I agree with you! As i get older and lived that era as a young person, i know look at him as one of the most talented people in music ever. Hes a complete artist all the way around. You just feel his musical abilities. So deeply talented!
Joshua Brooks I understand. And Tommy’s solo is incredible. The harmony singing is lovely. Original rhythm section. The words and delivery. So powerful.
But it doesn't fit the concept of banned rock that was I nKilroy Was Here, which is where Don't Let It End is from. What's unrequited love got to do with the banning of rock? Irrevelant. If any GF of mine left me, I'd call the police to get her back to meBetter still, I'd track her down and drag her back then spank her till she gave in.
I remember one south florida April night in 83 staring into the clouds and the full moon being covered by the misty clouds, and how lost and sad I felt after having broken up with h____ the love of my life. Man how i loved that girl..
ANOTHER GREAT ONE WOW WOW WOW WOW CAN NOT BELIVE I AM SEEING NEXT MONTH IN CONCERT. I SAW STYX LAST YEAR BUT IT WAS LIKE WOW HIS VOICE WAS MISSING IT WAS A GREAT CONCERT REGARDLESS. THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF MY MARRIAGE OF 25 YEARS. BEEN TRYING TO FIGHT TO KEEP TOGETHER . IT IS SAD WHEN YOU DO NOT FEEL LIKE YOUR HUSBAND IS IN LOVE WITH YOU ANYMORE :( I HAVE A SADNESS IN MY SOUL.
For those of youj whom are either too young or uninformed, this band had 30 hits in the 1970's...... PHENOMINAMINAL ACHIEVEMENT. Unparalleled before or since. I think the closest match was 11 in a 10 year span. Incredible band to say the least. A sheer tragedy that Dennis DeYoung left. They still are an incerdible band but his vioce and talents are missed and they've suffered as a result.
Dennis did not leave. They kicked him out because he could not tour due to medical issues. Dennis would rejoin Styx in a minute but James JY Young does not want him back even though Tommy and Chuck do. Hopefully they will get back together. I hope and pray that this does not end like the Beatles.
larry falter Well sir, I constantly read errant, sometimes downright outrageous, & incorrect statements folks claim are facts. I never once felt compelled to correct nary a word. I should have known about the Beatles I've been a avid music lover since the mid 1960's. But again, the fact that you HAD TO correct me is an anal retentive move indeed! :-P
+79cobras No that's not what happened. Dennis did not want them to tour with out him even on a temporary basis. The rest of the band was fed up with Dennis holding them back because of his issues. They decided to go on with out him. Don't blame them. D.D. was being given the chance to get well, be he wanted it his way or no way.
Good Lord!!! I remember buying a second copy of this album, beacuse of the scratches on the first one I bought, due to the several times a day I played it on the old faithful turntable... I really miss that days....
I am one of the lucky ones. Grew up in a small town in Montana and my senior year in high school, traveled to see my very first concert. Styx "Paradise Theater". I am 49 now and it is still the one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Thank god for youtube so we can all go back to this magnificent time.
I remember this song when I was a teenager and used to sing along and play this song all over again in my room ... The music, the style, the TV shows, the fashion, the way we lived ... Goddamn, 80s and 90s were the best years ever for me ...
I knew this was powerful stuff when it was first released. I didnt imagine that it would hold up so well... glad to see this footage from this tour on here. Thanks man.
+Ted Cantu Whats truly sad is how little of today's music and more importantly "Artists"... don't seem to have longevity right up front... to Out There...
I agree man.... this is still powerful stuff I can remember everything about the time this was recorded. It stayed with you for decades... .. for life really.
I remember when my older brother bought this on vinyl....I love this song! I was born in 69,grew up in the 70'sand went to high school from 83 to 87...Great music years in their own right but these guys paved the way for many.....
I can't put into words how much I miss this type of music, at times, on the radio, these days. Why can't great, old school, music like this, make a comeback again???? Why?! My Best. Out.
My marriage was ENDing the year this song came out. A better band and vocalist could not have made it any more sadder, or bitter. Saw them that same year in concert....with her. Yeah, that is now long ago though and I could not be more happier. Thx anyways Dennis, Styx.
Totally agree with you about todays music!!! I was born in April of 1969, and was lucky enough to spend my youth listening to this kind of music :-D Even though the 80s were filled with unlistenable crap, there were exceptions! This is one of them Funny though, that all the great music during that period was created by stars from the 60s and 70s!!?!! Anyway, I have very found memories from the 70s and 80s, even if the 80s was mostly a musically down period!
Those were the days,my friend....We thought they would never end,but Sadly they did end. But I have my Precious memories of that cold and snowy evening in 1979,where I saw them in concert in Wheeling,WV
So many of Styx's songs hold special meaning in my life!! Have always LOVED Styxm, and always will...Those were the true good old days of music!! Love ya, Fellas!!!!
Ok Mr. DeYoung, Here's the deal. Rejoin for the Charlotte NC gig and I'll come and see you guys. Styx Without Dennis is Stick. Be great wouldn't it?! Don't let it end.
great to see this. it was my favorite piece of music from the 80's. aaahhhhmmmm what i can remember of the 80's anyway. (alot of dead braincells back then lol.)
MR. DE YOUNG IF YOURE READING THIS, PLS REUNITE WITH STYX!! WE THE FANS MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THE BAD BLOOD THAT YOU HAD WITH REST OF THE BAND, BUT FOR LOYAL FANS , IT WILL BE A HISTORICAL COME BACK AND PEOPLE WILL LOVE YOU FOR THAT...A CALL FROM THE FANS
Preach on man!! These guys did this on their own, largely sans formal teaching. The "Arena Rock" bands of the 70's and 80's had IMMENSE TALENT. I will listen to almost any type of music, (cept rap) as long as the performers exibit some sort of talent. I made it just right as far as being born into the "right era". High School in the late 70's, cruising on Sunday afternoon at White Rock Lake in my 79' Z-28 w/T-tops off, jamming with the tunes on the 8 track. STYX ROCKS BTW, what is autotune??
I saw Styx in Charleston, WV in 1977 for the Grand Illusion Tour. I absolutely love them! The group is not the same without Dennis but they still sound good to me.
Well, I really like this band. Dennis De Young has a very powerful voice and their songs are very romantic with a twist of rock. But there's this one thing I can't help but notice - Tommy Shaw looks like Luke Skywalker! Lol! May the force be with you! :)
Dennis DeYoung is without a doubt. one of the most overlooked song writers and singers around!!
I agree with you!
As i get older and lived that era as a young person, i know look at him as one of the most talented people in music ever. Hes a complete artist all the way around. You just feel his musical abilities. So deeply talented!
The era of good music finished with 80's
One of the greatest voices in Rock.
I love you Dennis de young...
.@@rowenarecaro5959
I love this song. 1983 was a great year. Great songs in 1983.
So Many.
Yes, Genesis, Police and more
Classic song. Dennis' voice is golden!
Ufff grandes los STYX.gracias x sus canciones
But still totally irrelevant to the kilometers was here concept
I'd have to say this is one of my favorite Styx songs. It's an awesome song from an unforgettable era.
Irrevelant. The true highlight of the Kilroy debacle. Tommy's solo is awesome.
Excellent musicianship! They sound even better here than the studio!
Yeah - can't believe this is live because it is so precise and well-balanced!! Great lead vocals and background vocals!!
I was a teenager when this song came out. I ran out & bought the 45. I miss record stores.
Thumbs up if you only watched this just to see the Tommy Shaw guitar solo.
Nah, we're here for the full music.
No we are here for the voice of DDY and the entire music.!
I remember one south florida April night in 83 staring into the clouds and the full moon being covered by the misty clouds, and how lost and sad I felt after having broken up with h____ the love of my life. Man how i loved that girl..

it has ended lol
this song is currently dedicated to my beloved KULET miss JEASALONA because i love her very much... i love you KULET!!!

30 hits in a 10 year span is unparalleled? the beatles had 20 number 1 hits alone in a 6 year span
Dennis did not leave. They kicked him out because he could not tour due to medical issues. Dennis would rejoin Styx in a minute but James JY Young does not want him back even though Tommy and Chuck do. Hopefully they will get back together. I hope and pray that this does not end like the Beatles.
larry falter Did they now.... Gee thanks for the info, I stand corrected. Silly me and how anal of you to point that out!!
larry falter Well sir, I constantly read errant, sometimes downright outrageous, & incorrect statements folks claim are facts. I never once felt compelled to correct nary a word. The 70's and 80's the golden era for rock music. Where singers really sing. Today's music is crap.
Dennis thank u for this song...........
Superb. Just superb. DDY and TS had the best male harmonies and they sure can hold a note. Thanks for the video !
styx is dennis .. the brain and voice of this wonderful rockband..
quick, build a time machine and lets all go back to the better days
I remember this song when I was a teenager and used to sing along and play this song all over again in my room ... The music, the style, the TV shows, the fashion, the way we lived ... Goddamn, 80s and 90s were the best years ever for me ...
Great song by a legendary band! I don't care what anybody says but Tommy Shaw can flat out wail on the guitar!
I like the immense passion in every note of this fab song by Dennis De Young!
I agree man.... this is still powerful stuff
I can remember everything about the time this was recorded. It stayed with you for decades... .. for life really.

Why can't great, old school, music like this, make a comeback again???? Why?!
My Best. Out.
geez ... more than 30 years old song ... and still sounds great!!! That's what means masterpiece!!! +1000000
This song, in the studio form, reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart 7/2/83.
My marriage was ENDing the year this song came out. A better band and vocalist could not have made it any more sadder, or bitter. Saw them that same year in concert....with her. Yeah, that is now long ago though and I could not be more happier. Thx anyways Dennis, Styx.

don't let this song ever end! awesomeeeeeee
This was one of the first songs I used to sing to as a kid. I had the 45 to this song. and played it all the time.
Wow just awesome
"Kilroy Was Here" should've been a full-length theatrical feature film. It's one of my favorite rock operas.
Totally agree with you about todays music!!! Well, I really like this band. Dennis De Young has a very powerful voice and their songs are very romantic with a twist of rock. But there's this one thing I can't help but notice - Tommy Shaw looks like Luke Skywalker! Lol! May the force be with you! :)
