    Thanks. My doctor has stopped doing the 24 monitoring system, only the twice daily monitor for a week. I was 169/100 in the surgery and only a little lower when I self monitored twice daily. I'm in my 50s, exercise most days (cycle to work via the riverside) and do free weights) am not overweight, eat healthily, avoid salty foods, limit my carbs and only unrefined pastas/rice, gave up caffeine months ago, never smoke or drink and have a good low- responsibility p/t job and relaxing hobbies which make me very happy. So it seems medication may now be my only option🤨. I'm surprised you didn't mention alcohol or salt as other bad things to cut out? I have an 3.5% increased risk of having a heart attack in the near future. When i asked for a false addition of smoking be put into the computer calculation, the increased risk was only 6%. Hey ho.

    How do you know when High BP is significant enough to go to ER. My GP has me on Carvedilol and Hydrochlorothiazide. BP goes to 205-220/100-115 daily. Wearing me out and feel lethargic.

    This video was very helpful to me, especially the idea of using small doses of several types of medication. My family is prone to high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes -- I'm the only exception, with low-normal bp and a slow heart rate around 50 beats/minute. The lifestyle difference between me and the rest of my family is that I refuse to eat eggs. In fact, I'm convinced that high egg consumption is directly responsible for the high rate of heart attacks and strokes in America. Of course I'm judging only from personal experience and I could be wrong.

    Can you explain why when I go to the doctor it goes up, I’ve always had like 125/70 then few years ago was 130/80, and I see 140/90 when I go to the doctor I am 49, the lower was when I was 20 years old. I am in menopause and have bad anxiety and health anxiety. I’ve had high readings when I go to the doctor. My dad had me relax at home and it was 123/70

  • @larry71831
    @larry71831 7 лет назад +3

    Straight to the point , good video. I have one question to share with you. It is obvious for instance that the difference between 120.80 .... systolic/ diastolic is 40 points.... what is the danger if the difference in these figures go above a difference of 40. Or lower than 40 points. There is very little data.... I have had readings as low as 99/60 when on my meds and felt no difference. Your view point on this would be helpful.......thx Larry

    Thanks for this detailed explanation. I've been dealing with the high blood pressure for 16 years or so now. As you suggest, I don't think that the high BP started 16 years ago. I have always been extremely fit and active and my occupation was very physical. After I left that occupation, my weight began to rise steadily. It was found that I had sleep apnea, and I use a CPAP machine now. That has helped. I've retired 8 years ago, so the major source of the stressors in my life are gone. That all has improved my life and health, but not necessarily the BP. Still on the meds for that. I always felt that my treatments for that were based off of guesses on what is going on within me. The explanations from my doctors were vague at best. It seems that there is a lack of understanding to some degree on the topic. I am glad that the problem has been identified and steps have been taken that should mitigate any damage.

And some heart pain. (Treadmill EKG says my heart is like athlete )By 4pm it's back to 115/73. How do these interact and why. I may have a death wish.

      Had the same issue. I find that reading and concentrating on some type of instruction manual while taking my BP helps distract me. I also take my pulse before I take BP and then compare it to the number on the BP monitor to see how much of the heart rate increase is from just taking the BP. It doesn’t tell me how much the BP increase might be from taking the BP but it does seem to tell me if anxiety went up when taking BP.

    Hi dr sanjay i hv a question. I hd recently gone to see a naturapath doc i.e specializing in holistic meds n did a check up using the quantum resonance magnetic analyzer. The reading tells me that my vascular resistance and elasticity levels are below average (i.e according to the doc my vascular walls are thick) and my myocardial blood demand and blood perfusion volume is lower than average. She said this means that blood is not flowing well throughout the body esp to the brains hence the dizzy/fatigue-ish spells i have been experiencing. my q is does this mean also mean that there could be blockages in the heart or arterial walls. Are these readings a good indication of a creeping heart disease? I am 39yrs of age with no previous heart issues and neither am i diabetic.

But I need an advice please, usually smokers have low stamina but I've started running right now, I feel a little pain in my heart while my BP goes up and get relax as soon as it drops down. Do you think I should seriously consider visiting a Cardiologist or monitor it for a few days, the reason why I'm asking is I've had the same problem a couple of years back when I started jogging, but it got disappeared in a month or so. I have Hashimoto's and my blood pressure goes high if I don't have the right amount of thyroid replacement hormones (too much or too little). So of course they gave me calcium channel blocker, beta blocker, and diuretics instead of just fixing my hormones. I was scared to change lanes because I would get dizzy checking my blind spot with all those meds.

    Some Doctors' enthusiasm is squashed by the principles they have to work with too. They have rules and regulations, allotted time, a "quota" of patients and time constraints pushed beyond the limit by patients. I think most of them do a great job.

    Thank you for saying that... I get a bit light headed when that top number goes below 120. I have NEVER had a doctor suggest a 24 hour blood pressure monitoring before putting me on meds.
    I’m currently taking readings am and pm for the last couple of months to take back to my cardiologist.

    Dr....could you please make a video on low blood pressure as well and how it affects the heart? Not many Drs touch on this topic. Many thanks..🙏🏻

    What do you mean 24 hours monitoring? Like every hour measure it??
