    For awhile I carried a cable firearm lock. These are padlocks which have a loop of steel cable instead of the normal shackle and everything is coated in plastic so it won't mar the gun. They come free in the box with a new firearm and make a good improvised slung-shot. Now I carry an old Buchiemer Texan I came across along with a SIG 9mm, pepper spray and a high output, compact light. I like having options.

      Terrorists on both sides
      Antifa and right wing extremists.
      However its scarier when the terrorists have governmental authorities and openly display a counter flag to separate themselves from civilian Americans.
      Thin blue line is the terrorist organization to be afraid of.
      They have actual power, police word is taken without question even after being caught in lie after lie after lie(look into a popular case like Breona Taylor, police lied multiple times and its ignored)
      The perjury is veeeeeery rarely prosecuted because they work so closely with district attorneys and prosecutors.
      When you have militias planning on a kidnapping governor after trump told people to liberate the state, along with telling WS to stand back and stand by( which WS then used as propaganda to fund raise and recruit off of) this is when and what you should be worried about.
      A lot of times though, boot lickers prefer authoritarian leaders over democratically elected ones.
      Trump commissioned an investigation into vote tampering and vote irregularities in 2016 and they quietly disbanded because....... they came up empty handed. Yet he will call foul anyway this time around.
      Truly are troubling times

      mike gonz I have to be honest...frankly, if some punk attacks me, and I have done nothing to insight that violence, I don't care how much force it takes to stop the situation, I will use what is necessary to bring the attacker down. While I'm not setting out to take his life, if it happens, it happens! After all, I didn't ask to be assaulted, and if he would've minded his own business and not attacked me, he would still be alive! But, a sap would be a last line of defense for me. If I'm facing a deadly, violent attack, the impact from a .40 Glock will stop it quick. I am a man of peace, but prepared for war.

      The problem with this is if you knock someone out, then the fall and hit there head, then die. Now you are up on a murder or SM charge. It's would be perfect if it's a home defence tactic. The odds of shooting a family member is nonexistent, and better then hand to hand. Oregon does not let you have one on your person outside of you house. I have my blackjack on the table behind me now. Perfect for evil Ninjas. Lol

    • @larryhall2805

      @@heithm38 We don't have a robotic justice system where if you do A. then B. and C. are AUTOMATICALLY charged by the prosecution. The entirety of the situation is taken into account. If you're getting into fights or going to these stupid "protests" (riots) and you punch someone and they fall and die, then you're going to be charged. However, if someone tries to carjack you and you punch him and he falls and dies, you're VERY UNLIKELY to be charged with anything. It's an open and shut self defense case. In Oregon it is a class three misdemeanor to carry a sap or blackjack but if you're not hanging out in bars, clubs, concerts, protests, or downtown, you're not going to get randomly frisked by a cop. Oregon ain't New York City. Just don't have it in your pocket while driving in case you're stopped. Although a word of warning: A blackjack is much more deadly than a flat sap. A blackjack can crack someone's skull. A retired cop once told me, "Flat Sap for the face, blackjack for everything else EXCEPT the face.

    I've spoken with a lot of old-school police officers. They all sing praises about the sap (or any impact weapon). Most of them would rather have a sap (or similar) than an expandable baton, blade, taser, pepper spray, tac flashlight, or stun gun. They all said it was the most reliable non-lethal weapon for "adjusting attitudes" or just putting someone to sleep.

    • @mxq88
      @mxq88 7 лет назад +6

      the problem with putting someone to sleep is it can lead to life long mental issues/brain trauma. think of the amount of civil lawsuits police would end up with these days from victims who received serious brain injuries at the hands of police. back in those days people didn't realise just how much damage the brain was receiving when a person was knocked out. for that very reason these days police are trained to avoid the head unless as an absolute last resort..

    Unlike the purpose built sap, The padlock on the bandanna is really likely to cause some permanent lasting damage. The SAP actually has the leather to spread out the impact and it doesn’t have any sharp edges. When you hit somebody with that padlock it’s probably going to leave a huge gash in their head and bloods going to go everywhere.

    As for that smiley (lock with bandana) be extremely careful with which lock you use, as it is EXTREMELY effective at putting someone down. I would say use a combination lock, because that padlock is very weighty and generates a lot of force. It can and will fracture someones skull or worse. If you must use it, I recommend aiming only at stuff below the neck (ribs, clavicle). Stay safe, stay legal! \m/

    I would just focus on nerve bundles and sensitive areas to avoid death or permanent injury and the whole legality issue. Blackjack to the knee, groin, ribs, hell any joint or large muscle group would likely cause a would be attacker to give up pretty quickly. If not we’ll then the escalation of force is needed to stop the attacker and you have a legal standing now instead of a giant hole in his head and no other external injuries to prove you tried to de-escalate the situation with non lethal force.

    "Spray the guy and hit the guy?" Have you ever actually deployed pepper spray before? You DO NOT want move forward into your target's space (as you would need to do to follow up with the sap strike) immediately after spraying them.
    Why? Because you'd be advancing into a cloud of pepper spray. You won't get as much of it as the other guy, but it will get your eyes and mess with you too.
    You'll want to give a couple seconds for the aerosolized pepper spray to disperse before moving into the area you sprayed.
    If you have pepper spray, then just spray them and run away instead of trying to sap them.
    And if you're in some location where you can't retreat (like in your own home), then you're better off push kicking them than leaning into them with a punch or a strike only to get a face full of your own pepper spray.
    Cops blind themselves with pepper spray all the time because they go in too soon after spraying.
    Heck, even if you don't move forward, if there's just a bit of wind blowing in your direction, the spray can blow back on you. So you should always be backing away while spraying. Not loving forward.

    • @UrbanSurvivalcraft
      @UrbanSurvivalcraft  7 лет назад +3

      They are a force multipliers for sure. The physics behind it suggest you will hit dramatically harder than with your fist. We generally advise our students that anytime you strike the head, neck or spine it should be considered lethal force. So basically if you aren't justified in possibly killing them use a lesser form of force. We like carotid restraints but those are controversial too. size/weight.
    Other highly effective targets are elbows, knees, shins, hands, collar bones, and brainstem.
    A simple technique could be w/sap in right hand sidestep a left jab to the outside,
    grab the wrist while stepping with your left & pull him forward while turning in to face his back,
    strike the elbow,
    As you finish turning into face his back a comitted side arm swing into where his skull meets his neck, then just keep walking

      if you slide a key ring under the pocket clip of that ti light all you have to do is get you pinky in the ring, give a short pull and as the handle comes out wrap your palm around it and push the exposed hilt wedge into the corner of your pocket as it is meant to function like the Emerson wave stud (not as well as it does but it does work) and the ring makes immensely easier & faster- I could have it out and deployed far faster then my friend could get his switch blade out and it's legal

    Closest thing to a "Legal" sap and very effective would be a homemade "Manriki" chain. Put a padlock at each end of a dog choke chain. Very collapseable so it would be somewhat comfortable to carry in your pocket. Even the chain alone would be effective. They come in a few different sizes on Amazon.

    • @UrbanSurvivalcraft

    In south central Kentucky of the 40's and 50's where there is only town or there's country and urban and suburban was not in the vernacular my grandfather was a farmer, deacon and constable. A certain man was known to carry a kitchen knife at the times when he decided to get a snootful, that is, when he was drunk. My grandfather got the call that this man was drunk and bellicose in a certain small part of a small town. He got in his big International farm truck and sought him out. Upon finding him my grandfather announced that he was here to give him a ride home or to jail and the choice was to be determined by the the response. As the the man made choice and his hand went toward his back pocket he was flicked by a slap in the forehead. He was rolled into the back of the truck and trussed by hand and foot to the cattle racks before delivery to the city jail where he eventually regained consciousness and his senses to find a goose egg over his left eye. My grandfather only swatted him as if to swat a fly, swiftly but not nearly as hard as possible.
    I wish some study would reveal the energy needed to produce a knockout with a strike such as that as well as a slap to the jaw, the base of the neck and the noggin proper. Turned on edge, I'm told, a hard strike to a muscle with a slapjack will frog it so badly that an arm or leg becomes of little use. I think a forearm strike might render that arm of little use for more than a minute. The true danger of a slap or jack is that they can easily break bones and teeth and cause permanent brain damage.

    This impact weapon could certainly prove useful in certain situations if you know how to carry and use it, but the sap isn't as popular as it used to be. In fact, it is rearly used anymore. As he said, "if" you can use it as demonstrated, it could be better than a knife or other weapon to stop an attack. However, I know very little about the use of a sap, only heard about it a short time ago and it may conflict with other self defense strategies, such as distance is your friend and you must create it quickly. When you strike with the sap, you may expose certain parts of your body to counter-attack to someone with quick reflexes or self defense training. I suspect training makes the difference.

  • @robdeskrd
    @robdeskrd 3 года назад +2

    Yeah if you are carrying a knife for self defense be realistic, the knife the presenter is holding in the video is about the size of paring knife or steak knife, yes it is of course a real knife but before firearms displaced melee weapons people from many disparate cultures had come to the same consensus on the rough minimum size for blade weapons from
    the gladius to the seaxs to dirks to wakisashis to licasapunni to kukri to kriss to navaja to the Bowie and even up to WWII issue bayonets-
    The long-knife/short-sword were all considerably longer than that pocket knife and that is why I carry a Cold Steel Espada XL as my offensive blade.

    We were issued Boston Leather slappers when I started as a metro patrol division officer for 38 years. I went for the jaw to break it first, then the cranium. I would use the military riot spray , instead of the issued tear gas , or bear spray. I liked the PR-24 side handle baton, however the contact will run or back up, but with the slapper, in 38 years they never saw it coming.😂

    Incredibly true that a knife takes time. I've had to use a knife for self defense and it was a sobering reality of how long it can take. The person is still able to fight even after being stabbed, and that's providing you stabbed them the full length of the blade, most of the time or at least the first time you need to use one in a combat situation it's alot different. And that's even if you get the blade out if your pocket and open if it's a knife on a Swiss Army knife. You have seconds to do it, literally seconds. It's cool to see these sap weapons

      ***** Just reread it you're right! I deleted previous comment to not confuse the issue. Thank you for pointing it out. The way I read chapter 790 of the FL statutes we are allowed to carry black jacks and similar items when we have a concealed weapons permit as discussed in 790.6 and 790.01. The prohibition is for the manufacture and sale of slung shots etc. I've gotten several legal opinions to confirm this and am pretty confident this is correct.

    The problem with knocking a person out is the SECOND impact that could kill him - when his head hits the concrete sidewalk. Good luck with a jury if you do that. But, I just read on another forum about a similar technique to what you described. This fellow used pepper spray to stun an attacker and then beat the crap out of his knees and legs with an ASP collapsible baton. If an attacker can't chase you then he can't hurt you. And, I would think most juries would look kindly on the fact that you used non-lethal force. Gotta protect our attackers even though they are rabid animals preying on the innocent. Don't ya love Liberal Utopia?
