Kinetika Bloco is a performance group with an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dynamic dancers all in costume creating a "unique new British Carnival sound with a decidedly London edge" (BBC Radio2). We draw our influences from the Caribbean, Brazil, West and Southern Africa, New Orleans jazz, Funk and Hip Hop. Our members create the work with a team of professional tutors and help to lead the organization. Some of our 23 year highlights include: representing London as part of the 'Beijing 2008' Olympic Cultural Festival, performing at the London Jazz Festival, the Unveiling of the Nelson Mandela Statue at Parliament Square, leading the Victory Parade at the end of the 2012 Olympic Games, doing our own Second Line in New Orleans, performing in the Queen's Jubilee and joining Ezra Collective on stage at Glastonbury

Kinetika Bloco to Cape Town
In March 2024 we were honoured to visit Cape Town with 30 of our young people and team for a research and development trip. We visited many different groups across Cape Town, did some workshops, performances and spent time learning more about the history, culture and music of South Africa. It was a life changing, impacting experience that we are excited to share with the rest of Kinetika Bloco as it shapes our theme for Summer 2024 - LEKKER.

Looks and sounds fabulous - hope to catch up with Kinetika Bloco in the coming months. BTW it sounds really good being able to hear the steelpans, so although the samba drums provide a mighty sound on the road, maybe consider a few more outings without them from time to time.

Heard this for the first time today on Radio 3 J to Z. What a gift of an opening tune. Such an intense mix of layers, depth and that big fat awesome bass menacing and bubbling all the way through.
