I love these ads. Yes, they were alluring, but that's because Brooke Shields was so breathtakingly beautiful that we the viewers couldn't help looking and looking and looking. And, yes, she was flirtatious and sexy, but neither obscene nor vulgar. That she didn't have a problem with doing the ads then and carries no shame for them in retrospect is nothing to criticize her for. Brooke Shields was a gorgeous teen, and whatever you make of that, she has become a part of our pop culture. Better still is that through the years, she has matured into an emotionally healthy family woman, free of the scandal of drug addiction that often meets child stars. So I don't understand why the bashing. Besides, Brooke Shields would not have been the first underaged female to be made up to act as a woman. Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Twiggy, Milla Jovovich ... these are some famous beauties who were not yet 18 when they started to captivate men (and the rest of the world).

These are about the most cheesiest commercials ever made! I'm embarrassed for her! And for a little history lesson, these jeans were not worn by teenagers at the time, for the most part, they were for "old" people, like women in their 30's and 40's. I only knew moms who wore these. Kids never did, they had an old, boring image.
But after she wore them, it opened a brand new market.

The woman is 47 yrs old she's not going to look exactly like she did when she was a teenager or even in her 20s. And for the record I think she's still very beautiful.
