Brilliant! It was felt at the time by Austin Rover that their products were now on a par with the other car manufacturers and that what let them down was poor customer service , hence this video. I worked for a dealer at the time and remember watching this vid haha.

@@barnbersonol Get over it. It had 160hp. Almost everything has more than that today. I had a 1.6HLS as my second ever car. It was only 11 years old when it went to the scrap heap with terminal chassis rust. Useless. the only good thing about it was the VW sourced transmission.

If Austin Rover felt the need to produce a sales training video on how to cover the basics like being courteous to the customer then their Dealerships must have been awful.

With the benefit of hindsight and this video, its easy now to see why Austin-Rover was always doomed. This sales video needed to be made at expense i can only assume because their salesman were treating potential customers so badly.

I think the later ones were sound cars, my Grandad had one of the first 1990 Roverised Montegos. It was a comfortable and well built car the problem is the styling was very date by then as the MK3 Cavalier and Rover 400 had just come out. I think the Montegos were cheaper though.

The things you had to do to buy a flippin' Maestro back in 1984! If you had to put with dimwit salespeople like at this dealership, no wonder potential buyers went running! (I know it is just a demo video, but did AR training really have to tell their salespeople to be professional and courteous? Couldn't these dealers have figured that out? Man, I was born at the wrong time in the wrong place....)

Typical Austin rover Group and also BL ... Notice the trim on the passenger side windscreen pillar ? It's coming away at the top. Crap cars, crap build quality. Small wonder people went to other manufacturers, all had faults but BL / rover group were dismal and shoddy.
