  • Bertrand Russell, the British mathematician and philosopher, wrote an essay in 1927 entitled “Why I Am Not a Christian.” One of several reasons he gives is “The curious story of the fig-tree, which always rather puzzled me.” He describes the emotional reaction of Jesus cursing an innocent fig tree in this story as lacking the wisdom and virtue of Buddha and Socrates as one of many reasons he does not believe. Our study this week is this curious story of the fig tree.
    A study of Mark 11 12-25 based on "Explore the Bible: Fall 2023" from Lifeway. This is the ninth lesson from Mark prepared by Gary Stieber for Houston's First Baptist Church.
