    Do you know what I really dig about you Daric ? You're down to earth.
    You be killing it on a Squier Jaguar while others can't begin to groove on boutique basses. It does to show you that the real value behind a bassist or any musician is found in his musical vocabulary.

      Feras Boulala this man is not only a good teacher, he is cool somehow. And plays great, that music in the intro of the video (the slapping funky thing) sounds amazing.

    This unique combination of these three chords (playable in all keys) is played on a loop and you can practice fantastic solo and enjoy the harmonic sounds and even be a bit proud to re-smell the world of jazz. It's a long way from there, but the beginning is over! Thanks again for your clip series, there is one clip more interesting than the other ...

    Good stuff. I like to think of myself as an "intermediate" player, and this lesson is very apropos. Like a lot of bassists, I sorta understood the major point, which is: You have to know which notes sound good when played in succession or together. I've known for a while, more or less, which notes on the fret board will sound good when I play them. But I didn't understood the concept of using a Mode to help determine the specific sequence of notes and/or chord. I just learned what to play by trial and error with minimal understanding of the Theory behind it. Thanks

  • @JimDandy69
    @JimDandy69 7 лет назад +9

    Man... I am self taught by ear and have been playing for over 20 years, in many bands, touring, etc... I have tried to figure out this theory stuff as well as scales and modes for years and years on my own but it has just never clicked for me and throws me off my groove trying to think about it. A few days ago, my brother showed me how he discovered using modes from a video from the 70s or something and it was explained to him in a way that it all clicked an made sense, and literally overnight his soloing has gotten so sick. (He had lessons before so it was easier for him to catch it maybe, but what he was telling me still made my head spin) How he explained the modes, what I wasn't getting at all, was figuring out (the 2 and 5 of the C) that those root notes represent a mode by the number they are in in relation to the 1... He was telling me this and it was making some sense but was still so confusing... Like "how do you know what mode?!!" I surprised myself by guessing the mixolydian right on this, just from how you explained the first part. You're a great teacher man. Not a lot of rambling, very simple and to the point and easy to understand. Once this stuff catches with me and I am not ONLY relying on my ear and instincts, it is gonna open up a LOT of stuff for me where I tend to improvise heavily. But I would say you definitely cracked the door with this vid man. Seriously those dots were just NOT connecting on how you know what mode to choose for each note... Until I saw this and I feel like I just got my first little breakthrough with this! Subscribing. Now I need to get the modes ingrained in my muscle memory!! Any tips on that?? LOL
