    ⚠️ FOR PEOPLE who wonder what the anime is called: it's LAST EXILE. It's written all over the description, in the video, and in the video title.
    ⚠ FOR PEOPLE who wonder why the battle is unfolding that way:
    There's a faction called the Guild, which acts as the "referee" in each battle between Anatoray (green ships) and Disith (white ships). The Guild imposes a strict way of doing battle, including useless battlelines, small arm fire before artillery exchange, only firing at certain times, etc. This is why in the first third of the video, sometimes enemy ships do not fire at each other despite being next to each other.
    In the second part of this battle, Disith (the white ships) actually break the rules and attack with a second fleet from above, against "regulation" imposed by the Guild, forcing the green ships into a retreat. The Guild doesn't intervene, because it has an agenda of its own. This is when all guns start blazing like hell, as no side feels constraint by any regulation anymore.
    The ships are designed the way they are because the Anatoray military knows that Disith ships will always come from above, so Anatoray turrets are placed on top of the ships, and conversely, Disith ships have their turrets installed beneath their hull.

    This anime's story goes like this : Earth was rekt'd some thousand years ago and humans fled using interstellar ships called "Exiles" (there are still humans that stayed on the Earth and they harbored resentment towards the refugees when the said refugees returned, basically the plot of Last Exile : Fam, the Silver Wing)... These "Exiles" somewhat created another Earth and in this anime, that world was called Prester, which is shaped like an hourglass... The northern part of this so-called new world was called Disith (Greek for sunset iirc) and the southern part was called Anatoray (Greek for sunrise iirc) with the thin median in the middle is a turbulent wind stream called Grand Stream (which hides this world's Exile and the location of the main Guild ship, an arbitrary faction)... Now, since their Exile was under some sort of hibernation, it cannot make the world's weather system stable, hence, Disith experiences perpetual snowstorm and Anatoray desertification (still a livable one though)... This scenario explains the ship designs :
    Reparation-class ships (Disith ships / White ships as this comment section calls it) : This ships were shaped as an hourglass to cross the Grand Stream from above, aerodynamics go bbbrrrrttttt so let us not question that... In line with that, their turrets are situated on the underside of the ships...
    Claiomh-Solais class / Anatoray ships / Green ships as the comment section calls it : the exact opposite of the Reparation-class ships... They have their turrets on the upper side and are not "streamlined" because they were not crossing the Grand Stream to invade Disith territories...
    The Armillary Sphere-looking ship / Guild Prescence ship : like the name implies, it is the ship of the Guild that "oversees" the battle as an arbiter, though the Guild's leader, Maestro Delphine, have something in mind other than upholding fairness... Btw, both Disith and Anatoray ships use the Guild-provided Claudia units, some sort of anti-gravity engine with a Guild engineer inside... If one of the factions committed something that doesn't follow Guild regulations, their Claudia units will be "recalled" (ie literally force-eject itself from the ship), effectively sinking the ship in which it was situated...
    Silvana (the Black ship as everyone calls it) : is an experimental Anatoray ship fitted with the thickest plot armor-- I mean armor plating, gunpowder cannons (later added though), Vanship squadrons (I freakin' love Tatiana and Alister) and epicness...
    Basically, the Third Battle of Minagith is just Disith trying to get a territory because their homeland isn't livable anymore... Boy, I did tear up a bit when Disith tubular-shaped ships ladden with civilians got destroyed before taking off........

      Ανατολή/Δύση (Anatoli/Disi) in Greek is sunrise and sunset, but also east and west. The Japanese can't spell "L" so they make it "R" instead. It is common to foreign words in Japanese if i remember well.

      If I remember correctly, Disith's territory going frozen is a manipulation from Delphine : she jeopardized the stream between the two territories, rendering Anatoray arid and Disith cold using the weather control and the Great Stream of their Prester. The Guild is present on all Presters and on Earth, it's a far more advanced civilization tasked to take care of (normally) those said Presters..... Also it's not very clear if these pocket worlds are in the solar system or not, but I think they are, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense to create artificial worlds as it would be """simpler""" to travel to stars that have terraformable worlds.... But lets say a civilization able to build Presters and not able to repair Earth is not very credible.

    • @TheNapster153
      @TheNapster153 3 месяца назад

      @@CurrypkatRamonlab It could very well be likely the temptation of control overceded the desire to survive. The weather control tech could've been apart of a much larger terraform tech tree that got stopped or simply sidelined at some point when the Guild figure out they could actually dominate humanity through it.

    "From the Depths" game can recreate this madness of a fight.
    Heavy airships are the staple design aesthetic for the Gray Talons faction inside the game. From heavy close in flying warship to a long range sharp shooting warship. Everything is fully armored and would take a heavy amount of beating before going down.
    Ship building in the game has a steep learning curve especially if you are planning to recreate the airships. The PID is your bestfriend in 3D maneuvers. Engine design, armor layout, or gun emplacements would take a long time to get to. 500hrs in game is just entry level.
    The guns have a different flavor of building too. From slow ass firing to rapid firing, needle guns or high caliber, low velocity or lazer like velocity, explosive or piercing, you decide! Lasers are also an option as well as missiles for the "macross missile masaacre" trope.

      If I remember correctly it is revealed in the final that the entire series takes place in a giant space station shaped like a spinning hour-glass, and the two nations that are fighting are situated on opposite ends. I believe the reason the white fleet is attacking is that the environmental control machinery on their end is breaking down and causing the entire side to slowly freeze, so they are desperately trying to forcibly migrate to the other side where things are still mostly OK.

    This looks really cool, though I have no idea what's happening.
    The airships seem to be built in strangely complimentary fashion. The green one mount most of their weapons up top, while the white ones mount their weapons on the underside. I can't say as there's any problem with it, though. But I guess if I was designing an airship and I had to choose, I'd go with the green ships' design. Seems the white ships have a lot to lose if they can't maintain the high ground.

    • @Carrack090
      @Carrack090 2 года назад +82

      They are built because the white ships, to arrive, must decend from the sky, so they tactically were designed around firing downward upon the Anatoray ships. (the ones in green) As a result, the anatoray ships are mostly top mounted guns to counter this, and generally are much heavyer armored and armed.

    • @koopanique

      It is exactly as Carrack090 said. Anatoray (the green ships) know that Disith (the white ships) always arrive from above, because of the weird way this world is set up, so they design their ships with guns mounted on top

      Just moving away from the fact where there is up and down.
      Until 01:30, both fleets fight according to specific rules, reminiscent of the linear battle tactics of sailing battleships.
      From 1:40 the rules are violated by the White side and they put the second fleet into action, but it's not just the effect of surprise.
      The green ships are more of a Pre-dreadnought battleship design, while the white ones are more like a dreadnought type battleship. White guns have more long-range guns of larger caliber, the total number of guns may be less than on Green ships, but they are grouped into four turrets each with three main caliber guns.
      At 1:10 we see that this does not give White an advantage while ships are forced to line up, White ships can only use 2 turrets on one side.
      At 3:17, on the contrary, there is another characteristic moment, due to the fact that the Green ships are not in the battle line, they can use only one bow turret, while the Whites use all their firepower, a volley from each of the four turrets is clearly visible from each ship. To be effective, the Greens need to reorganize, since the guns of their ships are on board, i.e. line up, but it remains in question whether the range of their guns will be enough. And the Greens physically do not have time to do this.
      That is, once again, it's not only an ambush, but a more advanced design of the White ships. The "Guild" is watching everything from above. From the perspective of their superior technology, it must be very amusing and interesting for them to see how the stages of shipbuilding they know and go through are repeated in the design of the faction airships.
      The creator of this anime is very passionate about the history of aviation and shipbuilding, being in post-war Japan, the memory of the huge leap that the Japanese Empire made in creating its navy according to the Western model was very strong.

    First time seeing this and love seeing sky battles above the clouds the great white sea.
    As far I can tell based on the designs.
    Green Airship: built for broadside battles due to how the guns are placed at the top in two roads and a single gun at the front. The cannons appears to have 50° degrees to 70° degrees of arc fire letting them hit targets above, but at a distance. Side armor are heavy to tank as much damage, but vulnerable top and underbelly. There are signs of AA guns and hangers for aircraft support. Uses large thrusters in the rear underbelly for speed and altitude, but given how slow it is it may not provide higher altitude support due to energy to waight demand.
    White Airship: Built for speed and maneuverability due to a light skeletal design lacking the need of heavy armor and using an hour glass shape as the base. Heavy rotating guns are at rear & front taking up the bottom half as smaller guns & AA are used in the Skeletal frame. Designed for high altitude ambushes as an counter for the green ships, but depends on large numbers for proper kills.
    Black Airship: It's a submarine and its awesome.
    Final note: Cool battle and looking forward to watch the anime for fighter action.

      Nope... Disith fleets are that way cause they emisphere is on a blizzard cold state, ane even more armored ships might couse them to lost control on the ship, also the storm betweeen both emispheres is also hard to travel, they are invading Anatorai so they need to cross the storm, also, the lack of resources to build or even mantain they citizens lead them to build more ships with less materials like a heavy cover, they build the ships just to fly and shoot, also the lack of meals or a site to come back is the reazon to them to not follow rules, they have no option as chivalry, to them is win or die... that's implicit at the anime...

    • @hypothalapotamus5293
      @hypothalapotamus5293 7 месяцев назад

      It's way wierder than that. You see, the combatants are actually a bunch of primitives who are renting their floaty units from a bunch of alien looking guys called the guild. To prevent damage to the guild units, the guild forces both sides to shoot at each other with muskets (as opposed to machine guns and repeating rifles, which would be a threat to the guild unit security team) until a specified number of people die per ship. Once the quota is met, they can bring out the big guns.
      The guys in the green ships assume that any fight will start from broadside point blank because the alternative is getting your guild unit jettisoned and falling to your death.
      The white ship guys and the guild have other ideas.

    -Greens have more guns and seem to be much better armored but are pretty slow and present a massive target if they show broadside.

      as mentioned already, there's a powerful third faction, who controls the engines of these ships. So they set the rules, that's why ships fight like ships of the line. You can think of them as the Spacing Guild in Dune if you're familiar with it, who provides the space navigators allowing the different factions to travel in space.
      Also not shown here, there's also a sort of line infantry battle that happens while the ships pass each other. A section of a ship will open with a line infantry and will shoot the infantry at the other ship. Won't spoil much, later in the show, these ships would fight like what you would expect them to with their design.

      I don't know why RUclips decided to make this video explode a few days ago, but a lot of people who never saw the show end up seeing this video, and naturally have many questions.
      For the why and the how of airships being able to remain in suspension in the sky, it's explained fully in the anime -- there's a kind of fictional fuel that keeps them in the air (can't remember its name). Inside each ship, there is a "floating unit" controlled by the Guild, a faction that acts as the "referee" in each battle between Anatoray (green ships) and Disith (white ships). When a ship is destroyed, the floating unit goes back to the Guild's main ship (the floating units can be seen rising out of the sinking ships in some shots, like at 1:25). In practice, the Guild can thus decide to sink or control any ship it pleases. The Guild imposes a strict way of doing battle, including useless battlelines, small arm fire before artillery exchange, etc, just for the sake of remaining in power.
      In the second part of this battle, Disith (the white ships) actually break the rules and attack with a second fleet from above, against "regulation" imposed by the Guild, forcing the green ships into a retreat. This is because for various reasons that would be too long to explain, Disith as a country has no choice but pushing into Anatoray's territory.
      In the second half of the anime, Disith and Anatoray unite to fight the Guild. At this point tactics naturally change and Vanships (equivalent of airplanes) are used to great effect.
      EDIT: I hadn't seen someone had already answered

      @hansvonzunichte Год назад +1

      Nope, what a propeller fighter can do against a sea battleship? those ships are heavy armored like a regular sea battleship... it looks fragile between them.. but they are not... those guns are not made with gunpowder... there is no sulfure at that world.. all guns are based on presured steam.. all preasure steam guns are by far more powerfull than gunpowder, not even by the PSI needed by a Gun to shot an objet, also the caliver of the objets and temperature, those objects are cold and solid, so there is not deformation or fragmentation, that anime is a masterpice cuz the writer thought in all of it....
      Remember the anime is based on some premises, A claudia Engine could lift heavy weights against gravity force, the Guild provide the same number of Claudia Engines to both sides, there is no volcanic activity or even all elemets like sulfur at that world, the weight that a claudia engine lifts is similar to a regular battleships, the more weight you put, the bigger or smaller the ship might be, the Sylvana is like a real dreadnought, so its smaller than all other battleships, but is heavy armored and armed.
