      I'll say it, don't blame the mechanics/technicians. The non crooks of us are just here to fix the stuff that needs it and make a living. Blame the people who are truly at fault, the government that only sees one way to skin a cat. I don't think air pollution is good, but the way they fix it isn't the only way, and probably not the most effective.

    • @davidelliott5843
      @davidelliott5843 Год назад

      Government tells manufacturers to fix the pollution. Manufacturers say how do we get away with being as cheap as possible. But they only ever but off-the-shelf parts. That’s why we have engine clogging EGR and urea injection. The soot filter cleans up after the EGR.
      James Dyson developed a cyclone filter. Nobody was interested. Probably because it’s not made by the usual shysters.

      Shop pays for those machines. And it’s not that much of a struggle once you’ve done a lot of them, you can tell by the sensor holes were they line up, for instance the temp sensors will be in line with each other and the differential pressure sensors will be in line with each other.

    These stupid things put my dad out of business his 2000 freightliner FLD ran like a top 1.8 million miles on the truck 400,000 on a new Detroit series 60 crate engine. Forced to upgrade to a dpf truck so he got a 2009 peterbilt and it only lasted about 4 years before the engine blew up, spent 35,000 on an in frame rebuild and that only lasted about a year. Couldn’t afford to rebuild it again so he sold it and his trailer and started driving a company truck.
