I'm a chip junkie. I still haven't tried making my own with my air fryer. It seems like a very energy and time intensive process for just a few chips. I still buy bags of chips, and have been buying the Terra brand chips which are made from sweet potatoes, taro, and other root vegetables, BUT, like almost all other chips on the market, are made using canola and/or safflower oil. If only they'd use olive or avocado oil!!! I'd pay the extra couple bucks gladly! People are still too uninformed about how bad seed oils are, so there's not enough demand to change to the better oils.
@@healthhollow7218 I don't understand what people find unhealthy about those oils. "ultra-processed" is a buzz word that has no meaning. The only bad aspect of seed oils is their high omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, which can be mitigated by eating food high in omega-3 fatty acids.
@@randomoneforstuff3696 everything is fine in moderation of course. I wouldn’t think it could be good for a person to be consuming these things all day everyday though. I have days when I eat chips and cookies 😉 there are also so many oxidized oils they use in fast food restaurants. Food getting fried over and over again in oil that is supposed to be changed frequently but who knows really! @@healthhollow7218 Of course. I don't really like the approach of that video, however. Pointing out that sunflower seed oil and canola oil are in nearly every fried product is basically fear mongering, as anyone who does any bit of cooking knows that those are the cheapest oils and thus would be the obvious choice for a company to fry their products in at a large scale. today i found your channel, and try directly the apple chips in my new airfryer. And after lunch i try your Bananas. Fantastic! Thank you. You have good recipys. Greetings from north sweden
Generally you will hear chips flying noise when chips are about to get cooked. So, I do check food regularly in between air frying & remove cooked chips. Alternately, you can use the air fryer rack over chips to avoid flying in the air fryer.
@@sweetspicyspecial2859 thanks I will try to get one that fits since mine doesn't have an extra one and I've tried to use the one that came with it but didn't work as well...
I just ordered an air fryer and I am kind of skeptical because of the times. In order to have all these chips ready which is like for one time use of 2 persons you need like 4 hours. Healthy or not not very practical. :(
Thanks for your feedback. I believe this is more related to experience where you should know when to stop slicing so your fingers don’t get too close to the blade. This is applicable to every equipment where hand or eye protections are needed e.g. kitchen knifes may need cut resistance gloves but do we wear gloves every time we want to cut something?
@@sweetspicyspecial2859 True, to a certain extent, but I guess I see a big difference between kitchen knives and mandolins. (I confess I've used my mandolin without the veggie holder, but just one slip was enough for me. I've NEVER cut myself with a knife as badly as I did with that mandolin - never, again!)

Amen!!!! I don’t know why they have to add all of those unhealthy oils. I like making my own, although it is very time consuming.

Way too much time spent
Not if you want to eat healthy!
Do it while watching tv, or listening to music. Perhaps a drink in hand. You won't notice the time

I cannot possibly give a "thumbs up" to a video that shows someone using a mandolin slicer with no hand protection.

Go to another channel that shows using protection w/steps for it before the cooking process then.
Only kids cut their fingers on that😭🤕🤣
@@quintanshelton7491 LOL. You might be surprised at how inept I can be.
Still no large company offers those options. .
I agree, there are very few options for healthy chips.
