thank you to bring us great docker stuff. 😊
More to come!
Thank you good stuff might check it out.
Thanks for watching!!
cracking video again, taking a look at the repo code I'm fascinated as to how they've put this app together and to be so fast and compact. Again your covering stuff that is very useful and thanks again. I'm liking all things document related and this is a very interesting project indeed
I'm always on the lookout for new projects to share with the community :)
Thank you. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for reviewing CodeX. Maybe it can become a solid piece of software in the future, but as you have mentioned, there are some flaws with it. At the moment I like to use BookStack for my documentation and I like that you can actually upload and connect files to a specific page. For example, you have a network plan, and you want to attach it to “My Infrastructure” you can do this and no matter in which format. PDF, TXT … everything works just fine.
I've been using BookStack for a while now and love it!
@@DBTechYT Yep, same here, why I mentioned it. Nowadays, it seems we have a tool or program for everything. So awesome, especially when we can self-host it. Our data stays ours and private. Data seems to be new gold, esp. user data. :)
Had been fiddling around with it for some minutes to find the exact same problem with the nesting. Seems not mature enough for my purpose yet.
Thanks for this, Dave. I like the editor but for layout, etc will stick with Mkdocs-material for now, I esp like how it has history stored if you keep your markdown files in a git repo (and they had dark mode available).
Thanks for watching. I'll have to take a look at Mkdocs-material! :)
Documentation is something that I have nothing for right now. I keep defaulting to notepad and then lose or move and forget the files. I would like to find something that I can have open to document stuff when I am working on things. I really need to figure that out some day lol.
Seem that copy and paste code from `codex` couldn't keep the original format. All line feed and tab spacing are changed.
how edit logo for CodexDocs?
Hi and thanks for making this video 👍 I prüfer Trilium bacause of one very important feature: I can activate synchronisation of different running instances (for example docker on my server and a desktop app), so that every word I write in one instance is synchronised in realtime to the other instance. So I have all my documentations when my switches or server are down (local desktop app) and I always have a backup on my server, if my client crashes. In my environment I have one server docker and 3 different client apps (Windows, Linux and Mac). I once had the problem, that my fileserver crashed and the documentation for a recovery was on the fileserver… With Trilium that’s no langer a problem 😁
I use Trillium too just like the way you have it setup but via web interface. I like the fact that you have sync option enabled across different platform. I would love to set it up that way too. Care to share the steps?
Cheers!
@@lezz27 What if your local network card does not work any more? I would recommend to use a local app that syncs to a server instance.
@@Glatze603 Is it easy to make the local app sync back to the server? My Trillium is running on Docker.
Nevermind I was able to figure it out. It was nice and easy. Thanks again for the insight.
@@lezz27 yes and yes 🙂
any tutorial on doing this in portainer?
Thanks for the video,Dave.
Howz your health holding up?
Thanks for watching. My health is a constant thing I have to manage, but I'm holding in there. Changed a few things around lately and am feeling better in my head. Thanks for checking in! :)
@@DBTechYT Hang in there brother.. hang in there.... Will keep you in my prayers.
Have a nice day.
The docker image from codex docs repository has stopped update for over a year.
Yep. And maybe if enough people see it, the devs will be more active about updating it. Or, maybe another dev will see the project, fork it, and start a new development maintenance on it
Thanks for the content Dave. I'm looking for a new notes manager, as an alternative to Notion, what do you think of appflowy, have you tried it?
I like Notion's freer structure, for creating notes with the possibility of putting together my layouts
I would like to host it on my server and avoid Notion's 1000 block limit, which by the way I reached :( .
Hi! I haven't taken a look at appflowy, but I definitely will!
Thanks! I eagerly await!@@DBTechYT
Nice review. I had never heard of this. I will likely spin a copy up and play around with it. Although I am a HUGE fan of Trilium and work in it daily. How do you think they compare?
This is meant for simple documentation of, say, an app or service. Trillium is a much more in-depth note taking application
Share ANY DMS solution that provides rich storage option and workflows like mayan edms but mayan is not user-friendly to deploy
First Statping-Ng with 2 years without updates. Now CodX Docs with 1 year without updates. Is this normal? From a security point of view it's not really good, especially via Docker since the images are not up to date. I avoid projects that are no longer maintained, I don't want to end up with a service that I use every day but at the end of its life.
That's fair. I think if enough people show interest in some of these projects, the devs might start getting interested in them again. I just like showing what's out there.
Also, this may expose another developer to the project and make them want to fork it or continue developing it.
I totally hear that
BookStack
Um. Okay? I use BookStack as a public-facing service. I just like to show other options for people to explore as, sometimes, a service like BookStack might be overkill for a simple documentation of a product or service.
Does this look a lot like Notion or is it just me?
It definitely looks similar
great, but no dark theme! 😢
Agreed
No dark mode; I'm out.
