1:52 Just a small correction: the name Persona Q is actually derived from the fact that it's a Persona x Etrian Odyssey crossover. In Japan, the Etrian Odyssey series is known as Sekaiju no Meikyū, which is often abbreviated as SQ (S from "Sekaiju," and Q from the syllable "kyū" in "Meikyū" matching the phonetic pronunciation of the letter Q). Definitely a neat little detail that gets lost in translation
Yeah, the memory wipe thing maybe tiresome, but there is one character here who actually still remembers the events of this game. What if I told you that Minato actually remembers the events of Persona Q? You see, the game's events is actually told through the protagonist and their Velvet Room helper recalling the game's events, if you've played through the P4 side of the game, Yu does receive a vision of Minato while recalling the entire game's events, sure, but he just immediately forgets about it. But if you've played through the P3 side of the game, it's actually quite clear that Minato does remember Yu while Elizabeth recalls everything that's happened, but the memory's a bit hazy. Even if he doesn't remember the game's events exactly, he would at least remember what Elizabeth told him and assume it's true. He would even leave the Velvet Room and assumedly kept the whole thing a secret from the rest of S.E.E.S, never saying a word about it to them. This would give the final battle in Persona 3 more meaning since he's remembers The Investigation Team, another group of Persona users from the future, from 2011 to be exact, and that when the final battle came in 2010, he knew he had to make the big sacrifice in the end to allow them to live and seeing the sacrifices of Rei and Zen have probably been the thing that encouraged him to do so. So, the events of Persona 4 Arena and Ultimax, I consider that as destiny that both casts would meet up once again, but they don't know it was a reunion and the P3 cast has pretty much grown up and have already been through the entirety of P3 and The Answer. But, what about Persona Q2 since he doesn't even recognize them in that game and it definitely seems like it takes place after Q? Well, it could be possible that he was either acting like he doesn't know them or that Persona Q, the original game, actually takes place after Persona Q2, meaning he wouldn't've known them yet. Though, if it was the former, it would make the part in Q2 where S.E.E.S. would come in and FeMC sees them, thinking she's been reunited with her team make sense since from after that part and what they stated, they said that their leader, who is Minato, has informed them about the Velvet Room and Elizabeth beforehand, which my guess is he recognizes the situation as Persona Q all over again and he figured that The Investigation Team had been dragged in once again, so when he's having trouble fighting the shadow without his Evoker and trying to cover for Aigis, he tells the rest of his team about the Velvet Room and Elizabeth as a way to find them and get help while putting on the act of not even knowing about them because of everyone else not remembering the first game.
i absolutely loved this game. that algebra puzzle tho was awful, i totally agree. literally i spent like 30 minutes confused af. tho there were many annoyances i had such a blast playing through it multiple times
So Etrian Oddysee is a modern way to revive the old SMT battles and dungeon crawling, and Persona Q is crossing over with Etrian Oddysey, and Persona is a spinoff of SMT. We've..gone full circle??
This is actually my first Persona game. The actual first time me knowing about Persona was coming across P4U tournaments on RUclips and I wanted to know more about their characters, but I then saw PQ on the eshop and realized they’re the same characters from the P4U fighting game lol. I’m grateful for this game and got to know P3P & P4G!
I completely agree with this one....I stopped playing at the ghost dungeon because of how bad the puzzle was to the point where I couldn't get past it while my brother's 3Ds was working. I will admit that this game has alot of ideas that work like FINALLY getting rid of the stupid "If the MC dies it's an instant game over" rule, seriously now if only we can apply this to the main line Personas......and this game also has alot of ideas that frustrated me like the bad puzzles and FOEs.....this game's not great but it's not the worst either. And funny about the next game I only owned and platinumed P4D until a few weeks ago, but now I own all of the dancing games. I can't wait to see ur take on them.
I loved pq but I couldn’t finish it because of the tedious dungeon crawling (i stopped at the 4th one and i played on hard) because there weren’t really fun content/plot progress and you need to pay to heal (lol). I just started pq2 last week and i could safely say that it’s more well packed, the dungeon and plot are integrated together. It does have a weakness a.k.a overwhelming number of cast when you can only play with a 5 member party.
JetBlack Jay even in the answer yukari gets to much hate imo she’s my favorite p3 character because she’s such a really flawed human being and she’s feels like a real person to me
Finally bought this game on the Eshop and while the dungeon crawling is a pain (mostly having to backtrack to 100% each floor), the story and music is gorgeous. It's the first persona game I've played and absolutely love it, despite missing some context with the characters being from previous games
I was just doing the spider puzzle today and I don't believe it was too bad. I mapped out each web and then counted the webs it would take to get to each one. There was usually only one or two solutions to each step (with there only being 2 or 3) so if you got it away from square one then you should be able to get it in a position where it will be to far away to get to the exit
I just got this and the sequel with no prior knowledge other than the concept. I'm excited that I finally have some persona stuff to play since I don't have my ps4 on me for royal. Any advice for a new player?
Not much, aside from save your SP as often as you can. 🙂 Use physical elemental weaknesses on enemies to get Boosts for the characters, then if you want to, keep using magic attacks until your Boost is gone.
Wooooo that was...an experience. I enjoyed my time overall but holy god SCREW THE PRIDE EXHIBIT. The final boss as well had my heart racing but not cause I was excited but rather how stressed I was. Overall it's like a 6 (also kanji is the best in this game fight me). The sequel though hehe that's some good shit.
To correct you on the sub persona part it is not a new feature its a feature that was in the original persona game which allowed all the party to use up to 3 personas.
People who haven't played Etrian Odyssey will hate this game. I hated my first EO game because it was too brutal, long, dull, and text-driven. But now EO is one of the best series for me. EO is not for someone who's not patient. Battles are longer, dungeons are wider, foes are a level or two ahead of you always. So I completely understand your points and qualms about PQ
Teddie and Morgana both are the kinds of mascott characters that are fine on their own but get Hella annoying when the developers try to break the fourth wall and force you to do something against your will or listen to one of their jokes. It's one of those things that hinder the experience and turns it from being so close to being a favorite of all time kind of experience to pulling your hair out because they make ng+ torture.
Yea I really do see what you mean with the bland jokes. Personally, PQ did Akihiko (and even to an extent shinjiro) the absolute WORSE to the point he really annoyed me even when he comes on screen. Here’s the pattern: Someone from the IT makes a comment about something that could be turned into a challenge. Akihiko thinks it IS a challenge. Shinjiro calls him a moron. Cue light argument.
