I think a Fairbairn/Sykes dagger would throw really well and go DEEP. The problem is the one that I have is an antique from Africa in WW2. Replicas are available though.
when you learn to throw a knife, you also learn to throw pretty much anything. a sharp stick, a fork, a large screw driver, maybe a chizzel. point is you don't always need a knife or multiple knives. learning to throw lets you pick up almost anything from your environment that is sharp and use it as a weapon. imagine being in a mechanics shop and some one tries to attack you, you have like 50 different screwdrivers. imo this adaptability and flexibility is exactly what the military needs. guns do jam, ammo runs out, dumb shit happens all the time so the more skills you can rely on, the better. a knife could also have a message attached to it and if you can make it stick high in a tree for some one else to get, that's also useful. a knife can mark a path. being able to stick pretty much any sharp object into anything at a distance is a very useful skill. last point, if you practice throwing and people know you practice throwing and have a lot of knives, the odds of you getting attacked is much lower. maybe you have a nice car and I want your wallet but if I know you spend a good amount of time throwing knives, I would probably reconsider and try an eser target. criminals want the easy way out.
In 1980-s the hungarian paratroopers had a puukko style knife, which was also used as throwing knife. As I know, it was ment to throw from the seath directly.

The American Navy in WWII had a destroyer that the crew were throwing potatoes at a enemy submarine's crew when they collided & their guns were unable to fire in that proximity to each other. 😅
I don't understand why anyone thinks knife throwing is not dangerous or lethal I'm getting up to an inch of penetration with a throw when I try and stab the same target manually I get about 1/4 inch. I would think no spin is ideal for close defense as a half spin has a longer minimum range no?
So according to my information, some Poland's special forces units were still teaching knife throwing skills as a part of every soldiers skill arsenal back in 80. and 90. I'm pretty sure that elements of knife throwing are still being thought in some units and I belive if you can have that one more skill like military half spin which is not so difficult to learn and practice than why not? 🤔 A specially that you don't necessarily have to throw YOUR knife at the enemy... You can disarm one enemy, take his knife and throw at the other enemy. But you need that skill and you need to know HOW to throw and what. Same, you can throw other objects, like random sharp objects, nails, spikes screwdrivers using same technic so it doesn't has to be a knife BUT throw anything you need to know how. So of course throwing away your last weapon is stupid BUT if you're sure that one throw can give you some advantage or chance to win than stupid would be not to try it. But again you need to HAVE that skill and technic SO you need to learn it and practice it. Haters gonna hate Adam, so you don't worry brother. You keep showing us and explain different throwing technics please and of course there are thousands of scenarios in life that you might use it or not. And IT ABSOLUTELY DOESN'T MATTER IF SOLDIERS ARE THROWING KNIVES OR NOT! A COMMON FACT IS THAT TECHNIC HAS BEEN THOUGH IN MILITARY IN THE PAST BY MANY COUNTRIES. Is it smart to use it in combat or not it depends of a situation you're in. So that question can't be answered clearly YES or NO. Beside that THROWING IS A GREAT ACTIVITY AND IT'S A FUN SKILL TO HAVE! And that's what matter the most! You're doing great job brother promoting such a traditional skill and exercise, so don't stop please and take care! Thank you! Best regards from Poland! 🌳 🌲 🐗 🌲 🌳
All these throwing techniques make sense in close combat (self-defense) max. up to two meters (no spin). Using it at longer distances in combat is already a problem. The flight time is already quite long, and in the case of a spin throw, distance estimation - darkness, different environments (indoor, outdoor, close space, wide area, etc) all have an effect on distance estimation, especially if you have only one "shot". In the case of no-spin, their 100% technical implementation is necessary to ensure the correct insertion of the tip, and this can be a problem under stress, and of course also the accuracy of hitting a target that can move on longer distance can be problematic.
Maybe in combat scenario knife throwing is nice bonus skill what you can learn, but my option is that knife skills is main thing learn and throwing is that nice bonus. Because like you said there are situations where can use knife throwing skills but usually before that there is many way answer to risk. Under adrenaline many throwing techniques is veery hard doing but of course if you can train under pressure maybe then. Without that even the best throwers may have problems throw good throw and hit blade ahead. But just my option and I can be wrong too
I think the old addage "two is one, one is none" fits here, iykyk. I haven't served in the military but I know people who have and the idea that they don't throw their knives during "hurry up and wait" periods is hilarious. Especially with how competitive soldiers can be. Is it a skill specifically taught in the modern military? Depends on the military and the unit. Do soldiers only practise skills taught by the military? Nope. Knife throwing is alive and well and seen as an important skill by a lot of vets and enlisted, especially Special Forces. The idea that they don't carry knives specifically for throwing and for fighting is also pretty silly.
Adam my friend, Im sorry for any and all the chumps that ask stupid questions and make lame comments you see what so much of that is is these little mamas boys living in their mommys basements that cant imagine throwing a knife let alone actually doing it and having it stick! If Im about to be say captured or taken prisoner and I have a heavy (blade) its coming out fast and hitting somebody! I will not lie down and I will not go quietly! CONGRATULATIONS on your viral video bro! Peace My Friend!
Hello and thanks. You allais use this glock knife, do you think it's the Best military or not only throwing knife to throw ? Do you Know other good knives not made to throw vers nice for throwing (lire Bowie, Russian Bayonnet...)
knife throwing in the modern context: for fun and learn a new skill also in the military, they are collage age kids so throwing knives would be something they would do
I don't agree with you. The military DOES use throwing knives. I was in the US military, and in the navy, and there were unquestionably people interested in throwing knives. The general posture of the military with all combat arts that are not part of training is this: our orders are your priority, we encourage recreation that contributes to your skills. In the past , training was focused on people with virtually no skill and training them to carry out basic combat orders. However, in today's modern military it is expected that soldiers are professional soldiers who pursue skillsets on their own time that contribute to their professional development. There are no combat arts that are excluded from this encouragement. Also, if a soldier is able to carry all of their equipment they are ordered to carry, and then on top of this is able to carry some extra knives or an extra pistol, they are encouraged to do so where safety allows for it. (for example, in many many places even on military bases it is required that firearms are stored in approved armories, and are not allowed to be kept in barracks or other personal spaces) . In the past and even in the present there may be people training to not throw your combat knife, but bans on hardware are always mission specific, and today largely focus on things like cellphones that may give away ones position. Boot camp probably does not train throwing knives, and probably trains to never throw your knife, but this is not a military wide order, this is part of the training regimen to focus recruits on learning the most basic combat techniques. If a soldier then uses their recreational time to train in throwing knives during their career, and finds themselves going to the front, they will unquestionably be encouraged to bring their skill, and practice while deployed. Most people , however, choose a pistol and a pocket knife if they buy and train extra weapons. Some people really do train throwing knives and leadership does approve.
Did you watched whole video my friend? I literally said that there is knife throwing in the military, I was just not sure about EU or USA at least in modern time so thank you very much for your comment and service 🫡🪖
I did.. but you did say not in the US military. This is a common conversation among people in the military, with a common statement being the whole "don't throw your knife away" , but to my knowledge it is not a position of the military to not throw knives at all , , and it is in fact a position of the military to encourage all martial arts and the use of them where appropriate. It is likely, however, that in training recruits are discouraged from throwing their knife because it is a bayonet, or a wire cutter, or that they are very unlikely to be better off having lost it. But advanced training will overrule many of the basic training concepts.

Being good at throwing knives means you can throw many other things, nobody expects it too because its so uncommon. And if you are as good as he is it's effectively like being a walking leathal weapon. Just add other skills just incase but all in all it's definitely a good strategy combat wise just not easy to pull off so many dislike it.

You don't have to explain yourself. Different situations call for different things. In my opinion. If you think you're good with a knife. Then you know how to throw it. Combat training to just a tool. Skills are a skills.😊
Before he gets a chance I'm going to address these comments 20 seconds in. First off it's probably Gen Z and gen Y you guys are narrow minded stuck in anime lala land. LGBT Naruto 😂😂😂😂 Take a step back girls. Adam Celadine studied combat knife throwing this is a system that came out 14-15 years ago from Ralph Thorne. This guy used to bury blades from extreme distances similar to the Russians. Before everything was World War Russia people like that Vladimir Veselive and his team were showcasing combat sambo and the Tactical use of throwing knives. They used to do it blindfolded and they also used to spit razors. It's from the same tree. Adam took this a step further and went straight up Larz Anderson (someone you've probably never heard of) with a semi-automatic system of throwing blades. So you have no idea who you're disrespecting. Throwing your only weapon it's not a complete act of idiocy because these people knew how to destroy enemy sentrys with their bare hands. Through systems of chokes and neck cranks. They knew how to fight. You guys go to Safe spaces if you see so much as a UFC match. So they weren't throwing away their only weapon because you are the weapon. That's the philosophy behind combatives. That's how you could get away with chucking shovels at a bad guy's chest in the trenches. The mindset is, he's down I still got elbows and knees and teeth let's go. And to all of you tough guys what happens when your blade gets stuck in somebody's bones. Oh no you lost your only weapon in a dead bad bad guy. What will you do sniffle. Adam Celadin introduced a semi-automatic suppressed weapon system. One in which he can address multiple targets in a simulation with lethal results. Keep talking trash and I'll fight your dad. He's not coming back though😂😂😂😂 went out for milk.
@AdamCeladin all i can say from the video, is that knife throwing exists. in any group of people for entertainment reasons. for example the drawing from the civil war, shows me soldiers during their "spare time" throwing knifes at a tree. the clips from korea seem very much more for the entertainment. the example with someone armed with a machete or a longsword running aginst you with your malfunctioning rifle seems very constructed for modern times. this can happen, but why the hell don't you use your backup pistol. your point of in the best case always having a backup knife or whatever you use implies that you have to carry way more load in a combat or on a march than you need. and that is the last what you want as a soldier who has to be able to react quick and flexible. i can tell from my own experience. the next point is that this knife throwing thing seems at least a very special thing for people who anyway carry some knifes with them. in the field manuals, neither us army or special forces (as far as they are publicly available) is knife throwing not mentioned. maybe in some secret doctrines. who knows. you have convinced me to never ever throw my knife unless it is for fun. thank you for your hint to this video. anyway, who "brings a knife to a gunfight?"🔫
@@AdamCeladin Indeed, they are, all the time, saying the same thing... "Don't throw your we@pon this, knife to a g^n fight that, Bullseye hit me with a Wiffle Ball bat." 🤣🤣🤣
There was lot of war propaganda in WW2 about Native Americans so they will be more admited to society after the war and they came up with lot of stories like that.
@@charlesrobbins5683 This never happend my friend....IF he made the throw in to the neck it was MAX 15-20 feet but definitely NOT with spin throwing technique from unknown distance from 90 feet this technique seriously not work like that..there has been Champions trying to re-create this throw and could not do it in about 20 tries....its made up propaganda story to make them look cool
First. Your using the wrong type of knife. Millitary knives are usually handle heavy.. instead You want a one piece steel knife with cord wrapped handle. Paracord ideally.. maybe in a bright color till you don't lose it . Shape doesn't matter. Use what you like.as you get stronger and better. You'll realize that if you aren't careful you can snap a knife off at the handle easily hence the one piece knife and ricochet is often because the edge is too smooth. You want a slight rough edge on them to stick in wood. Too polished at the tip itll fail to stick
You must be here first time, watch my other videos ,) i have two companies for throwing knives...yes fulltang knife is of course better but this episode we discuss mainly military blades

that's what she said
He
No spin would be way better but it takes more time to learn compare to military half spin
I would love to know the mechanics of it but my throws always go deeper than my stabs.

I admire your patience, many haters are just lazy a** trolls
I seen these comments waaay to often its good to address it ,))
I'm too stupid to comprehend the answer = your stupid 🤦♂️

Don't have a link, but there's an old army training film that shows throwing a knife, from the sheath in a half spin.
I can do this technique no problem
Would you rather throw a knife at someone coming at you or wait until they get there.

But just my option and I can be wrong too
6:51 Me loosing 5 knives in the bush on a single practice, would actually make me happy if the guy could find them 😂
I think the old addage "two is one, one is none" fits here, iykyk.
Thank you my friend i agree

@@tsmspace that's amazing and interesting thank you

Being good at throwing knives means you can throw many other things, nobody expects it too because its so uncommon. And if you are as good as he is it's effectively like being a walking leathal weapon. Just add other skills just incase but all in all it's definitely a good strategy combat wise just not easy to pull off so many dislike it.

Facts brother 😎🫡thank you
@AdamCeladin all i can say from the video, is that knife throwing exists. in any group of people for entertainment reasons. for example the drawing from the civil war, shows me soldiers during their "spare time" throwing knifes at a tree. the clips from korea seem very much more for the entertainment. the example with someone armed with a machete or a longsword running aginst you with your malfunctioning rifle seems very constructed for modern times. this can happen, but why the hell don't you use your backup pistol. your point of in the best case always having a backup knife or whatever you use implies that you have to carry way more load in a combat or on a march than you need. and that is the last what you want as a soldier who has to be able to react quick and flexible. i can tell from my own experience. the next point is that this knife throwing thing seems at least a very special thing for people who anyway carry some knifes with them. in the field manuals, neither us army or special forces (as far as they are publicly available) is knife throwing not mentioned. maybe in some secret doctrines. who knows. you have convinced me to never ever throw my knife unless it is for fun.
thank you for your hint to this video. anyway, who "brings a knife to a gunfight?"🔫

You are funny i literally have Glock 78 - Austrian Military Knife :D
You must be here first time, watch my other videos ,) i have two companies for throwing knives...yes fulltang knife is of course better but this episode we discuss mainly military blades
