In terms of gameplay, i think people who played Persona Q 1 & 2 won't have too much issue with this game since they're basically the same outside of the negotiation system since the Q games don't have that

there is also the battle formation system however Q's by comparison is a lot more simplified, p1 has front, middle and back row along with left, right and centre which do matter a bit in the character's attack range. some characters are blatantly obvious what their preference is like Mark mainly being at the front, maki and yukino at the far back

I love the fact you get both old school weapons and (real)guns. I like the fact you can find useful stuff in lockers and other places you don't get search in modern Persona games.

The towns in modern Persona are not being invaded by demons. During the events of classic persona games, it's a war between demons and humans. Those who can't use personas fight as well with guns and whatnot.

The Maki love is much appreciated!
Easily my favorite girl in all of persona and one of the most reletable ones to me.
As someone who was born with a weak constitution as a kid and had to be hospitalized many times back then, her feelings of loneliness and self-loathing really hit hard for me.
This was a pretty good video on P1,keep it up man!
Out of curiosity do you plan on making a video about the manga adaptation? If not, that's fine.

I finished persona 1 this month and i had so much fun. The story was amazing, the characters were great. Maki is my second female character in the persona series, behind Aigis. The music is jam packed, added so many of them to my persona Playlist. The gameplay was hard to learn, but i still had a ton of fun.

Persona 1 negoiation system also takes the moon into consideration. If it's a full moon for example negoiations might not work so that's what happened to you.

I recently bought a PSP as well as P1 because I wanted to experience it. This game kicks my butt. I'm struggling to grasp the combat and I feel like I'm missing something for equipment and such. I'm about 9 hours in I think and still only have starting equipment. The random encounters seem never ending, which isn't awful but it sure is tedious. And the negotiation is so hard that I don't even really try to talk to the demons and just aim to demolish them. I feel like weak spells aren't going to carry me through the game

    • @nightwish1453
      @nightwish1453 2 месяца назад +3

you don't get new equipment till a bit later after you end up in the other world in sebec, the initial personas can vary in quality like Maki's is really good and can last for quite a while. the negotiation i would just say bite the bullet and use the p1 contact guide which basically lists out which contact would give what emotion increase for each demon personality type, the game doesn't give much hints on how it works and in revelations it's even worse. Persona 1 in itself is one of the few game exceptions where most wouldn't judge you for using a guide heck if your attempting to recruit Reiji you absolutely need one

As Someone who has been playing SMT and Persona games for years now, I find it quite sad that Revelations Persona a game which is quite forgotten nowadays. More and more people that start their Persona road, as I would call it, start with the modern 3, 4 and 5. Which is why I would love for more players to actually experience the good old times
Also, Maki and I share a birthday which I find quite funny ^^ June 4th

Using your personas to fight demons (not shadows), students using real guns, many moral choices that affect the story, high random encounters, frustrating negotiations (demons are demons, so they're never easy to negotiate with), some random encounters that may body you, and no social links... welcome to Shin Megami Tensei buddy! Don't be surprised, P1, P2:IS, and P2:EP are basically SMT games, in fact, they come from SMT If.

I played this game before halfway and then reload came and held it off for that instead, once I beaten reload and then went back to finish sebec and I ended up loving p1 more and I think it came down to liking the theme, cast and story more. P3 cast is good but for me there wasn’t one I was overly attached to while p1 had the likes of Elly, maki, nanjo and yukino to think about.
For the gameplay I played sebec with Elly and currently playing SQQ with nanjo and Elly again compared to the modern games where even though there were some characters better then others at least all seemed complete and useable to an extent with p1 brown, ayase and Reiji while not un-usable they feel unfinished party members either because they have a crap weaponry set, bad arcana affinity list or bad affinity or just straight up both. This game isn’t the hardest in the series so if any of those 3 catch your eye it’s not impossible to use them you just have to make do with a bit more grinding and going beyond their arcana. it’s kind of slapped in the middle cause the hardest persona will tend to be ep or older versions of persona 3 not counting reload.
I played with the ps1 music and I think it is an underrated gem, psp is most likely rushed as meguro was busy with fes and p4 vanilla at the same time hence its track list and length really damn short to like 30 seconds a piece(you tend to hear the same tracks over and over a little too much to my liking) so even though there maybe some decent tracks the ps1 has so much going for it including the extra detail of having the boss theme change when you select the fight command which does hype it up and there are some psp tracks that do sound questionable on sounding like modern persona when somehow it’s original sounds more like that then what psp came up with which is especially true for Kama palace and nemesis tower. This may sound like “original is better” talking point which maybe but i don’t think this can be compared to reload’s ost to older p3 as reload despite minor changes has the same effort put in as the original and there are some done better in one or the other which is something p1 psp doesn’t really achieve a lot in practice and it’s less of the tracks themselves but the terrible implementation for it that hurts and it does show with it’s repetitiveness and rough patchwork to cover the entire game with the smaller ost which leads to some scenes sounding not appropriate like the beginning when maki is having an emotional shutdown.
The psp version did bomb pretty hard despite the original game being the best selling game prior to p5 and meguro has made comments of him regretting the psp OST, this lead to p2 psp having more faithful tracks as a response though it really did take until eternal punishment to get an improved version of the older games which we never got sadly

I'm hope to see more people appreciate this game in the future because I think it's pretty good and is probably the most unique game I've ever played in my life.
The story of SEBEC is amazing no argument there and SQQ is neat too. Characters most of the characters are fun except for Brown and Ayase. Elly and Nanjo are my personal favorites in the game. Although this cast is easily the weakest to me because we never see the characters interact as a full group that much. As much as I think people gas up the Investigation Team's dynamic they do bounce off each other as a WHOLE GROUP. In P1 the closest we get to that is the first cutscene but only 7/9 are present.
The combat isn't exactly what I'd call good but I enjoy more than P4's combat and I don't get why people act like it's the Superman 64 of RPG's. Although what is a problem is the game having 200 hundred million mechanics and not half of them meaning anything. Like the amount of elements this game has. Most of the time enemies have a weakness to 2 or more things. If it's weak to ice than it's probably weak to earth and fire. If it's weak to nuclear it's weak to lighting and gravity. Though what's the point if the enemies are going to have a bajillion weaknesses? Why not just downsize the elements? This is espeicelly true when you look are Miracle and Expel (Both of these would be better descriptors than "Light" like later games.) and Death and Curse. They might as well be the same element. There's also the placement system which is a neat idea but ultimately doesn't mean anything. All it comes down to is in the SEBEC put 3 in front 1 behind the 3 in Front and Maki all the way in the back, and it's way worse for SQQ because it's 3 in front 2 right behind them. Also yeah the negotiation system is trash, kudos to you for not using the P1wiki guide for them. Though imo I kind of don't mind because you don't have to think about a lot of what I just said to get far in the game. Overall it's a fine enough combat system which could've been expanded on in the sequels (and as another comment points out kind of did in PQ1 and PQ2.).
Dungeon's are not really remarkable but I like them and at least they don't last an hour like P4 dungeons do. They take 35 minutes at most so you'll be out of there before you know it.
In my opinion I genuinely don't like the PSP soundtrack. I think it fits fine enough but I just don't like most of the tracks as most of them sounds like rejected tracks from P4 to me. Especially where there's this stupid ass happy song with a flute that plays ALL THE TIME in the PSP ost and replaces a lot of cool character themes from the PSX version. I like the vocal themes, I even like Bloody Destiny, Voice, and School Days more than their PSX counterparts but with Bloody Destiny and Lone Prayer they only last a minute and with how long battles can last I easily get sick of them. On the other hand the PSX ost is my favorite Persona ost as it's very atmospheric and adds to the weird dream-like tone to the game. Also neat how each character has a theme. To me they fumbled so hard when it came to the PSP. Almost as big as a downgrade as going from the OG P4 and P5 intros to P4G and P5R intros.
Overall P1 is a pretty good but flawed game I'd probably give it a 7.5/10. overall it's the 2nd worst mainline Persona imo but it is above P4 and no mainline game has gone below a 7/10 (yet) (and also a 7/10 to me is good.). I hope if this game is remade they do something new with the combat system instead of it being 1 more. Hell maybe not even base it off of press turn (it's goated but the battle system is older than I am, I think it might be time to try something new.) Overall great video. Meant to comment on release but I forgot until the Koro vid dropped today.

Those three games are SMT games. That's their nature. If there's a remake, they should remain as SMT in core nature: demons, moral choices, demon negotiation, real guns, Philemon and Nyarlathotep, demon invation, hard battles, and of course no social links (there's no time to go to the beach, demons are invading and the world might end).

@@matiasfrancogracia9336 I dunno, I would like to see a new take of the story, I mean if I want to play persona 1 and 2 in the way u said, I can just go back to the old versions, which are incredible the way they are, if I want the experience of smt, I would just play smt. So why not giving p1 and p2 a more modern persona feel?

Today I finished the Playstation 1 version of Revelations Persona, which was also my first persona and it sure was weird honestly. It was kind of hard to get into it but the gameplay went forward pretty smoothly and the story reminded me a lot of Eternal Sonata, too bad the original localization was utter bullshit, the grid system wasn't clear at all to me not were all the different effects and abilities (not much of an explanation of what was going on number-wise) and last but not the least, the Snow Queen Quest apparently wasn't available for that console. I somewhat wished I played the PSP version since it looked more polished, but I guess going for the botched OG hasn't been too bad either, just a different, more "dated" vibe.
Also I wish I knew that I could have a different fifth party member, but I got stuck with "Brad"...

Have you played P1/P2 or classic SMT?
Like having played both they're pretty different, SMT is a lot more focused on philosophy and exploration while Persona is very much focused on the characters especially in persona 2, they also play pretty differently
