Either that, or they should have to pass a test made by John McCarthy with 100% correctness and it should be a different test for reffing/judges. I feel a judge should have to understand technique and levels of control over another person. Judges are incompetent too often.
Not ref but judge . He wouldn’t be able to effectively ref a fight while also trying to have entertaining commentating. I really do think Joe should be a judge, he would be really good at it considering he knows so much about MMA.

Don’t you understand that Conor was doing these things on purpose just to get the fight standing again? It’s not incompetent if disqualifying him is completely unnecessary. Dean knows it’s a fucking title fight, and easily one of the biggest MMA fights of all time, he’s not gonna award Khabib an easy disqualification when he’s already on top, and fucking winning rounds.

Sounds like a good idea but I'm sure the commission would say it's unsafe or some bullshit (against all common sense of course) so they can still have crooked judges manipulating the sport.
Ye but inside leg kicks are hard to throw without hitting the nuts I know you shouldn’t hit the nuts but if it happens accidentally the guy who threw it shouldn’t brake their foot
@@J-a-k-e577 If it happens accidentally I still feel like the guy getting his fucking nuts hit is a MUCH worse injury than some bad bruising of a shin... This is literally common sense, your shin is tougher than your balls. But I agree with what Joe says about the extra leverage it creates in armbars (and it could cause injury to the head in a triangle choke), it gives the other fighter less time to tap before bones break.
The call was actually fine, even Marshawn Lynch could easily get stopped there. Butler jumped the play early because the pats have good spys and knew what play was being called.
I've always said that the judges have to be scrutinized more also and they should face penalties. sometimes there will be one judge who is completely opposite from the other judges. that person has to be taken aside post-event, and they need to explain all their scores and how they saw a fight the way they did. it shows they either have no clue what they are judging, or, they have been paid of to try to influence the outcome.
I have a legitimate question for the comment section. Do you guys, (who know, are fans, and do martial arts), consider that a few big punches are worth more than a lot of small punches, or the other way round? Because if we take the Edgar vs Aldo fight, or Barboza vs Pearson, I personally considered that Edgar and Pearson won the fights, because they kept moving, and scoring punches during the entire fight. But the wins were given to Aldo and Barboza, for just sticking to the center of a ring, and scoring maybe one or two big punches every round. So is octagon control, for the guy who took the center and glued himself there, or is it the guy who uses the entire ring for his battle? Is damage dealt, for the guy who layed down a couple of big punches, or the guy who layed down 30 small punches? Again, real question I'm asking, not trying to be a smart ass or salty or anything.
Yeah I understand the confusion but octagon control is more of who’s controlling the grappling aspect of the fight. Fight aggression is put into factor when they’re both standing up. Rabbit punches lack any aggression. Haymakers are the complete opposite and a couple of those can “steal” a round from the other fighter. And it does give the feeling that the person is controlling the fight because it gives the feel that the other fighter is “running” from the fight. Also well timed counters are scored higher than set combinations but idk why is that
I’ll put it this way: Would you prefer to get jabbed in the face a hundred times by someone with ok power, Or Mike Tyson to hit you in the face, in his prime, no gloves, as hard as he could ONCE. One of them would leave you with a nasty bruise, maybe break some bones in ur face, the other could kill you, or at least give brain damage. I know which one I’d choose.
I personally think "Big" John McCarthy is about the only MMA ref worth a shit and not dangerous for the fighters. Those refs have the fighters' lives in their hands. JMO Peace.
The problem is, a lot of those people who are knowledgable about are not willing to spend their saturdays judging and getting paid low wages to be a judge.
Here is some food for thought. what if they had the commentator as a ref?!?! Just imagine joe Rogan in there with the fighters yelling "he's got him in an arm bar!!" but is also trained enough to stop the fight. and also has a mic headset
I've seen judges looking at their phone, and half asleep. Sometimes you hear judges decisions and you think to yourself what fight were they watching. Someone could kick the shit out of their opponent for 5 rounds, then you hear one of the judges has given 5 rounds to the other person. It makes me so mad, could you imagine being them?
Stop the fight when the arm breaks.... i dont care how tough the fighter thinks he is, but it's this fine line that draws the line between sport and brutality that is just not entertaining.... and no matter how tough the guy is and wants to "keep fighting" hes not thinking right and pumped up with natural drugs aka adrenaline...
guys break their hand all the time in fight games do we stop if a guy has a cracked fist?? is it really that different from broke arm? and how often does a fighter finish a full fight with a broke arm anyway ??
What about the HORRIBLE MMA Refs who let guys who are already knocked out off of one punch get pummeled in the face for 10 extra punches? Then proceed to tell the fighter who was losing that they had to finish to get the win and tell the fighter that was up on the score cards that if they tried to stall their way to a win they would be disqualified. I will tell you myself and every opponent that I fought came out and fought as hard as we could. The third round of every one of my fights was turned up a notch. Because both of us had to win. And this was amateur, not only were we not getting paid a damn thing, there was an entry fee that we all had to pay.
