I'm surprised to see this video for a specific reason. I am a vet with PTSD. I got a cheap Yamaha acoustic and while I can't play it I spend time with it every day and sometimes can get what to me is a nice rhythm going. I DO find it very calming. I do wish I knew how to play it, don't know a single tune, but it is very important to me. I don't know guitars4vets but I absolutely support the idea of music therapy, never heard of it before.

www.guitars4vets.org Steve- there are Lots of RUclips videos teaching people how to play. Any style any level. Learning rhythm is awesome. You can even pull up a drum beat to play along to on RUclips. Any beats per minute. Anything you want.

I’m not a vet, but I’m 67 and I have a lot of friends who are. I’ve sat with them and seen the calming effects a sweet guitar tone can have. If you search on here for “open tunings”, you can learn to tune your guitar to a chord. It’s the same as tuning to standard A_440, but when you strum the ‘open strings’ you get the chord tone you are tuned to! There are many videos also on the 1, 4, 5 positions, or ‘country chords’ of a song. The 1 is all of the strings open, no fingering. The 4 is all of the strings on the 5th fret with your finger laying across the fretboard. The 5 is all of the strings on the 7th fret laying your finger across the fretboard. No complicated fingering, easy to learn very quickly, and very rewarding! I hope this helps, even if just a little! Thank you for your service my friend.!!! Gary

I've had my Echo Live for about 2 months now and I can't put it down. Great customer service. Stunning look . Easy playability and a great unplugged tone. Run this through a decent acoustic amp and I guarantee that the audience can't tell the difference between the Echo and my $2200 Gibson. Just wish the Echo came in a cutaway version.
    Great job Orangewood.
    Great job Phil!

So I purchased an Orangewood Oliver which is the mahogany acoustic about a month ago. The fit and finish and set up was superb. I opened the box, took it out of the included gig bag and tuned it. Thing is amaze-balls. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Oh, it was $195 and I used a 10% off code from a RUclips channel and it knocked it down to $175. Absolutely worth the money. Don’t be in the fence. Just order one and you will love it. If you don’t they take returns. Great company and really awesome that they can put out such a great product at an affordable price. Hats off to Orangewood.

I am impressed with your ability for honest appraisal while not being trite or snobbish or overly critical of product limitations. I own a Brooklyn model and an Oliver (all mahogany) - no electronics. For me, the all mahogany guitar plays great, but sounds a (little) boxy with clear fundamental tones (not a lot of overtones), but pretty good for a $200 guitar, especially when shipping and the bag comes with it. The Brooklyn plays even better and sounds MUCH better when strummed with a pick or played LOUD with fingernails - pretty open with good harmonics. When finger picked, however, it loses a little top end response and is a (little) muffled. Maybe this will get better as it ages (solid top). For $300, still pretty good. I noticed you didn't fingerpick this one or mention the fingerpicked sound. It IS harder to find acoustic guitars that sound great strummed AND fingerpicked. In my opinion, both my Orangewoods ARE well worth the money spent. Thanks for your honest opinion on this one.

I just bought a used Orangewood Rey mahogany guitar, and I must say it is a pretty decent instrument. Can it compare to my Martin? Of course not, but I definitely wouldn't be afraid to take it out of the house either...
I have it tuned to DADGAD, and it seems happy there.

I won hundred percent agree about the inlay on the headstock. I feel the same way. The rest of my echo is amazing looking but that crappy silk screen logo on the headstock is my one complaint LOL I really appreciate when a company takes the time to work on their headstock a little bit and make it look as good as the rest of the guitar. So perhaps Orangewood will see enough people commenting on that and start to do something about it. I know even they’re really cheap models some of them come with a holographic style logo which I would prefer over the one That’s on my guitar LOL it’s a small detail that shouldn’t matter but it does.

Have you ever considered just tuning your 25.5" acoustic down a half step and capoing the neck at the first fret? You would be pretty much in the same ballpark as a 24.75" scale length guitar plus it would have the lower string tension. It's just a thought . . .

Great communication, fast and accurate shipping and tracking information. Great follow up after you receive the guitar. I wish they would do a video about how to put the pick-guard on and line it up properly, because some of us don't know how to do that. I found an old StewMac video and did the best I could. But, these folks really do make you feel like you are important to them. Might be an illusion, but it's a nice illusion.

Can save some $$$ and just use vaseline or sewing machine oil on a toothpick on the nut slots. Or the old-school trick of pencil lead.

Phil, I have a problem with a Chinese Hagstrom Viking guitar. The neck is slightly bowed down in the middle so I tried to tighten the truss rod. It turned about 1/2 turn then bottomed our, not enough to get the bow out. I was hoping you could give me an idea on how to proceed. I THOUGHT perhaps I could loosen or remove the truss rod and place in a shin or a washer in there. Thanks. I’d like to email you so you could respond directly but I can’t find your address. Gavin. PS I’m a subscriber to your channel and website.

How do you think this stacks up to a Taylor Grand Auditorium as far as the tone goes?

I’m getting an acoustic guitar for my birthday on the 26th. I been playing electric for about 6 months. I’ve never played an acoustic. Any recommendations?

Can’t go wrong with a seagull original s6 or the entourage rustic s6 if your into the 300-400 range. If you’re willing to go up towards 800 the breedlove concert solo is an amazing acoustic. That’s from my experience. I bet these orangewood guitars would be great too but I have never played one.

I currently own a lower end breedlove and I absolutely love it. That being said the only reason I bought it was because it was slightly cheaper than the Seagull when I was at the store and I'm broke.
I have played 3 seagulls including a dreadnought and they are absolutely amazing guitars for the money. I remember in high school one of my friends brought one to school and at the time I really didn't know much about guitars or quality since I was a beginner, but the second I picked up the seagull and strummed it I knew it was a great guitar.
My next acoustic is 100% going to be a Seagull. I love my breedlove and would recommend the brand to anyone but Seagulls are fantastic.

Strap buttons on the side of the neck heel like your Orangewood suck. They interfere with the heel of the fingering hand. Guitar companies that put the strap button like Orangewood and most other bolt neck acoustic guitar demonstrates a lack of creativity.

I bought an Orangewood Echo Live and love it very most! I have had two students purchase them as well after playing mine. It's a very fine guitar to play out with! You also don't have to worry aboutit, if it grows legs at a gig/bar. I say this as an owner of a couple of Martin D series, a really expensive Taylor, and a pre-Fender Guild. These guitars (in the solid top lines) are an absolute STEAL for the price!!! I expect them to be a couple hundy more in a few months- and even then well worth it!
