What a joy it was to be there and see this performance live! Watching it now (Feb 2021) is bittersweet - seeing "Luddy" in the KNC.

I can't wait to see Suzy again. I missed having lessons with her. And thank you for supporting my vision for the Adult Skaters Program I am developing. Great inspiration... thank you for your inspiration and encouragement. I can't say enough Thank you!!!

I never cared for this free dance. Even if they were firing on all cylinders (I understand they lost some training time because of Scott's back injury) I would have still put the Becks ahead of them in the free.

they were pushed down because of her fall in the cumpulsary dance and then stayed there .....there osp tango should have been no lower than 5th and although the year prior freedance was better i agree the becks were actually awful and were lucky that this team fell

It's funny, because I always loved this music (except for the last piece) and the performance. Ice dancing in Calgary was definitely a wide variety of styles, for sure!

Greg Fickas I am joining this discussion late, but I agree w/ @Greg Fickas that, despite the energy Suzy emits and the beautiful lines Scott creates, I think this couple was still very much a work in progress and, unfortunately, Scott retired prematurely, presumably due to his injuries. Suzy was still working on polishing her skills, so her lines in here were never really clean, her toes were rarely pointed, and she sometimes rushed a bit too much, resulting in her edges and knees getting unsteady and, at times, shallow-and Scott couldn’t always contain her. With an additional season or two, I am certain they would have overcome these areas of improvement.
The Becks weren’t flashy, so it may be hard to see the impressive quality of their skating, with steady/deep/controlled edges, consistently refined lines, as well as well-coordinated vertical and horizontal intricacies. But, it makes perfect sense that, IIRC, not one judge placed S&G ahead of the Becks in FD and, in fact, some judges ranked S&G below Engi/Toth or the Duchesnays. I think the judges were correct in not placing S&G over the Becks, for sure.
As for their slip & fall in CD3 here, despite the disastrous performance, most judges granted them pretty decent marks that didn’t seem to divert very much from the marks they would have perhaps given w/o the errors. So, I personally don’t believe CD3 held them back.
