If you have found this, preserve it like a gem in your ears, it is the pinnacle.
Thank you Eddy Vedder for introducing me to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan... his voice is a gift.
Deborah Pritchard really great... 🌷
Try Peter Gabriel, Signal to Noise, W/ Nusrat
Deborah Pritchard Amen!!
Eddie VIII you're right, most Western music is only electronic BS and meaningless lyrics about sex, drugs etc. Poison to the mind and soul. This is so beautiful,I understand that you are proud,I would be too :)
Eddie VIII That's beautiful my friend, yes, Amen, may he Rest In Peace. Blessings to you and your family.
The long version is a master piece. The movie is fantastic. Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn are so great and convincing that nobody who sees the movie doesn't cry at the end.
This is one of the best music on earth
Miki Nava exactly
you should listen few more tracks of "Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan", if ask for recomendation, only then,

this is the song version (short)
And the most underrated one
It's been 3 days this song playing on an endless loop. No imminent sign of stopping. I am a tad bit scared.
I hope you still enjoy...

It's crazy, mad... Doesn get out the head

Cannot be unheard...this is not a song..it's beyond that! it moves me like no other song...questions the meaning of life....when i close my eyes and listen to it, a slideshow of my past, present (and a possible future) just comes in front me. The ups and downs of my life...the tune makes me really feel every second of it. Growing up listening to Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, i cannot believe this one sits on top of everything. The ending with the harmonium and fading Rahat's voice....brings tear to my eyes
I hear you this piece of work touches into the deep recesses of my heart and soul, . I listen to it twice at day, as part of my meditation and prayerful practices. It is simply amazing.
*****{ "THIS IS THE-SONG I HAD PLAYED AT °MY~₩EDDING" ! }***** €¥£ ^
So you’re saying you like it?
It's Nusrat not Rahat. Rahat is the nephew of Nusrat.
@@aminulislamtanvin5381 no the voice in the end is Rahat not Nusrat
Most beautiful song in the world !!
And lyrics..."if we came to this world, then we must to love one each other"
Touches the soul, brings you out of the world of right doings and wrong doings.........no more words
Utterly sublime... West and East as One.... Touching all the senses, and the soul.... Sublime...
This is not just a song its a river of emotion. This song ripped my hear apart and took me to the eternity and beyond. You have no right to make me cry eddie vedder. How can you easily do this? Common , Im not weeping. What had happened to me? AM I really weeping?
This is the greatest piece of music in the history of man. It moves me like no other passage of music has ever done.
Nothing makes my heart sing like this gorgeous music....loved it ever since I first saw the movie...
Legend never die.
Nusrat and eddy vadder both are legend .
vedder
But Nusrat is dead.
@@mokujin29 not in hearts and minds
This song instantly takes me back 35 years ago or so. I remember being a young child and asking my blessed mother, "Why does Nusrat cry...weep as he sings?" I remember her answer, but I dont think I ever understood..felt what my mother said until this very moment, all these decades later.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” - Albert Einstein.
Simply beautiful
What did she reply?
@@heatherdaydream She said, that it was his deep and true love for spirituality and everything therein that flows outwards when he sings; i.e the tears were cause and effect from his lyrical verse created from an indescribable passion for all that is good yet unseen in our Universe.
@@agioni99 Your mum was beautiful
@@heatherdaydream Hi Heather, thank you so much. Thank God, she is still with us. She has been my best friend and angel in life. All of me which is good, is her. I never really had a father, or a big brother, my mom managed to be all of those things and then some. I was and am beyond lucky she was/is my mom, some people have no one and....it hurts to imagine that. I could probably write on a long while here, regards my mom and I would not do her justice. So Ill say, God bless her and God bless you and yours, Heather. You be well.

A masterpiece! Love Eddie & Nusrat together!💖
Such a beautiful track: Here's all involved! Eddie Vedder- vocals & guitar; Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - vocals & written by; Ry Cooder - bottleneck guitar & producer; Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan- harmonium; Joachim Cooder - goblet drum (dumbek); Dildar Hussain - tabla.
great music. but think why
You forgot Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is also on vocals.
You're right. Rahat too!
Eddie wrote Long Road. It's about his high school drama teacher. It's the b-side to I Got Id from the Merkinball single. The EP to Neil Young's Mirror Ball in which Pearl Jam were the backing band.
Everyone forgetting Ry but you. ❤❤❤❤ Someone further down mentions the slide guitar. Had to throw in who it was under his post
The notes he takes at 5:20 onward just gives me goosebumps and take my soul out
Actually accompanied by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (who still makes music) and his late father Farrukh (brother of Nusrat).
Loved Nusrat Father Ali Khan for Hawaii music already. This is a superb collaboration. Moving melodic harmonies and deeply felt lyrics. Eddie's voice so full of feeling
Eddie's voice is so nostalgic....and lost
Now i know Nusrat Ali Fateh Khan,it's all week this song keeps in my head, amazing isntrument
Nusrat Sahib was one of the greatest musicians that Pakistan had.
Absolute perfection....... and that slide guitar. ... gives me shivers
Sitar
Ry Cooder ❤❤❤❤
"Long Road"
And I wished for so long. Cannot stay.
All the precious moments. Cannot stay.
It's not like wings have fallen. Cannot stay.
But still something's missing. I cannot say, yeah.
Holding hands are daughters and sons.
And their faiths are falling down, down, down, down.
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.
Will I walk the long road? (the long road) Cannot stay. (the long road)
There's no need to say goodbye. (to say goodbye)
All the friends and family.
All the memories going round, round, round, round.
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.
And the wind keeps roaring. And the sky keeps turning grey.
And the sun is set. The sun will rise another day.
I...
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.
I have wished for so long. How I wish for you today.
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road?
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road? We all walk the long road.
Will I walk the long road?
Naval Kishore Barthwal amazing

Naval Kishore Barthwal i
Rahat's voice in the alaaps shines through, so beautiful and meditative!
You have a golden taste in music. Thank you for being here.
THIS REALLY IS THE BEST VERSION OF THE SONG. THE MOVIE WAS EXCELLENT AND REALLY MOVING. HOLLYWOOD DOESN'T MAKE CLASSICS LIKE THIS MOVIE. THE ACTING AND DIRECTION WERE IN A CLASS OF ITS OWN.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT.
Exquisite
Damn. Found Mr. Kahn in a rental return. This is this mashup I never I new I needed.
Amzaing! This always moves me to pieces. It's a Long Road to Forgiveness which is the ultimate theme of "Dead Man Walking", in my opinion., I love how Eddie Vedder's beautiful voice from modern musical culture of America and the West, brilliantly juxtaposes the sounds of the East, suggesting one day West shall meet East in a spiritual context, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. And we will return to the Light, and find Forgiveness! Just a suggestion on my Friday night rave! xx xx
Dale, indeed this masterpiece joins hands of East and West in Music in a way that is unique, reaches our souls as nothing could.... It is sublime... We are One...
More people need to discover this absolute gem. Why are the last comments from years ago???
The magical voice, the great Nusrat. No one filled ur gap in music.

Eddie Vedder, thank you for witnessing its existence. 🙏
when i was 18 i got the sound track to the film dead man walking. turned me on to so many styles old folk; Indian classical; still love this one even now. a truly forgotten great song
Try listening the feature songs and soundtrack of movie 'Bombay' and 'Roza' by A.R. Rahman.
not indian classic it is purely Pakistani sufi soul music
But past from India and pakistan
blessed with Sufis..Nusrat used to come to the Festival international de Jazz de Montréal.
I am so greatful you uploaded that song. It was and is still essential to me in this pandemic.
A piece of Heaven!
Have to take a deep breath to just prepare for this peace. Been to Morocco and experienced this type of intensity with my Moroccan in-laws during a forty day mourning dedication.

Voice of Heaven in a western movie on white racism.. classic work, brilliant acting, soul stirring music and great fusion of western music and Sufi music.. all time favourite

Is homeless at last
Atemporal...
life in sounds.
This song is beginning(life)to end(death),only these legends can sing this journey
Thank you for putting this version up. Hauntingly beautiful. Thanks for the lyrics Naval Kishore Barthwal.
Dead Man Walking was beautiful. I thought about the death penalty long before this film. Everyone seems to think about it for a minute and agrees it's the best solution to a problem no one wants to think about.
I asked a man why do you want to live?
He said "Because I don't want to die."
He asked me the same.
I said
"I want to listen to this till the earth is still revolving around the sun and the sun still rises in the east and the God is still there till the time no big bang thing happens."
❤
Voice of heaven
Proud Pakistani
Wonderful!!!!!!
2 of the greatest ❤️
Nusrat Fateh Ali is one of the all time great besides Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix.
Very haunting music. There is a sense of foreboding and permanence. There is the spectre of death.
Love the new phenomenon of mindless spreading of positivity!
One of my all time favorite movies
so deep, every aspect of this song is just amazing.
🕊️ un des titres les plus écouté de ma vie. Qu'est ce que c'est beau mon Dieu 🕊️

Amazing - I wish there were more collaborations like this, as I love how the two styles of music compliment each other. Eddie is Xspecial in this respect.... Would have liked to have heard him harmonize with Lata or Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle...
That's IT 😂❤😊

If you people like the great late singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan than you guys must listen to the living legend Abida Parvin. Listen to “Dost” by Abida Parvin from Coke Studio and must share your views...
Chef d'œuvre absolu..
sean penn eddie vedder love it
Wonderful!!!
I am lover of Jesus, I spend my days and nights serving at a Hindu Ashram and I believe Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to be the voice of God. I'm sorry I don't know about any religion
Nusrat was a devout Muslim
That's a nice sentiment and all, but Nusrat and his family were devout Muslims. That should be respected about him
one might be a muslim or christian or whatever.God isnt Muslim,He is God ,like a Sun shines on everyone ,different cultures call the Sun differently..
This takes you somewhere else
