KB Summer School 2014: MRA

This year we celebrated 50 years of Notting Hill Carnival with Playing for Real: On the Road. The music and dance was created by our professional team (Ruben Fox, Andy Grappy, Claude Deppa, Mark Kavuma, Sam Agard, Shayanna Dyer-Harris, Leon Hazlewood, Leila McMillan, Nicholai La Barrie and Dave from Cov!) and young Bloco Leaders over 10 days at the Southbank Centre with 152 young people aged 14-25 from London. We also had some friends join us from BeatLife in Liverpool and Drumestra/Foxford School in Coventry.
Costumes designed by Lesley-Ann Halls and created by Carolyn Ebanks, Iola Weir and Shirley McDavid with the help of some amazing Bloco Mums and Aunties!
The Summer School is funded by Arts Council England, Youth Music, Southwark Council, Lambeth Council, Team London Bridge and with generous in-kind support from the Southbank Centre.
