The naming convention used by Jackson (as well as by Ibanez and others) actually gives some info about the guitar - although it results in funny names indeed. For example, in this case, JS32 is the model, JS32Q is a JS32 with a Quilted maple veneer, DK is the body shape (Dinky), DKA is a Dinky with an Arched top, DKAM is a Dinky with Arched top and maple fretboard while DKA AH has an Amaranth fretboard. HT stands for a fixed (i.e. Hipshot-style) bridge (e.g. the fixed bridge made by Jackson for its 6-string guitars is called HT6). Ibanez uses similar naming, e.g. AH stands for Ash body, AHM adds to this a maple fretboard, etc. Likewise, ESP uses the term NT (non-tremolo) for fixed bridges, etc. At the end, it is always given the finish (color) name - often transparent something or/and something burst and usually abbreviated using 3 or 2 letters. In this case, Transparent Purple Burst or TPB.

I bought the dark green one and after a good set up I haven't had any problems. It's a budget guitar so don't expect it to be high end. But for a second or third guitar to mess around on its great. I agree the the jem jr is a better guitar in my opinion but I play this jackson fairly often and use the whammy bar extensively and haven't had any tuning problems...yet. worth the money!!!!

I have the JS32Q HT, changed the tuners to Gear4music´s "Guitar Works Locking tuners" for 26€ and it turned the guitar from a 260€ cheap JS that would not stay in tune to a pro-series equivalent for less than 300€. It plays amazingly good, stays really well in tune with the new locking tuners and the stock pickups (Jackson branded Belcat PU´s) sound actually really good, they have a nicely tight and compressed sound to them. 0 issues with the electronics everything is still nice and tight, no rattles or unwanted noises... I have an ESP LTD EC-1000 with Seymour Duncans and i value both guitars equally high. Get the Hard Tail version to avoid the headache associated with cheap Floyd Rose trems...

I have a 1995 Jackson USA Kelly Pro getting a custom respray atm, and work done. So i was gong to get another USA King V Pro. Went and played a few at guitar store, my local for 30 years. And honestly for $6500 and a 3 year wait I played tis guitar (mind you neither the expensive or this $500) Jackson were setup by a technician. I just couldn't see the value in paying $6500 for Guitar, when played this I bought one to leave at my girlfriends place, sick of carrying guitars at my age. Took it to my guitar tech, and WOW, it shreds does not go out of tune and is killer, so i bought a SECOND one for me at home hahahahaa.....this thing is a freak guitar for the money, Looking for a reason to buy a third one as the pickups, fret board size, sound, playability even with bolt on neck ( noting like the bolt ones from 1995) is epic. Thats my experience!! i could buy 10x of these or 1x USA Pro King V........And the new King V cases are V Shaped and have Jackson All over them. See i don't want to advertise what's inside, and 3 year wait!! The guitar sales mate kept syaing, but the USA made has all these extra bits that make it worth the money. I said okay like what? couldn't get an answer lol.....

I own one of the JS series as well and can highly recommend it! Of course, you d´better swap the PUs and the bridge, but the quality for the price is awesome! Ok, you can feel that the clear coat is thinner and what´s bad imho is the binding! That´s pretty cheap! But over all a killer series!

  • @FretLevelMidnight
    @FretLevelMidnight 2 года назад +4

I bought one of these years back and I still own it, albeit heavily modded, lol. Mine is a black/dark greenish JS32Q, my mods are as follows: Routed for an FU-2 FU-Tone Bridge, FU-2 bridge, brass claw and screws, 37mm L brass block, noiseless springs, titanium string inserts, titanium neck plate, Floyd Rose pop-in bar with assembly, CRL switch, Switchcraft jack, CTS pots, off-white/slime green bobbin'd Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck, double creme DiMarzio Evolution in the bridge, and Graph Tech Ratio locking tuners, and had the guitar refretted with jumbo Jescar stainless steel frets... This guitar cost me 200 bucks shipped to my door and has been a blast to experiment on, I love how it plays, the value is/was insane, it was a great guitar before I decided to replace everything on it but the neck, body, and frets, haha. Cheers!
P.S. Love the neck on this guitar.

    • @FretLevelMidnight
      @FretLevelMidnight Месяц назад

@@adamdion2166 The mods cost a lot of money overall, but this is more about the journey... My luthier and I are friends so he charged me $321.61 for the stainless steel refret (cost of Jescar frets included), $100 to have the guitar routed to fit the FU-Tone bridge, $129.28 for the custom bobbin' '59, $77.93 for the DiMarzio Evolution, Titanium neckplate $27.05, $7.28 for the Switchcraft jack, $29.00 for the CRL switch, $15.70 for the 2 CTS potentiometers, $347.95 for the full FU-Tone double locking tremolo unit, springs, claw and nut, $17.32 for Floyd Rose pop-in bar and assembly, $45 for the set-screwed stainless steel volume and tone knobs with luminlay inlays, and the Graph Tech Ratio locking tuners were $118.96... Lol, altogether that's $1237.08 just in mods and labor for my fully custom Dinky, but it's more than worth it to me, there's no other Dinky like it.

Well... it sounds like an... electric guitar! Tadaah! And a Marshall and effects. Your playing is respectable. Would a Jem Jr., for example, sound different? If there is a subtle difference, who is going to hear it? Like... listening to demo recording and having a great moment of epiphany: wooooow, this guy is not playing LTD, but Jackson! However, great to hear that this thing is a potential instrument after some tweeking, intonating, filing, planing, screwing etc!

Got the violet one, wow after some normal adjustements to get the low action I love, like take of the metal chim they put under the nut that makes the strings to high. then I had to fill just a bit on the 1 fret high E string. then adjust the springs in the back and lower the floyd, adjust the trust rod. change the strings. plug into a good distortion like the revv g3 etc.. and bamm this thing is well made because theres zero buzzes anywere and I got super low action. and still a few turns left to lower the bridge not many guitars are like this. most that I got are at the lowest point. wow sounds amazing with these pick ups and plays super fluidly and fast. I will surely get another with the reverse neck this time. :) sory for bad spelling, I'm french so....

I just took my Tokai Les Paul Delux for a professional set up, By Andy Farrell Ex led Zeppelin and a host of other top bands tech, The difference is just wow, I was embarrassed as He asked me to try it and I could not play it is , as the difference was so, so now at home it is butter melts as I play it, Fret polish helps sustain ect, All of you want to race your car get it race tuned, do the same with your guitar.. My favourite guitarist ( sorry Elmo) is Jeff Healey he played a Squire, yes set up a bit different for his style of play, Get you Axe, guitar done, but by a Luthier not at a shop, look around you will find them.

This is a damn good guitar if you know how to or know someone to set it up properly and take care of those cost cutting QA issues.
And the problem we have here is that novice players usualy dont know how to fix this type of issues so the guitar gets branded as garbage right away.
Back in medieval times when we had no ecomerce and instruments were only sold at music stores most stores would have these guitars sent to a tech for an overhaul before they were put on for sale in the store so even a cheap guitar like this would make for a decent instrument.
This would obviously increase the price of the instrument but it would also save a lot of customer grief and lower the amount of returned instruments.

    Neck- Excellent playability, compound radius
Tuners - Barely good enough to use
Pickups- Not good or bad. Just there
    Floyd Rose- ABSOLUTE TRASH!
Nut- On the JS32 model it's TRASH
Avoid the Floyd rose made out of pot metal. The neck is amazing and will inspire you to play. Buy the hardtail version if you want but don't spend a bunch of money modding it.
WARNING: These guitars will suck you in and many people mod them. You just have to remember it's still a cheap chinese bolt on guitar with a poplar body. That neck is awesome but I would rather buy it attached to something else.

    That's a good review.
I thought it sounded pretty good. I hate bad fretwork though. It just pisses me off. That said, one could put a 100 dollar gotoh Floyd in it and maybe change the pickups and tuners and you would have a decent guitar, but if you did that you could avoid all that and just buy a better version Jackson or whatever and be done with it. 😭😂
    Hope all is well sir.

i have the same guitar in black, which i bought a few years ago.
The issue with the neck and sharp frets is becoming all too common.
Today to meet demand, i think that the guitars are made with wood
that has not been allowed to fully dry out, and it shrinks and bends
before the guitar reaches the customer, hence requiring a full setup.
This is just annoying for us, but for a beginner it makes the guitar
    unplayable.
One request, please use the Vox amp for clean tones, that Marshall
    sounds way too gritty.

Yep, it is typically for young boys for full distortion... Clean does not sound too nice. I do not know why but Jackson guitars have always been out of my radar. What I like they focus on 3/4 guitars (both guitars and basses) which can plant the seeds for really young players to continue with the same brand as they grow bigger. This guitar reminds me the early 90s Washburn finishes :)

I have green one, without tremolo. To be honest I don't like pickups on this guitar.

Its funny I have a jackson and no one can tell me what its called. I called Jackson and gave them the serial number and all they could tell me is what year it was built.

I bought this guitar and quickly became annoyed. Not sure if its because it was my first floyd but the string always pop out of the floyd rose. Its almost not funny anymore how many times it has happened and i dont know how to mitigate this

All Jackson's I've had under £400 never seem to stay in tune 🙄 The X series up are much better🤘🎸

Compared with some other guitars you've demoed this one doesn't sound very good. Seems flabby sounding on the low end and lifeless on the high end. The best tone seemed to be the warm jazz tone near the beginning

Jackson is my favourite brand. The JS32 series is just too cheap and a bit on the beginner side of guitars for me. The X-series is affortable too and they are rock solid with neck-through shit and a good Floyd Rose trem.
