This is a quest is hate. The quest cannot be completed by a range heavy army as if you wipe out the army before they reach you, you don’t get the guardian and you have to either concede or wait a full hour for the battle to end. Pretty much goes along the lines of: this isn’t 40k. Get gud in melee, tau lover.
