Yes Ronaldo got injured in his prime but it’s not like a derek rose story. Ronaldo played long enough to accomplish a lot in his career and to be considered a top 10 player all time. It’s just that in his prime we all knew we were seeing the greatest of his era and maybe ever and had he not had the second half of his career lost to injury he would have been top 1-2 all time. It’s like if Lebron or MJ got injured after winning a couple of titles and scoring 20,000 points. You know what you’re looking at, it just didn’t last long enough. But he’s the most complete player of all time, best combination of size, speed, skill and power. You’ll get no argument from anyone on that.
That doesnt make him the most complete player tho, it makes him a complete athlete but not player, he is still the 2nd greatest ever imo
This is so dumb to say top 1, 2, 10 all time or whatever for football
Positions are way more different than in basketball, football is more a team sport than basketball, the tactics matters more etc
And defenders are overlooked
Also there are literally different leagues with different level etc

@@Nothing-lr3dt he was complete, in inter they moved his position to the number 10 and he’s long field passes and assist were racking up but he had to be moved back to his natural position cus serie a in the 90’s and 80’ was very very rough. If inter played Ronaldo the way Barcelona did we would all be having a different conversation. His knees deteriorated due to all those crazy hits and tackles directly at his legs and him having to pack on more weight with muscle. That doesn’t compliment his silky smooth style of play, he had to remain light and upfront to score or lead counters.

Ronaldo was an athletic beast and defenders couldn't keep up with him anytime he got the ball because of his speed and agility. Ronaldinho had an insane touch and finesse which makes him look really smooth and silky like you said. They're both GOATs of that era and both accomplished a lot with complete different styles. Personally thats why I love this sport cause every player has their own style and play.
Imagine brazilian national team in 2002 with those two in the front. There was Rivaldo to, another one you should react to.
It was Rivaldo and R9 front two with Ronaldinho in the ‘hole’ behind them.

The best front two of all time though is R9 and Romario.
They were going to start at the 1998 World Cup, but then Romario was cut at the last moment because of an injury. That cost them the world cup.

You’re not too wrong about power versus agility though R9 is also one of the best dribblers of all time. Also his output was more consistent .. he was a phenomenon and had more success at a younger age with two world player of the year awards by age 21.
In comparison Ronaldinho (and every player other in history other than Pele) was not top of the world at that age (including cr7 and Messi) .
R9 kind of had nothing left to prove by a age 22. Then he was injured for 3 years.. then came back just before the world cup and won the World Cup .. so he REALLY had nothing to prove after that.
A lot of these dribble moves ended in an assist or a goal from R9.. he was really effective. It’s a bit annoying when the edit cuts out the final finish. ;). But eventually you know them ;)
Romario used to call R9 an athlete and said that Ronaldinho was the best player brazil had produced in this period (but Romario was a bit jealous of R9 getting so famous hehe ).
By the way I’m half Brazilian so I really love these players.

To keep it short Ronaldo is in the GOAT conversation because had he finished his career we know he’d be 1 or 2 all time. As great as Ronaldinho was and as long as he played, he is not in GOAT talk. There was a lot of substance to his game but more flash. Which resulted in him producing less and winning less for his teams and for Brazil.
That’s a good in short summary. Yeah Ronaldinho’s numbers were not all that at PSG (only was motivated for big matches) then had 1-2 years of numbers at Barca. Amazing flashes of brilliance when he brought it :)
R9 a total goal machine for Barcelona at age 20 which the world had not seen from anyone so young since Pele.

Say what you want but for real football fans Ronaldinho can easily be considered one of the best of all time because he won everything. Yeah his numbers might not be the best but he won at every club, got a balon d’or and a World Cup, what else does he need to be considered 😂 maybe to you he isn’t but that’s crazy considering his accomplishments and impact to Barcelona despite the short time he was there

They're both very good technically. Ronaldinho is definitely more technical, he is just another level of technical though, one of the smoothest footballers I think we'll ever see, something you just can't train it's just something you have, born with essentially.
Ronaldo was stronger physically, just a bulldog upfront, aswell as his great awareness and just overall football IQ. Both of them are greats, very different styles though.
You can train your skills to some degree. C. R. did some of the same moves , but never the way Ronaldinho did them (elastico f.e.). Ronaldinho has a strong sense for rhythm. He is also a musician.
That Golden ball trophy at the beginning is a the BallonDor. It is awarded to the best player in the world once a year. Ronaldinho won one, R9 won 2.

for me were it not for injuries R9 would be the GOAT no questions asked, as for R10 his peak at Barcelona might be the greatest I have ever seen, but that peak only lasted 3 years or so.
For me over a Career My Goat is Maradona, then probably Zidane,then Messi then R9 then R10
BUT if R9 had not had injures or R10 had looked after himself like CR7 then both would be at top spot no doubt
I cant deny though R9 might be the scariest player I have seen in a one off match
*regarding Maradona, has 99% of what Messi has, but a lot more too , more all round player, could play in more positions, better captain/leader, won the biggest prizes with average teams on him being in the team alone
Zidane, no where near Messi , CR7 or R9 goals, but possibly the best attacking mid of all time, I would build a team around Maradona or Zidane over anyone else based on career, and what they won as players and in their teams World cup winners balon D'ors, etc etc
There is also a case that if Pele grew up in todays era, and trained under a similar training program to Messi or CR7 would he be 1) a great player (YES!!! he would) or 2) would he be comparable or possibly even better than Messi or CR7 and I have to say, yeh he probably would

Prime r9 & prime r10 are debatable Don't make it seem like one's far better just bc he scores more, their roles in the pitch are different + r10 faced Real Madrid Galacticos nearly alone and managed to be more clutch. I'm not saying he's better at all, but you don't give him the appreciation he deserves.

Let me put it this way, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Maradona are probably the most entertaining players of all time, I agree with that. They can't be in a contest of who the best of all time is and by a long margin. Messi, Ronaldo, Pelé and even Eusébio or Puskas have numbers that are unreal, and it doesn't matter where and how they played, they always delivered. Neymar could be there but I feel there is some kind of lack of professionalism from Brazilian players specially after the 94 World cup because they had such great players that they didn't feel they needed to put in the work. Why did Denilson get called and was in the starting lineup in 98 WC, the mans was flashy but everyone knew he didn't give a crap about the team, hence why theoretically the best team he played for was Betis.....

I agree with everything except that he won more.. somehow he didn’t win much. I think Ronaldinho has more league titles and of course 1 champions league title to 0 for R9. (R9 was really unlucky as when he was injured in his first season for Madrid they got knocked out of the semi finals.. he really made the difference to the team despite all the other galacticos being there.. so when he was out they lost) .
R9 has 0 titles in Spain and Italy I think.

I think you got the wrong idea. Ronaldo's carreer is greater than Ronaldinho's, even with all those injuries. The injuries althoug, prevented him to be the undisputed goat of the sport.
