MatPat is very devoted to the FNAF lore. But it's honestly kinda funny how these things work. He'll release a theory and say that he thinks he's finally connected all the dots. But then some book, some game, or some teaser will drop and either confirm what he's saying is true or smash his entire theory to pieces in seconds. There is no middle ground. Fnaf lore is wild.
Since second FNAF game I lived by the words: 'Lore is there, somwhere, but if someone says he knows it, he lies because Scott doesn't even know it himself at this point'
I think that's the best way to look at the franchise at this point, to look at the pieces and see which ones match up the best to make a cohesive story. I highly doubt we'll end up answering every single question without Scott outright saying it.
So happy you guys are still interested in the world! Fnaf is full of crazy stuff still and its honestly not even a stretch to say you havent even gotten 10% of fnafs...anything! This will be a really fun series of videos to watch!
I'm personally more inclined to believe the version of Afton's childhood where his family owned the Fred Bear attraction. Because I don't think that version of events necessarily negates the childhood wonder the other version has. So while it doesn't have to take anything away from that series of events, it also adds the possibility that he is struggling to support a business he inherited, or maybe you could even tie his later desire to breathe life into things that aren't could be to his family business dying because the original Fred Bear passed away, leaving Afton to scramble to find a way to fill that void in the business. Because losing Fred Bear in that situation would be like losing a member of the family while that same tragedy would also create a financial crisis for your family and business. I just think there's more interesting and complex motivations if his family owned that business originally than if the idea just came from an attraction he saw as a child.
Besides, if it was a family business, it would explain why he could use the name 'Fredbear'. I seriously doubt some other company would let some random person who they've never been associated with use the name.
I'm honestly excited to see y'all's reactions to the rest of his Ultimate Timeline videos. These were honestly his most interesting videos he's made in a very long time which is why I like seeing people's reactions to them.
I agree with the darker concept of William’s childhood. I’m a psych major and it’s always bothered me how a number of FNAF fans like to think of William as having been a loving father and husband at one point. Becoming a child murderer isn’t something that happens over night ☠️. In the novels, he’s a classic narcissist who’s a little…loopy I’ll say. He’s shown to not be good at thinking on his feet, which also makes sense with a more factor two type of psychopathy. I won’t go in depth, but true narcissism has deep roots in a person’s youth. And the way William is portrayed in the novels is the type of antisocial person who keeps others around him for his own benefit, not because he cares. Who knows what Scott intended tbh, I’m just applying my knowledge.
I wish the lore of the original game ended in 3. 6 was a good ending too ngl, but everything after that just feels complicated for the sake of being complicated
Honestly, I don't the abuse is needed for afton's backstory. He has a character trait that pushes him forward without that needed motivation, and it's obsession. He is obssessed with the animatronics and the restaraunt. There are plenty of serial killers who come from normal homes. Even fictional killers, like Michael Myers came from an everyday middle class family. While it is true that there is a gene to make you more likely to become a serial killer and can be activated by trauma, there are some people who are just off. I think Afton was possibly a sociopath. He can appear charming and friendly, but he has no problems breaking rules, harming others with little guilt, and his first kill was an impulse of violence and anger. He loves his children and grieves their loss, but manipulates michael with nightmares, and rather than stopping michael from scaring and abandoning his little brother, he kind of left it be, indicating he has trouble understanding other people's emotions. He later keeps blaming others for bad things happening. Henry caused his business to go bankrupt. Henry killed his son. Elizabeth didn't listen. Bad events happen and rather than thinking its his fault due to his actions, he blamed others. This is the list of traits of a sociopath: -ignoring social norms and laws, or breaking rules at school or work, overstepping social boundaries, stealing, stalking and harassing others, and destroying property -dishonesty and deceit, including using false identities and manipulating others for personal gain -difficulty controlling impulses and planning for the future, or acting without considering the consequences -aggressive or aggravated behavior, including frequent fights or physical conflict with others -disregard for personal safety, or the safety of others -little to no guilt or remorse, or a tendency to justify actions that negatively affect others Afton shows most of these behavior in some way. Driving his wife and Michael away as he falls further and further into his obsession. I think Afton may have been a high functioning sociopath but was triggered into descent when his son died and after killing Charlette just embrassed it. Granted, this is speculation as this is based of small snippets from the games and theories flying around, but I think it fits with the broader scope of what afton was like.
I’m so glad you are reaction MatPats Ultimate Timeline he is one of the best Fnaf RUclipsrs out there and made me get into Fnaf when it game out almost 10 years ago. This timeline is the best one the community has from a narrative sense and like MatPat says some stuff might not fit but hey FNAF is not solved so not every theory someone has is going to be perfect
Hmph. Actual commentary. Actually transformative. I mean, it's at the very end, but beyond seeing someone else's perspective, there was reason for me to watch this.
Compare this video to the video this channel reacted to about attempting to explain all the Kirby lore. From the perspective of "how to convey information to the viewer in an interesting manner," I think that matpat has mastered the art of writing scripts for these videos.
You guys are so great and funny and go so well together. I’m your number 1 fan! I always get so excited when you guys upload your reactions. You two deserve more subs and I hope your doing well together!
Nice reaction! I cant wait fpr yoy to react to the next parts! At the end you talked about how trauma is a big factor in how some poeple "lose it" and do evil things... just wait for the next video of the timeline. You may get your answers, lol. Glad I discovered your channel!
I love FNAF, played every game, read a good portion of the books, fawn over the upcoming movie. I watch lore videos and theories... And I'm still confused. It's a fustercluck of complicated murder ghost stories. Still love it though.
Just a heads up, part 4 of this extensive timeline can be mostly thrown out as of like a month ago as new info released about this fun character called "the mimic". The rest? Probably accurate, idk
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Its not that the lore changes its more so we thought it was one thing when it was actually another, which is the franchises biggest problem.
MatPat has solid basis for his theories but there it always feels like he has to make some odd reaches for some of his connections. I feel like it is often his assertions are what end up being the most wrong everytime.
I realllllly want them to react to a fnaf VHS horror tape called paranormal investigation. A man goes into the fnaf building searching for things that people have seen go on in the store.
Speaking of Timelines, I would like you to do Everglow’s Kingdom Hearts: Timeline Series at some point, you like Kingdom Hearts right? And you didn’t do all of the Games right? Maybe you could get a better understanding of things or not, regardless I think it’s worth a Watch.
Definitely if you are interested MatPat does theory and lore solve videos on other games and has other Theory Channels that are pretty interesting and they are Film Theory, Food Theory, and the brand new Style Theory that only came out not too long ago. Check it out if you are interested 😁
The thing about the suit being very important to Afton because he put his digital conciousness doesn't apply anymore since a new character has changed most of the story of the last games, also part 4 is almost all theory that doesn't have enough evidence and many things have been changed by the new character.
I don't think the mimic AI is just a recreation of Afton. If it were, it would be a big amalgamation of things from all over the timeline, including Henry and Charlie. But Glitchtrap is Afton through and through. My idea is that it came into contact with Afton's soul which is still kicking around somewhere being tormented by Cassidy and it left an imprint on the AI. Making it a complete replication of William. It's not William fully, but it's also not a simple AI pretending to be him. It may as well be a clone.
Since _Honkai Star Rail_ is out, and it has a bunch of trailers and even a concert, why not react to the _Honkai Impact 3rd_ PVs and concerts? Oh, since you guys won't play _HI3_ , you can do the animated shorts too. They got spoilers.

I've been convinced forever that Scott Cawthon watches Mattpat's theories and purposely makes the lore the opposite of what he says
@@thwomp1542 >the mimic
That's why is called a Theory is not the truth. Anything can change the story has complicated has this.
The mimic
I do love how Matt explains it like an Story rather than an theory.
Does make it more entertaining 🙂

can we just appreciate the editing on the video as well, the intro with the hand was so well done. just the whole thing tbh
I'm so excited to see you guys react to the copious amount of child murder covered in the second book. Like you'd think there'd be WAY less dead kids.

Will you 2 react the rest of the 3 episodes part of FNAF: The Ultimate Timeline
will u guys ever play the actual games? I would love to see that :)
Yeah we plan on eventually checking out the games ourselves 🙂
