power hungry and aggressive from the start, he basically volunteered (actually asked) for the procedure because and I quote, "No, I'm a fighter. I'll be one for as long as I can. Now, if I could take what I know now, put it in the body I had ten years ago, that would be someone I wouldn't wanna fight." And later, he forced Samuel Sterns to give him more power, and that's just with the initial serum. Like every super soldier serum before and after, it only made him more like what he already was.

    It's not that simple to make a Hulk. For most people, Bruce's blood is toxic, but he and Jen are related, and whatever necessary similarities in genetic arrangement existed between them, it was enough. The blood affects Jen differently, or it's a version of Bruce's "Smart Hulk" blood, or their personality backgrounds are different. But whatever it is, the blood affected Jen differently than Bruce. But it worked for her.

    • @lillies2301
      @lillies2301 6 месяцев назад

      That could also be a reason, but i also think it could be that bruce is the outlier, being the only who can't control himself when he transforms. In the comics this was usually explained with bruce being the only one who suffers from dissociative identity disorder due to immense amount trauma from his childhood, fracturing his mind and creating another personality in the form of hulk to help bruce cope with the trauma. I was kinda hoping that this series would explore this but they could use a different reason as i dont think jen being a woman is going to cut it.

    • @1monki
      @1monki 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@lillies2301 Yeah. I also referenced the identity disorder, "their personality backgrounds are different." The scene leaves the possibility open. Therapy is part of Bruce's control program. He also says the blood works differently with Jen. Future projects could go in either direction or take parts of both. The show isn't trying to give a definitive reason for why they're different. It's not important for the story they're telling. The real reason they're different is that the MCU doesn't need two characters dealing with the exact same issue. The sci-fi answer can be decided when it becomes important to the story they're telling.

    A few facts about the She-Hulk that might interest y'all. First of all, this is the most comic accurate series/Movie Marvel Studios has made.
    The She-Hulk (Shulkie to her friends) was the last character Stan Lee created for Marvel before he retired. Since he was on his way out, Stan didn't want to create a female character that was driven by emotional extremes. He thought that would be bad writing. He also wanted her to be more than a Hulk knock off. So he created the Savage She-Hulk, he gave her control of her personality/powers. He made her lawyer, so she could talk her way out of situations she couldn't brute force her way through. Stan wanted her to be different, not just from the Hulk, but from everyone else in the Marvel Universe.
    A few years after Savage She-Hulk got cancelled, another comcis creator, John Byrne, reluanched her as the Sensational She-Hulk. Now Mr Byrne took what Stan wanted and ran with it. Stan wanted her different from the Hulk, Stan wante d her different from evryone else in Marvel. This is when her comic book became a comedy, and this is where she started breaking the fourth wall. So for years Shulkie was the star of a legal comedy comic book and she was the only character at Marvel that talked directly to the reader. These are the things that made her different from the Hulk and every other Marvel comic book, and what makes her series different from the rest of the MCU. This does not make her popular with most comic fans This series is based on the Senstional She-Hulk series. And I am gald you enjoyed the show.
    Don;t worry though, she only breaks the fourth wall in her own comic book, she is much better behaved when guest stars in other people's titles.

    Rico man I love you but man I have some major respect for her dealing with you. Haha. Its like watching the real life She Hulk. The show is really playing on a few different Hulk comics and TV series. The reason She Hulk was created was an attempt by Marvel to get the rights before the TV company that had the rights to the late 70s Incredible Hulk show to create the character and steal it. Marvel used the She Hulk to play a female Hulk but soon realized it could do a spoof on comics by John Bryne who did Fantastic Four and the next run of She Hulk. The Deadpool creator got his idea for Deadpool by reading the She Hulk comic. Using sexuality and making fun of the typical comic nerd was the hand in hand message for the character not only in the She Hulk comics but also when she joined the Fantastic Four. They used her to talk back to the reader and challenge typical fanboy views of comics. Bryne also used She Hulk to attack his own profession as a comic writer and how silly most comic stories can be. You will see it in this show and they really make a call back to the comics in the last couple of episodes. If you think they are making up stuff for the show they are not. This was always part of the She Hulk comics.

    Her comic origin was much more interesting. In the comics, Jen is defending a criminal in court. A rival criminal organization guns her down in her driveway, just as she and Bruce get out of the car. Bruce uses her doctor neighbor's medical equipment to do an emergency transfusion to save her life. Also, in the comics, Jen is a VERY good lawyer. They made her seem incompetent in this show.
    Edit: Just noticed I left you on a cliffhanger, lol.
    While Jen is recovering in her hospital bed, the guys that shot her go to her room, disguised as hospital personnel, to finish the job. That's when she "Hulks up" for the first time. Basically, the hospital gets partially destroyed, along with the criminals getaway car as they flee for their lives. In the end, she catches the criminals and gets them to confess in front of the cops on the street.

    Hi. So, just because it comes up a lot - it's not that it's simple to make a Hulk. It's that Jen and Bruce have similar enough genetics due to being cousins. I wish they would've been a little clearer about that in his explanation, bc i feel like it was too easy to miss.
    I did like this show, but tbh, it did feel kinda slapped together and rushed, plot-wise, so a lot of moments felt a bit ham-fisted, and some of the dialogue just ... didn't work.
    But that's just my opinion! I'm really loking forward to seeing what you guys think about it.

    The series in my opinion was fun for what it was. What I don’t like is how the show runner refused to follow source material to make a character that is only superficially the same. Nikki is amazing.
    Jennifer does not have the same issues as her cousin Bruce. Just like the term is not used in the Moonknight series which is dissociative identity disorder (DID) which Bruce Banner and Marc Spector suffer from. This is why Bruce and Hulk are separate identities whereas, Jennifer is Jennifer always.
    By the way, this personality is one of Bruce’s others which in the comics is Professor Hulk, this Smart Hulk name is trash. Like “Lyin’ Nate Moore” indicated, Marvel Studios no longer uses comic book writer or fans; he says it is because we fans only think we know what we want. He prefers a Rick and Marty writer over seasoned marvel writers and strays away from source material.
    That being said, the series was still enjoyable it us just not my favorite and I would tell any comic fan to give it a viewing. I prefer Jen remaining in her She-Hulk form as in the comics but that is time consuming and expensive so I understand why they have her in her traditional human form more so than her hulk form.

    iTS NOT as easy as getting hulks blood to be a hulk. most people would die if hulks blood got in them, but jen is his cousin they have similar bloodline so it worked
    emile blonski became a mutated hulk because he already had a modified supersoldier serum in his blood thats why his tranformation looks more deformed and monsterous
    in the comics emile is permanently stuck and mutated as abomination
    and other hulks created who are not related to bruce are usually inferior copies or deformed and weaker than him

    You know, I had fun with the show. My problem came towards the end. As they set up the ending, I was SO certain that they were going for some sort of trial because of what happened to Jen. I really felt that it would have been a perfect climax for her to give a great and semi-dramatic speech adressing abuse and how it can be so much more than physical abuse. I really felt it was a huge oportunity missed there, mixed with the goofy character of the show, I thought it would be great to highlight how a single moment can turn life from light and everyday to something that will follow a person for their entire life and they will have to learn to live with... instead they went with something that, to me, didn't even feel like a season finale.Trying not to spoil, hopefuly it will make sense soon, but every time I remember the series it reminds me of that feeling of a missed oportunity at the end...

      Too many people were too busy being angry and trying to make the show other than what they said it was going to be. People were attacking the show before the show came out like it was some vendetta, and as we saw in episode 2 (the fake social media attacking She-Hulk was pretty much the same as the real life social media attacking She-Hulk pretty much word for word) the show was clearly aware that it was going to happened (probably there were people misogynistically attacking the show since it was announced it was coming because they didn't even know that She-Hulk is an actual, comic character). Like, so many people were so offended by Jen saying what she said in the first. Both Bruce & Jen were wrong. They both were right. The ending of the first episode showed that, but people were too busy paying attention to the wrong things, not to mention, many coming into the show already hating it before it even aired, and then get even more made because they didn't understand the show...

Jenn doesn’t have to deal with that because she grew up in a loving household.

Superheroes have to die/retire sometimes, and other people naturally take the reins. Sometimes it’s men, and sometimes it’s women. Bruce Banner isn’t out of the picture yet, and Thor and a variant of Loki are still in the universe. Yes, there are the female Thor and Loki “variants” in Jane Foster and Sylvie, but in no way are they COMPLETELY replacing them. And She-Hulk isn’t replacing the Hulk at all.
