I had a sistership to yours here in Belize. It only had a 55hp Johnson 2 stroke (all that was available back then) It ran in the middle 20's and got 4 to 5 miles per gallon. With the lighter stern it felt like a better sea boat than a buddy of mine's with a Johnson V4. IMEMSA builds a great hull!

Based on my own personal experience with the Panga 25 , you don't need a big rig to tow this type of boat. I have a 25 Foot Eduardono Panga with a 50 HP Etec Evinrude. I have an aluminum single axle Venture trailer that was designed for the 25 Panga. It weighs 700 pounds. The Boat, Motor, Trailer weighs about 2400 pounds. I tow it with a 2017 Kia Sedona minivan that I had fitted with rear suspension air bags ( Firestone ) and I added a transmission cooler. I launch at Saltwater ramps on Long Island and even with the Van in Eco Mode I pull the 2400 pound rig out of the water with hardly any effort. I still hear the guy at Panga Warehouse in the back of my mind telling me I wouldn't have the pulling power. Well, I pull the Boat out of the water like it was my 16 foot aluminum boat. No strain at all. I grew up in the 1970's when people towed boats with cars and I knew it was a bunch of crap what I hard. I'd still have my tiny 16 foot row boat if I listened to the pros??? Use your own judgement . If the vehicle says you can tow, believe it. The youth today are brainwashed that you need a pickup to tow boats.BTW, I'm perfectly legal towing this in NY with trailer brakes. If you delete this, please explain why. It's strictly my own personal experience .
Also, with the 50 HP Etec I go over 20 knots and will use less than 2 gallons each fishing trip on Long Island. I pity those with diesels that gotta pay $7 a gallon this summer. 25 Pangas are a God send these days.

    • @johnpalmer2158
      @johnpalmer2158 2 года назад

Maybe I'll have difficulty at a ramp or two , who knows? But if I pick nice ramps I'll be fine. If I launch 90 percent of the time at a good ramp where I have no difficulty, it's certainly better than sticking with a 16 foot aluminum boat because I feared getting stuck at a ramp with a Minivan. With the 25 Panga, looks are deceiving . You look at the boat, motor and trailer, it looks way too big for a minivan. But so far i've handled it with ease. I'll send you a video if you don't believe me. Funny pulling up with a 25 behind a minivan and the F250 Guy next to me has a small runabout .

It’s crazy what your brainwashed into by most folks.
I too spent my youth fishing LI in the 70’s-90’s.
I and many others towed boats large and small with cars. Lol. Buick Lessbres, my 86 Pontiac Grand Prix towed my 17’ side console 48hp boat all over the north fork. Most challenging beach to land at was Truman’s . Pebbles everywhere, but the car would just do the job.
I’m seriously considering a panga for my new life in coastal NC for pamlico sound fishing and maybe some “light” offshore fishing.

@@secretjourney4815 The Eduardono Panga is the Best , the Imemsa Panga is crude looking. I bought my 25 last summer, the Bare Hull was under $10,000 around $9500. The Bare Hull is very fishable ,you can also get the boat with a full self draining deck. I got mine with removable floors thinking I could remove them for trips up to Lake George. Wish I got the Full fiberglass deck ( only 2 or 3 thousand more than the wood floor model) because my front wheel drive minivan has zero trouble pulling this out of the water even when it's dead low tide and it's a very steep ramp. Best video I have seen about Pangas. I had an 18 foot Imensa myself. Very good boat for the money. The thing I never figured out in the panga design is what the foam ring or whatever I should call it that surrounds the top of the boat is for . The only thing I could come up with is to keep it afloat in case the boat gets flooded ? Maybe somebody knows.

I won an "Aquaforce" which utilizes a panga "bulbous bow and sprit" which is vastly superior for bay fishing but absolutely a no go on the open water. In theory this is good for the open water given its simplicity and ruggedness. I would absolutely add a jack plate and at a minimum "affixed"(spring loaded) trim tabs but other than that excellent start on a bulletproof hull.

A 25 Foot Eduardono Corvina weighs 915 pounds !!! You could also buy the 25 Foot Eduardono Dorado and that weighs 750 pounds. Amazing how they make those boats so light weight. I was looking at an 18 foot Alumacraft Summit that weighed 900 pounds. Man , the Panga is so much better and the same price. For less than $14,000 I'm getting a 25 foot Eduardono with beautiful wood floors, 5 bench seats, fiberglass pads for seats/console, the fuel tank /battery, Navigation lights, 4 stainless steel cleats, and aluminum keel protectors , 4 rod holders. I'm buying a 60 HP Suzuki in the future, for now I'll have to use my 25 HP Mercury because it's a long wait to buy Outboards. I figure even with the 25 HP I'll do 7 or 8 knots. More than enough for local bay fishing off Long Island. I prefer Eduardono because you can get the boat in different colors, it's less money than the Imemsa , has the splash well and anchor locker already included in the price- No extra And You can get the Eduardono in just a bare hull and have a nice fishing boat ready to use. The Imemsa is not available in bare hull because it's a honeycomb design. Since it's so narrow, I might add rowing oars, very useful when fishing narrow channels off Long Island or fishing on lakes and you don't wanna start the motor. Tiller steering, an 8 Foot Bimini Top, Swingback Cooler seats and this boat will be a lot of fun. This boat might get better gas mileage than my 1973 Ford LTD use to get !!!

Is the boat built with wood? I see allot of the guys in Mexico running 30hp and 40hp motors with 6hp kickers going 200 miles offshore using 20 gallons of fuel. The lighter smaller hp motors i heard are better to run on these boats. Also your MPH is way down. You should find a prop store that will allow you to test 3 blade props with higher pitches like 23 pitch props as you should be getting high 40,s to 50 mph with a 115 and the right prop

On my 25 Eduardono, me and my brother (combined weight about 600 pounds) stood on one side and it hardly tipped. It's flat towards the back and the flat back is a like a fan underwater . When it rocks back and forth the flat hull slows how fast it rocks. Put your hand on top of the water and lay it flat , try pushing down and feel the resistence. The Panga is beautifully designed . It has a V in front that cuts thru waves, it's flat in back and glides over the water. All around the hull is a flotation bulge , I read somewhere that it'll turn the boat right side up if it ever capsized.

All depends on the wind, interval and how many swells there are. It will handle some bigger waves but I won’t go out over 3 foot. Unless there’s low wind and a good interval. Rougher it is the slower you typically have to go as well so that’s a big factor when trying to plan longer trips.

how do you think a 50hp yamaha four stroke would do on a 25' panga? do you think it would get on plane?

My 25 Eduardono Panga has a 50 HP Etec Evinrude and I'm easily going over 20 knots on a nice plane. Boat has wood floors , tiller control, fiberglass Bench Seats and weighs about 1300 pounds. $10,000 for a Bare Hull 25 foot Eduardono. Nicest Bare Hull you can fish with and walk in. You don't need a deck .

Skip to where I talk about where to find a panga and I talk about it.
If you don’t have time a quick place to ask is panga boat owners and Facebook. They should give you ample info

I'm 58 and retired with a lot of money, I bought my 25 Eduardono because I can tow it with a mini van very easily and it's perfect for me. Economical , cheap to buy, plenty of fishing space and extremely simple. Way better than expensive Makos . Love the high bow.
