    I understand honeysuckle is an invasive species, but I don't understand why people hate it! I simply love the smell of its flowers in the Spring and early Summer! It is the best-smelling perfume I've ever smell! Now I'm gonna make me some honeysuckle tee this Spring! Thanks for a great idea!

    I would love to see videos of the different drinks you make
    Yarrow is one I forage the most. It is so bitter. I only know to use peppermint or raspberry to flavor. Do you have any ideas on this?

    Honeysuckle tea. Great stuff! I gotta say, totally awesome to hear you say where are you going to your kid and the answer be "I'm getting some spearmint!" Can't ask for better than that! I just got some spearmint myself. Looking forward till when I can harvest and make tea with it.

    Think of all the millions of gallons of tea I could have had. Just finished ripping out 400’ feet of fenceline Honeysuckle. It was so tall and spread out so wide that it was consuming an acre of land. Now I’ve tilled and planted grass to fill up the bare area. Next year the Honeysuckle will start to grow again. It’s impossible to keep it away from that fence. The Honeysuckle was “tree sized” at the bases. So we had to rip the stumps out with a dozer. We saved the larger wood for burning in the fireplace this winter. Neighbors tell me that the wood is so dense that it will rival a good hardwood for BTUs.

      Honeysuckle grows wild here in 7b all the way to the coast. I’m not sure about your zone. It grows so well here we don’t cultivate it at all. Honeysuckle is often growing wild on fence rows and can be smelt from pretty far off. Sorry I don’t have specific recommendations for you friend!

    Be careful with the leaves as they can be toxic at higher amounts. The flowers are fine

    • @HearthandDome
      @HearthandDome  6 лет назад +8

      Most honeysuckle species are high in saponins. According to my research you'd have to ingest LOTS of tea from the leaves specifically to have negative repercussions. Most commonly this just includes mild tummy trouble like nausea.
      Honey Suckle tea has been used for centuries and IS a safe beverage. I recommend people do their own research though and use discretion. Thanks for bringing up such an important point! :)

    You’re only supposed to pick just the flower only. Your going to destroy honeysuckle. Also it’s best if you dry out the honeysuckle.
