I was born and brought up in Swansea, Wales in the late 60's around the streets mentioned in this story. The imagery rendered by Thomas here is blindingly accurate. Thousands of my fledgling evenings were spent hopelessly trudging the cold, soaking streets with friends willing desperately for something to happen. Eventually of course, it did. Dylan was a master wordsmith.
Thanks for posting. What a brilliant, atmospheric short story. Remember reading this in an o level English class and being captivated by Thomas's rich, original sentences with their unusual constructions. What a talent he was (despite being inebriated for much of his life). An excellent short story.
Michael Sheen and Dylan Thomas are the perfect combination. Welsh language and accent should be so much more knows outside

I have never heard this before and was just swallowed by it. I thought it was a poem not a short story. How I enjoyed this wonderful writing. Brenda
I absolutely relished Michael's reading, what justice to Dylan's writing.
