I got back from the trail yesterday. I would agree that devils staircase is highly exaggerated and by no means the hardest part of the trail. Connic hill is harder but the rocky inversnaid to inverernan part defiantly hardest. One thing that wasn't exaggerated was the midges and ticks. I hike with my dog and he collected at least a dozen ticks throughout the journey. The midges are relentless (Avon skin so soft defiantly a good repellent) but a midge net is essential. The thing i found hard about the trail was the constant walking on rock. This is a rock path from start to finish and you will need a good pair of hiking boots. Don't try to do this in anything flimsy your feet will be in bits. Another tip i would give for anyone hiking with a dog is doggie backpacks - Don't use them, the rocky terrain will be a strain on your dogs pads and the extra weight makes it worse. I ended up carrying my dogs pack after the first 2 days.

I climbed Conich hill yesterday (5th June) from Balmaha car park. Mum and dad came up and a lot of people from our church. I live in Port Glasgow and so I’m not to far from the west highland way. So it’s funny coincidence your video should be posted on that very day. I’m originally from Norwich Norfolk and have lived up here for about 10 years all together. Nice to hear a familiar accent. Well chuffed mate 😉☺️

His Becky, I really enjoyed following you on that trip. I’m wondering where you are heading next. You know I haven’t got over you cooking that apple pie. When I finally head out on my cycling trip, well my cooking skills on a single gas burner are limited, I tend to head for the pub or a cafe for eats. I will try those meals you mentioned but if your stuck for something to film you could always do a simple dish for the lone cyclist.

Camped in Ireland 13 years ago and was quoted 25 euros for the night, at one place and the only place to be fair. Laughed and said no thanks, I'll try my luck. Don't remember exactly what happened but I didn't pay 25 of any money to pitch for the night. You can pay £29 for a night at a Premier Inn is how I look at it, granted the views and placement aren't as good/handy. The bathroom, bed and tv on the other hand trump that. Wildcamping is the way, hands down. No complaints at all when I do that. Don't mean to moan so much and thanks for the upload

You say the dehydrated food pack are nice and light but seeing as you have to carry water (and you said water was hard to come by in many places) so perhaps not so light afterall. Plus of course very expensive. I prefer to open tinned food at home, place that in zip bags then heat in a pot as required. Good video though with many great tips.. Well done
