- Hello!!! In this video I tried to make a unique item from a wrench based on the theme of the legendary Mario Bros. Using a simple technique of layered metal etching, I tried to create the smallest design I could make. What do you think of my idea?
Hi all. This time I want to make a unique item on the theme of my favorite game from childhood, Mario Bros. To create this idea, I decided to take a regular wrench from the store. The most difficult thing in this work is a very small drawing. The multi-layer pattern on the metal adds exclusivity to the wrench. I wonder how much such a unique item could cost? How do you like my work?
Before I started implementing my idea, I needed to sand the wrench with sandpaper. Without thinking twice, I chose the theme for drawing Mario Bros., my favorite characters from a computer game. After drawing a design on the wrench, I began multilayer electrochemical etching on the metal. Step by step, layer by layer, my smallest drawing began to take on the appearance I had hoped for. When I finished etching, I decided to give the drawing some visual volume by blackening the metal. Finally, I decided to protect this unique piece from rust using varnish. I was pleased with the result of this work and I hope you liked it too.

You are both correct - my chemo-brain got the two techniques confused. Indeed he did etching here. That said, I love both techniques. Old school engraving is spectacular, and some beautiful work is done such as the etching here.

Absolutely beautiful!! You could go one step further; Cut a length of PVC pipe and paint it green to look like a Super Mario portal tunnel. You could place the pipe on the bench, beneath the spot where your wrench currently hangs. Even cut a whole in the table to give the illusion the tunnel goes straight through. That’s what I would do. Keep up the good work!! 😀👍

Put this on a set of decent name brand wrenches and have the ultimate gift for a mechanic- guys that turn wrenches for a living would really appreciate this. if I had the money for that kind of luxury I'd be all over it.

Art is subjective think of it what you will that's the beautiful part. I think this work is fantastic. What might some like that cost...I have a 7/16 / 3/8 combination box wrench. My daughter gave me for father's day when she was 4. She's now almost 30. Not sure what I'd have out on it, but I'd like her to have it after my time comes. She's done so much...has three degrees and working on her fourth . Anyway,some to the effect of,her working hard to get her education ect. I might have more ideas..but they don't come to me just now. Go figure ..when you think of something,it slips right by...lol. I’ve been using tattoo transfer paper on my projects like this what kind of transfer supplies are you using?
Mainly lavsan paper, I transfer the outline and then I correct them with my hands...
