I went to his solo show in Boston during his Into The Wild tour and watched him do this. It was like being in church. So spiritual. It still gives me goosebumps.
I absolutely love this performance. In case you didn't know the story behind this song. It's dedicated to the 9 people who died in the stage crash at a Pearl Jam concert back in 2000 in Denmark. Eddie Vedder was very emotional and traumatized at what had happened and dedicated this to them. it's also called "9 voices"
@@rebeccamarano5318I'm so sorry that you have to know the pain of losing a sibling. My little brother died in 2003 due to a drunk driver. He was 16. This song played a lot. I channeled my grief into Eddie channeling his own grief. And in 2008, I saw him do it live. Still gives me chills.
The first time I saw this was a spiritual moment in my life. I was dealing with the pain of loss and was having a hard time pulling myself away from dark thoughts. These sounds hit me like the sun through a patch of clouds and I remember thinking that all the beauty of this performance came out of extreme tragedy. It reminded me that things have their purpose, it just can't always be seen right away.
I saw him perform this a couple nights ago in Sydney as part of the Australian solo tour and it's impossible to articulate how powerful that moment was. The lights were turned out and you could just see the frame of his body as he poured everything into the song. It was like an out-of-body experience, in that moment you forgot you were physically sitting there and it was just about the music.
favorite thing he's done. sounds strange to say because it's lyric and pearljamless but it's probably his best song in just a pure, emotive, and totally unique way.
I have to concur with the previous posters, I had the privilege of hearing Eddie preform this in Oakland on his solo tour. I was left speechless afterwords. This homage to the fans that passed at the Roskilde Festival was haunting and inspiring. To imagine an artist would be so connected to the fans to write a piece that would never be heard by the masses or be played in the dance club is unexpected from anyone in the musical field. All the members of Pearl Jam are inspiring individuals
There's a primal quality to this performance. I keep picturing a caveman singing this. Like a stone age man loses his baby, and he starts belting this out to show his grief.
I had the honor of seeing Eddie sing this llve 6 days ago in Clearwater and I still get chills thinking about it. If you ever have the chance to see this man, you will be amazed. There is no video out here that captures his spirit and it will flow through you like a surreal dream. I'm not a religious person but this was as damn close as it gets.
That's exactly how I describe him. Watching him perform is like being taken to church. The emotion that man exudes without even saying a word amazes me every single time. I saw him perform this in 2008 and it still gives me chills.
This is my favorite Eddie Vedder. I listen to this while meditating, it exudes deeply spiritual gratitude. Thank you God. Thank you Eddie. All things that are interconnected, connected here.
This song was written for the 8 people that died in Denmark 2000 during pearl jams set. He loops 8 times for each person then screams over the top. Knowing this just makes the song even more emotional, spiritual and magical
I really love the fact that when i saw him back in 2012 at Bass Hall in Austin Tx i recorded the whole show on my iphone and was lucky enough to catch him performing arc at the end of his show... Eddie is a god.. Btw, please go on another solo tour.. Thanks!!
Allow me to be another grateful soul to testify about the power of seeing Eddie live. This musical venture is as close to peace as I have ever felt. I can feel this pass through me in ways that I can not describe. What an amazing experience.
Mr Vedder knows how to do keening and touch your heart. I listen to this when i miss my sister. keen: "lament," 1811, from Irish caoinim "I weep, wail, lament," from Old Irish "I wail."
By far the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. What an amazing, outstanding, man he is. I can not go a day without hearing his voice. Love Eddie Vedder!!!!
stellar! Saw you and the guys in Oslo in July 2012 ... Your voice breaking up, you gave the rest of it to us. Amazing performance, and we love you and the rest of PJ!
When that reviewer described "Ten" back in the day as "hurtling toward the mystic at warp speed"......well, this one is resting right at the highest door. If you ask me ;-)
..este tema me mata.....es increíblemente hermosa esa voz...esos tonos....esos acordes acústicos....es como una plegaria....no se...así lo siento yo.....bellisimo...
This, to me, was the only song on Riot Act where Eddie sang his true self. Perhaps it was smoking. Perhaps it was a lack of focus due to the obvious circumstances. But this song really grasps the essence of what Eddie is about and why we have all fallen in love with his voice.
I had the privilege to see Eddie do this live and it was a magical spiritual experience. Truly amazing. The audience was just in silent awe.
I got see him perform Arc during a PJ concert in Chicago, IL
Spirtual it was
😭
Oh my god I would give anything
I went to his solo show in Boston during his Into The Wild tour and watched him do this. It was like being in church. So spiritual. It still gives me goosebumps.
Best on earth 🌎
This must be what it sounds like in heaven!
I sincerely hope so.

+Brett Baker I feel this was sent to me somehow upon my sister's recent death. I thank him for it, whether he ever knows that or not.

This is why Eddie endures. He takes every ounce of pain and emotion and puts out there for all to hear.

Did you smoke a bowl afterwards?
He lays down 9 vocal tracks in memory of the 9 people who
died at the Roskilde festival.
I did not know that; I wondered what his motivations were. Beautiful.
I had no idea what the story behind this was thank you so much for sharing. It just gave this even deeper meaning for me!

No you are totally right this is a human soul calling out to the others 😢
I got more out of this than all of the Sundays I spent in church as a child. So beautiful and inspiring. A shining of light into the darkness.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan touched your soul. It's evident in this amazing gift. 🙏

How does this only have 220k views?! It's one of the most creative and beautiful things I've ever seen.

This voice....just freedom
Greatest vocalist ever. This made the hairs on my neck stand up high, throw their little hands in the air, and submit to the brilliance of Ed.
You can just feel his pain, it's excruciating 😪💔 A beautiful tribute to the life's that were lost 🙏🏻💜
Always be in my soul no one will ever sound like that every time I go for a surf away from all the drama in the world I hear that voice ❤

God touched this man all the way...
This is the proof for it...
There are no words in this song and there are no words to describe how beautiful it is.
Truely beautiful, from the soul.

The build up from serene humming to screaming wolf is just amazing. Ive listened to this somg so much and its still amazing!
That's The Wolf in his best form from Into The Wild...Superb!
I saw Eddie last November and it was outstanding. He was so good and funny and played a very long show with two encores!
By far the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. What an amazing, outstanding, man he is. I can not go a day without hearing his voice. Love Eddie Vedder!!!!

When that reviewer described "Ten" back in the day as "hurtling toward the mystic at warp speed"......well, this one is resting right at the highest door. If you ask me ;-)
This is truly amazing. It remind's me of the familiar I've watched disappear from me without me attempting to remember the time shared.
sigh. so beautiful. no words but yet, beats most mainstream music on the radio
conexión instantánea con la espiritualidad
Spiritually awakening.

Favorite performance, favorite musician in the world! #shameless #free
He touched it. I guess that's as close as we get. Jericho's wall and all.
Saw this the first time he performed it in San Diego 2003. It was truly amazing!
