    I know its a weird request, but you should do a small video on the jacking points used for the 9-3 and or where it is safe to jack the car up from and put on axle stands

      That's a great idea actually. I always assumed people already know the basics, but that's not necessarily true, especially if people are new to the Saab. The 'basics' are also the gateway to more complex stuff. It may be a few weeks as I've a few videos "in the can". 🤘🤘

      Oddly enough, the 93 has the weirdest jacking points I've seen.
      The plastic jack stand points are inconvenient too. Not a fan personally

    Cyd, where do you put the axle stands? I have not been able to find where to put them and had to compromise a bit today (tops off the axle stands so they would fit in the wee plastic rectangles on the sill jacking points), but I don't want to be doing that again!
    Great video by the way (they all are). I have changed drop links on my Nissan before, but your tip of using the trolley jack to raise the wrench saved be a lot of time and effort. Massive thanks!

      That is awesome! Got any photos you can send me? I've just had a leak from the PAS output union, So there'll be a video about all the external seals on the pump soon. Is it an O ring? and is it on the pump or the end of the cam?

      @@CycloneCyd hiya m8 no didn't take photos as had to get the job done quickly as we have a newborn baby and misses needed my support. But yes its the cam side been leaking a while from previous owner by the look of the it. But i bought the power steering pump gaskets from neo brothers 1 large and one small. The fluid should be green but where the seal had failed it had let engine oil in to the power steering pump system making it look like a reddish colour, but new seal fiited no more leaks just need to do a fluid change just to get any old contaminated fluid out of system and replacing with new fluid. Yes the small O ring had failed 👍

    • @CycloneCyd

      Yes, but they are near impossible to get at without lowering the rear of the subframe a couple of inches

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing, but that's horrific! My Aero has lasted almost 5 years on heavy duty links, about 50,000 miles or so. Even then, I only had to replace one side (though I've done both).

  • @carledwards2293
    @carledwards2293 2 года назад +1

    I've got a Saab 2008 tid vector...I've been told it needs a new anti roll bars.. been quoted 360 pounds...do anti roll bars fail...or is it likely it's just what you've just replaced??

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  2 года назад +1

      It won't be the bars themselves, but the mounting bushes and/or the drop links. If you're referring to front roll bars, then the rear of the subframe needs to be dropped a few inches for access. Not so easy DIY, but easy peasy for a garage on a ramp. 360 quid sounds expensive.

    So I think I’m having this on my 2008 saaab 9-3 sportscombi. When I drive around especially when hitting bumps or jostling the car I hear a wobble type of knocking in the front of my car it’s definitely not my engine and I don’t believe it’s my springs, do you think it’s this ? What would be something other symptoms to look out for ?

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  4 года назад +1

      Knocking noises can be very tricky to track down. From the description I'd suggest it's more likely to be inner track rod joint (video coming soon) or wishbone ball joint ruclips.net/video/lyvcAPyZv60/видео.html. Top mounts can knock too (video coming soon on how to make heavy duty version). What you really need is one of these bit.ly/elec_scope_6ch but they are pricey for the DIYer. See if you can hire one.

    I really appreciate these vids man, appreciation from the USA. I have a question. My Saab has a cracked block, and when I rev it around 2.25 RPM it makes a rubbing sound. I'm certain it's a dry spot in the engine because the oil always comes out darker than it should, but not sure where the spot is.. The crack is right where the engine mount under the airbox is, on the front most bolt. It leaks, but I sealed it recently.
    Im hoping it wears out and resolves itself. Maybe you have an idea of what may be rubbing?

    • @CycloneCyd
      @CycloneCyd  4 года назад +2

      can you send me a photo of this by email? email in about scection, scroll down). Also, can you record the sound (use your phone's voice recorder or video) and send that too (or transfer using your Google Drive and the share feature)
      In my head I'm asking myself if that crack is in the block or the timing casing.
      Even after only 5k the oil comes out of my B207r as black as the ace of spades!! And I flush with each change too.

      @@captainsweeney5964 Very odd, wonder how that cracked?
      To me that noise sounds exactly like a loose heat shield. The centre and back box ones are the worst - the aluminium around the fixing points sacrificially corrodes and they come loose. You'll need large penny washers to fix.
