Hippo Hop (Level 19) in

Achieved on September 17, 2020. The first 10 levels aren't quite as clean as my best 1st Loop run which can be viewed here ( • Hippo Hop (Level 10) i... ). There were a couple issues with the stages in the second loop, namely two costly deaths in level 16 and one in 18. I've lost my patience with this category though so this will have to stand.
So why does the 2 Loops speedrun only go up to Level 19? As far as we know, Level 20 is impossible to beat. Collecting the maroon egg does not reveal a path to the shore like it does on Level 10. I think somebody'll find a way someday though, which would then make this not highly optimized run invalid anyway haha
For those that don't know what the eggs do:
Pink egg: Collect this and next time you reach the shore, a vulture will carry you back.
Yellow egg: Gives you an extra life.
Maroon egg: Changes the pattern of the flotsam. You must collect this on Level 10 in order to unlock the path to the shore.

I played this game more than 20 years ago, and I never got good at it. Quite frankly, the speed of the animals on the later levels horrify me. Good on you, champ.

I think the game devs made the game for 2 crowds, the younger kids and the older versions of us. This game is so nostalgic and thanks for playing till the end! Never knew how far it could go!!

Yes! Thank you for validating that level 20 is impossible. Whenever I searched years ago, I couldn't find any mention of this. It's hilarious that the game was actually released like that. I'd love to know if there is somehow some secret or glitch to get through.

Exactly. When I say "Level 20 is impossible", I really mean "I haven't found a way to beat Level 19" and am probably the only person who's really investigated this. There probably is some off-the-wall cryptic secret to beating it... It always bewildered me why they made this game so hard lol, I couldn't get past Level 6 as a kid.

@@Winslinator Yes, way too hard as a kid 😂. I think it's probably just a bug and they never tested it. We might need to wait for somebody to fix the code to ever see what comes after.

Incidentally do you remember what are the foods Timon eats at the end of each level?

1. "Hot worm on a leaf with mango relish"
2. "Pumbaa's Famous Beetle Kebab"
3. A two-headed grub. Timon has trouble deciding how to eat it.
4. Something I can best describe as a golden oreo but with a bug face on it.
5. "Cocoon on the Cob"
6. "Double Cricket Squirrel"
After that I'm pretty sure it's the same as level 1 and they start to loop.
