@@stephonwilson4491 I forget, it depends on certain hiring needs/economic conditions…I am now working for BNSF, though, they offered first and am on train waiting to get signal to roll into Cicero yard.🚂

With new hires being on the 'extra board'. My main concern is not getting enough hours. Do new hires experience not getting enough hours?
Not anytime soon. There are literally YEARS of containers sitting in port that need moved. Because gas prices are so high rail is a cheaper alternative than trucking at the moment 👍🏻🚂
Do track workers have to take the signal test? And if you fail do they send you home? For CSX track worker
I’m 22 years old, my in person Interview is on Friday as a conductor I’m excited, nervous but mainly excited.
Got any tips? I’ve tried to prepare for the interview questions as best as I can. I would like to here everyone’s thoughts from their perspective about being a conductor.

@@collinposter9900 I did not. Not sure where I messed up. They just send an email saying “after the interview process and with careful consideration, we will not be moving forward with your application”
Like atleast tell me where I was wrong. Not enough work experience? Not professional enough? Man I really wished they would tell you why they didn’t except you. But that’s me.

I am about to start 12 weeks of class and training in Chicago for the UP, What will be the hard points to the training, I suspect learning the signals will be the hardest for me. What signals will they be and where can I start studying them ?
The hardest part is adjusting to the schedule. You will struggle with signals for the first few weeks but once you finish your initial testing it’s all about working this crazy schedule and doing it safely so that you make it home to your family

Second interview is usually scheduled within 3 weeks.

Focus on any experience that you have related to safety, shift work. Their biggest concern is your ability to adhere to the crazy schedule that the extra board provides during your first few years.

I have a video virtual interview with NS this week which I'm really excited about, but what is video virtual?
It’s a screening tool to eliminate candidates based on basic questions. They just want to know that you can handle the schedule and have a plan to make the adjustment to your lifestyle with your family
