      @@Gilbertory i feel like myself but with the added benefit that my brain isnt thinking a million things a second and i have the ability to focus. But it doesnt change things really drastically. I have made some changes to my life that i work on while im both on and off it and i find i almost dont notice enough of a difference to even remember to take it. that being said i do still take it primarily when im going to work but i feel good knownig im not reliant on it. The biggest differnce is my screen time, just by loking over my screen time for the past week/month i can immidately know which days im on concerta becasue the need to distract myself with social media goes away when im on it and my screen time drops drastically which i love!

    Thanks for sharing! I am 31 and recently testing a new medication for ADHD. My psychiatrist said "if it works, you'll know". I asked how and she just said "you'll know". Others with ADHD have told me it makes a significant difference and you truly do "just know" if it works. Although I feel like it may have helped me a little, I haven't gotten that "I know its working" feeling. I wonder if I am over thinking and then I also wonder about placebo effect too. Either way - its a weird process to diagnose ADHD and I am feeling a bit conflicted and confused. Is this relatable at all? Does anyone else have this experience?

      Exact same issue here. I’m in the UK so use Elvanse which I believe is the same as Vyvanse. However with this type of stimulant it’s wayyy more subtle than Adderall or other stimulants, so you don’t get the sudden up and not as bigger crash. So in that way it’s good, but you kind of expect a light to switch on etc. Watching a lot of stuff on RUclips people seem to exaggerate their feelings for likes I find, over exaggerate their ‘life changing’ feeling. I find it better since I took the approach of It won’t change your life alone, it’s a tool so your brain is better equipped to plan and execute your daily activities and longer term goals. If your able to stay on task and find yourself accomplishing more than you would before, then it’s a sign it’s working. Don’t overthink each feeling you have like I did at the start and over thought, because it may just be a natural reaction to something like you skipped a meal, not drank enough, somethings on your kind and bugging you etc. Try to judge over the course of each week not so much daily so you average it out. How this helps - I’m still looking to find the right dosage for me!

    • @PSG81
      @PSG81 3 года назад +3

      Its a Lose, Lose situation because any benefit is temporary. You will build up a tolerance over time and the dosages will keep increasing And then your back to square one because the side effects will take over.
      Medication is not the solution long term.

    I've been on Zoloft for anxiety, but was recently diagnosed with ADHD as well. That completely explained my life. I'm not hyperactive outwardly, but my brain is inside. I'm on day 3 of Wellbutrin, which is supposed to combat the fatigue and ADHD symptoms. This morning was the first time I woke up and my mind wasn't racing. It was oddly quiet. I still had thoughts flowing in and out, but I could focus on them and deal with them one by one instead of a million of them fighting for my attention. I also have a little less resistance to doing tasks and have been cleaning the past two hours. I also don't have a compulsion to goof off with my phone, etc. I'm actually more interested in getting caught up with work stuff. Crazy. Wellbutrin takes a few weeks to reach its full effect, so if this is day 3, I'm curious what it will be like at full strength.

      Interesting that you got such a rapid reaction with Wellbutrin - typically takes a week for any effect and 4 weeks to reach full efficacy. How are you feeling now? I am on Wellbutrin previously for anxiety and was recently diagnosed with ADHD and on Adderall XR as well now. The wellbutrin helped to calm mind and give space to view myself as an observer of myself, and the Adderall has helped to regain focus/concentration/ additional mental space, but still struggling with some impulsivity and the effects of years of deficient emotional self regulation trauma) .Curious how you are doing now.

    I hate cleaning! However, I do clean better these days. Been on dexaphetamine since February, diagonosed at 25, 28yo first time on medication. Such a change, but right now focus and stillness drops a bit. Although, when I don’t take my meds for two days, I notice the difference for sure and once I start again I’m happy with the stillness again. Also so much more energy, before I was always constant exhausted, but since switching to dexa it helped so much with my energy levels, being able to keep structure, not binge eat anymore when stressed, less stressed, less anxiety attacks, less emotional spirals. It’s not perfect, I’ll still have to work on my mental health, and lately work has been going shit due to COVID (really alone) which influences my ‘I don’t want to work!’ mode. But I’m generally happy, I should have tried at 25, because of stupid stigma I never did. Doctors also don’t really promote it, and they don’t really inform us properly. Not sure if that was just my experience?. But being back in and out of therapy, they wanted me on antidepressants, when one shrink made the link with adhd and thought, ‘hmmm, maybe we should focus on that first and see how it influences your daily live’. That was the fourth shrink since being diagnosed. And even now, calling in with doctors office about dosis, the reaction you get and comments/questions are really demotivating and makes you feel like an absolute fool.

    I’m not diagnosed yet but I’m prescribed concerta and idk if it’s working. My doctor doesn’t seem to know anything about adhd- I know I most likely have it, and she’s just ignoring me and telling me what my problems are even though I’ve explained many times. I’m 14, and I don’t think she’s helping me and i wanted to know if I should cancel the prescription and change doctors unless someone can tell me how concerta works?

    I’m on my first dose increase. How do I know that I’m feeling good because of the meds and not euphoric? Feeling great on a day to day basis is not something I normally experience so I truthfully don’t know the difference (I also have never had a euphoric high either so I guess I’m in the dark here) lmao

    I'm currently on Concerta XL and notice that three hours after I've taken it, I start to feel tired. Is that from the actual medication itself or is it possible I may just be dehydrated, etc? Seems pretty early in the day to experience a crash.

      Hello!! I am currently searching for my correct meds too (I have tried 3 already) and have had some different/weird side effects. I am also experiencing this issue of feeling absolutely exhausted on certain meds!! After talking to my physiatrist, he told me that if negative symptoms are lasting more than a few days OR if I just don't really see any good symptoms, to contact him again and change the dosage (and if that does work, then we change the med altogether). I have tried both 30 and 20mg Vyvanse and found that on the 30 I felt exhausted - this was likey due to the dose being too high I think. Unfortunately for me the 20mg didn't accomplish anything as far as the "good" side effects, but I no longer felt exhausted all day (so I just switched my meds completely). Obviously talk to your doctor but it is sounding like this dosage could either be too high for you or it could just not be the right med altogether. I hope this was at least somewhat helpful!! Best of luck.

      Im on 30mg Adderall IR . I’m on it twice a day and I honestly can’t tell a difference .you could be dehydrated tho and also I know for amphetimines , if your body is really acidic it will basically metabolize lighting fast and there’s also something called CYP2D6 . I just want something to work . I tried Focalin and it makes me so sick . I can take an Adderall at 7am and just go right back to sleep . It’s frustrating because I just want a solution

My body feels utterly drained. I feel like I have to push myself to get up and do something. I always had trouble sleeping I just don't know if its the medication or something else wrong with me. Can you please give me some advice?

I also started with Ritalin but it made me anxious so now I'm on Adderall and it's been great and steady. I'd say talk to your doctor and explain everything you've been experiencing. If it's the meds, either your Dr. will lower your dosage or switch you to a different type of meds. I hope you feel better soon! (Again, not a professional)

I'd take it in the morning n it would just give me a confident, energetic boost n I'd be off to work feeling very motivated n focused on my schedule...but I just recently got prescribed Vyvanse again, 30 mg to start, n I cant notice any of those effects anymore. Not any. I get little shorts bursts of positive energy for a short time n that's it...I do remember this medication being effective at a higher dose n I was taking meds that im.not taking now as well such as suboxone n neurontin. I take Kratom everyday now n I dont know if that is masking the effects of my Vyvanse smh...all I know is I'm still an overwhelmed anxious mess that has many loose ends to tie n things to accomplish asap n I'm worried now

    Welp, I can certainly conclude from this video that as I suspected, my meds are again not working. Tell me what do you do when you've been through the gambit of stimulant meds and it stops working?? We adjust my levels and still. Now I am on a non stim and its effects are very little. My doc doesn't seem to know what to do with this other than to suggest over and over that I meditate. Let's think about that. I have poor focus and a racing mind and his solution is to meditate. 🤨 I know this is a drug tolerance issue but no idea how to deal with it.
