Jhin... we are yet to witness such a great champion design ever since his release. His teaser was simple, but very effective. This Seraphine stuff just looks very flashy but devoid of any actual essence.

Actually, at first when league presented Yone, I thought that it would be a shit. However, I played yesterday and it is really a champion made out of love. I am really happy that Riot still doing champions with love, but it is not about Seraphine

The audacity of Seraphine having an Ultimate skin, just for a collaboration instead of the original 4 members is so frustrating. It doesn't even feel an ultimate, more like 3 Legendaries. I'd rather have Legendaries for each K/DA members and only Epic for her.

Also on the lore, although Seraphine's parents were "poor" and from Zaun, and with Piltover famously not wanting the Zaunites to ever come to the surface...she just migrated to Piltover. And although her parents were poor, they bought her a hextech crystal. And then they built her a platform. And then she's famous in both Zaun and Piltover. Where does any of that follow? Never once in her lore did she mention singing, aside from "hearing other peoples' songs. And every issue she had was solved by her "poor" parents who are never given any characterization, even though they are more important to her lore than she is! She's like a completely passive side character in her own lore, outside of the final sentence that just proclaims she's suddenly famous. Like. Come on. At least give us something about the song(s) she sings that simultaneously appeals to both Piltovans and Zaunites. Maybe something about the Zaun guardian spirit/goddess, Janna. A brief snippet to justify her popularity would be all that's needed.
Like her covers, seraphine should’ve at least have her own song like Jinx music video. So that way when she cast her ultimate she can quote her lyrics instead of “OUUUUUOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!””

The problem is not that she's a copy of Sona, it's that she's an upgrade of Sona. Sona suffers from a similar problem of a lot of older champions in that her kit is very subtle and way too dependent on her ult to make an impact. Just because a few abilities are different doesn't make Seraphine unlike a VGU, because her kit seems like a reimagining of Sona into something that is more engaged in the fight. The final nail in the coffin is that her character design, that of an ethereal floating musical woman is so similar.
actually her kit seems more similar to Neeko's than sona's, sona is the better support and has short range while Seraphine is more of a wave clear and poke mage, Seraphine honestly does better playing mid than she does playing support as her Q can accidentally steal your adc's farm.
This, instead of giving Sona a desperately needed rework kit wise. This only seems to make her redundant. It helps that Seraphine's lore is not all that fitting to begin with so it only begs the question more, "Why attach this kit that is basically an improved Sona kit, to a newly designed champion that seems hastily thought out at best. While you could have just, y'know? Given it to Sona, she's right there already in need of an upgrade".
-Doesn't deserve an Ultimate, it should've been 3 separate launch skins -Riot clearly only focused on her KDA lore, and tried to shoehorn her into Runeterra -The voice doesn't match the face, and most of her line deliveries are just... *c r i n g e* -She doesn't even *LOOK* like she's from Piltover/Zaun on her default skin, and instead looks like Star Guardian. So she got a Star Guardian skin for *free.* Personally, I have nothing against duplicate champion kits or themes. Lux/Morgana & Diana/Leona have basically the same kit, Annie & Brand are both pyromancers in the most literal sense, so why NOT have another musician? It's not like music isn't a thing in Runeterra. But the problem was execution. Last year, they said "we have plans to make next year's worlds the biggest yet." in their BTS video of setting up last year's worlds, meaning they already knew they were going to have Seraphine. They only cared about bringing back KDA, cause it was stupid successful. So at most, let's be generous and say a year and a half of prep to get her lore until they started releasing her soundcloud & twitter stuff. They spread themselves too thin! There's no way you can get everything set up that quickly; run feedback tests, record her music, build her model, hold auditions for both her singing voice & in-game voice, create all the art, the VFX, the SFX, bug test, balance test, the 5-set comic series, and the two separate lore without something suffering. Something had to be rushed, and to a lot of fans, that was the voicelines, the in-game model, the design choices for default in general, and the in-game lore. And that last one betrays the core fanbase a lot. [[EDIT: Getting a lot of repeat questions about the Diana/Leona bit, and since no one wants to read all the comments (don't blame you), here we go. Diana & Leona both have dives, both have a survivability ability that does damage for some reason, have passives involving light that need to be proc'd to utilize their kits to the fullest extent, have multiple ways to stick to their opponent, and have an AoE ultimate that keeps multiple targets from running. (And yes, I do know Diana ulti was originally the dive, but I'm talking about now and not release) And if you can't see that it's the same kit just with different focuses on numbers & team role, then I'm sorry but you're in denial. Also I'm *NOT* complaining that it's a bad thing, cause it's like the Yin/Yang thing with each other since launch, and I find that pretty awesome!]]

Too selfish too give kills and far more Rengar-ish passive than Sona and a Corki-ish nerfed 1st. " Her passive works well with allies." Yeah, *for getting her kills that is*. It has not benefits to allies at all compared to Sona's which grant as many debuffs as her buffs. "At least she can double cast." Yeah right, like button mashing wasn't enough for full CDR Sona. I was just about to say. If Sona joined KDA, it’d be to be their pianist because she’s mute. I really think they would have reworked her and given her a KDA skin if she wasn’t mute. They wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble to make this champion. I used to be a Sona OTP and I can definitely say I’m a little frustrated with what Riot has done with this new champ, Seraphine.
I like that lore of using the kind bubbly personality exploiting a whole race of peaceful skarners (it's actually very popstar-esque). Think about how the merchandise of real pop-stars is made by sweatshops then they go on tv giggle laugh and talk about how they care about everyone. Probably not what they meant to go for but it's kinda spot on.
Yeeah! I would love if she turned to be a villain, but on her lore, it never mentions this twisted reality..Im sure they didn't meant to do, and that makes her words funny as hell since she looks more like a psychopath than what they expected it would sound like. Or they could have included things in her lore, that she told her parents that her crystal is talking to her and they deemed her crazy. They could have made her escape an asylum with the crystal. Make her go to Skarner and try to give back the crystal, and then the crystal would decide to help her spread the story of the crystals in order to free them or something. Man there could have been so many possabilities to make her a literall hero for Skarner's race and just give her more depth as a character overall. They could have made her a crazy psycho and experimented with that, or make her a really good character by trying ot help the brackern. So many missed opportunities...
Most hates are about seraphine’s voice and how annoying and stupid it sounds. That’s just a dumb reason, they’re basically hating and harassing a real person now.
We need originality!!! And monsters are usually unique in lol, since all his humans are usually hot generic girls (generalizing, of course) and badass or really cool men. (Its odd to try to put it in a nutshell, cause design things are very complex ^^' so..)

Long rant: Even as a person who really likes Kpop, I probably wouldn't waste my money on getting her. I have been playing League of legends for only about two or three years now, so I might not know much about the development of a champion and the lore as a casual player, but it's so obvious that Seraphine is just a champion that is supposed to be a cash grab by Riot. You can tell that Riot is getting lazier and lazier with the new champions they are releasing. I can understand that it's not easy coming up with new champion designs, lore, personality, and unique champion kits. But to ignore the whole premise of what makes a League of legends champion a champion is just asking for backlash from the community that cares for the champions they play. Not all their newest champions are bad, but Seraphine might be the worst case so far of Riot running out of ideas. Her design is meh in my opinion and her kit just seems like a combination of Sona, Ahri, and Neeko. Her gameplay doesn't really look fun and it just looks like a poorer substitute for Sona mid. If she didnt float on that little hoverboard thingy and actually floated in the air like Zoe or just walked, then I probably wouldn't have disliked her design as much. The way her skin works is just annoying and the skins aren't even that good tbh. I feel bad for the Orin players who have to wait a long time just to get a new skin, while Seraphine is getting a ultimate skin on release. In Conclusion, she is just not that interesting of a champion and if Riot doesn't change anything about her to fit into the lore of League of legends, a lot of people wont find her interesting. Also, people, please stop harassing the singer and voice actress of Seraphine. If you don't like the champion, complain to Riot, not the voice actress or the singer.

I absolutely love everything about her personality, design, skins, kit, and her part in KDA but her lore just felt so rushed and forced. Like you said, so much potential to connect her to other stories and riot failed, hopefully they can fix her lore somehow by tying her in somewhere

If you are playing as Seraphine and get stomped you can just play on the back of the back and just press R during a TF, the range is so absurd. and you will make a lot of difference.

Old graves was the one that got reworked cause he also had a bad thematic dissonance... he was a shotgun wielder who used a grenade launcher instead. Assuming the same happens here (not guarenteed, the argument that she is in a different niche to Sona which might help avoid the issue... her being in the meta won’t immediately push Sona out of the meta and might actually be the opposite... sera Sona bot lane might be a thing) there is no guarentee Sona will be the one getting a rework (though that might not be a bad thing)

Played her and honestly she feels like playing Sona but with more a middlaner focuse than support focused that is pretty much it, theme is same music based, both float, their kits are way to overlapping can't call them same but the similarities are endless they honestly fused sonas w and e into Sera's W they both boost basic attack with casting 3 spells I could go on.... For me honestly Sera came out from someones idea of a rework for Sona.
Which begs the question why they didn't just rework Sona in the first place, love her and her theme but honestly she is really showing her age. Seraphine feels like an attempt to make her obsolete.
You know what would be funny (and probably interesting) is if Serapphine was a hidden villain :P Like keep the lore, have her hear the voices and make her have a connection with Skarner, but rather than inspiring everyone or helping out, she's a secret villain that exploited this. No one knows about the crystal's true origins aside from her and have her evil by having her INTENTIONALLY hide that from everyone and act like nothing is going on. Crazy! Buuuuuuuuuuut.... I've been watching ProGuides for a while now and I'm constantly getting the impression that they're always exclusively on Riot's side on all matters. Does anybody else get this impression? Maybe I'm exaggerating or maybe this is a widely known thing already. The content is always trying to say something like "Yeah, Riot messed up, but that's ok! Keep playing anyway and forget about these mistakes" or helping Riot sell us stuff by saying "I can't wait to try this new skin on". It's hard to believe that they're giving us an unbiased opinion. The content doesn't feel truthful. About Seraphine. To me, it makes no sense for her to move around on a stage instead of just walking around. It feels weird. A champion that we associate with the real world having a floating stage. There are too many champions already. Just fix the buggy client and we'll be happy! Sorry for the long text
It's not too uncommon for a youtube channel that is based around one game to do that. It's because if they complain too much about it, then the players start to leave the game and their channel views go down. They want to keep their views up, so they try to hype up the game to keep people interested.
Yeah, probably, but also, im glad they at least talked about it! Theyre a known channel, and maybe they convince people to come and criticize her and stop praising Sera so much, blindly! Skarner is one of my mains. This showed me that Riot literally does not give a Twitch’s ass about monstrous champions like Skarner and the lore behind them is an afterthought. Its like they decided to say, here your monster who has been taken advantage of for years has someone who can be the catalyst for a horrifying reveal connected to Camille’s family, but naw, we Brackern are ok with being exploited. Combined with their portrayal of Sylas, I see they kinda don’t understand the implications of saying a minority should be fine with being exploited.
Riot than : hey this champion's concept is good but it doesn't fit in meta so let's rework him/her Riot now : hey this champion's concept is good but it doesn't fit in meta so let's take his /her concept and skills and create a new champion
The only thing I don't like about Sera is the Brackern part of her lore. With champions like Camille, Ekko and a few others using hextech crystals made from Skarner's kind, Seraphine was aware that it had a soul, but used it anyway. Doubt that other champions know that they're using a living soul for weapons or in Camille's case to live. Even the crystals are used for chests when players are opening them for loot. I feel like Riot hates Brackern.
A simple fix to Seraphine's lore, make her a Demacian mage. Turn her into a mage that hid her powers because "muh persecution" and eventually fled the city to try to live in peace. Keep the parts about her hearing the voices of all things but as a melody that she can't quite make out so that she can say to Skarner that he sounds familiar as opposed to just using his people's corpses as AAA batteries. Now she's a musical mage who's roaming the land to find a place she belongs and is becoming famous for singing in various towns and cities as a way to earn money. Bam, instantly justify her mistreatment of Skarner and give a reason for her rising pop star status
Sona 2.0 with Ahri's e on her ultimate and Neeko's Q, she doesn't deserve an ultimate skin 😤. Better give skins to forgotten champions riot (for example: Ornn, Skarner, Kassadin and Lissandra). Or rework Sona, would be better than releasing a copy of her.
I feel like when talking about Seraphine's similarities to Sona, youre ignoring the fact that if Sona were to receive a VGU, she would probably have gotten a kit very similar to this. Calling Seraphine skillshot dependent, while true, seems to be the route that Riot wants to go for most of their VGUs. And removing a lot of auto-target skills has been one way for them to do that. Sona probably would have recieved a straight-line poke (something akin to karmas burst or maybe even a wave shot that goes thru minions like seraphines E) as he Q. Seraphines W is like a combination of Sona's W and E, allowing healing and move speed. Sure it is situational. But if youre playing her support, youre probably going to prioritize using the Echo passive on this spell, especially if you are able to purchase rylai's. I don't know if Riot would have combined her W and E into anything like this, but it would have been a good thing to do to update her kit and maybe replace one of those spells with some more utility of some kind. This could really help make her into a less Ult-dependent champion, where the majority of her usefulness comes down to landing that ultimate. im not a pro player. im not even gold. but i think the "borrowed" aspect is kind of....putting it lightly. Seraphines kit is not different enough.

And yeah i thougt it looked quite interesting but after realizing that it was a new champ i just dont think she can stand out in the crowd like others she just feels like an reworked Champion. To your point about Champs with grabs yeah there are alot but their visual designs are completly different and have things which make them uniqe but i miss that on seraphim. I dont hate the champ it just dosent feel like a new addition but more like a scrapped Sona reworked changed into a new Champ.
Glad to see some critisism, the whole channel and your business runs on League so while it would be easy to simp for Riot, glad to see that isn't the case. Am I too optimistic to think that the massive amount of backlash would at least force Riot to make some small amount of change? Besides the glaring Sona 2.0 issue, it's as if the lore team saw the balance team getting ripped on everytime a new champ comes out and was like "hold my beer" we can piss off people too! Her look literally could be from the Starguardian universe or stepped out of some tween's closet in our modern times, it is jarring bad and stands out so, so bad if it's supposed to be from Piltover. Nothing about it looks Piltovian. It's quite obvious her Runeterran self was an afterthought and they had to link it to something and somebody who didn't think to check just went uh uhhh Skarner hasn't got much connection to anything, lets link them somehow, and 2 minutes later her lore was done. It's such a pisspoor effort on Riot's part and just reeks of her being made entirely for the purpose of drumming up social media hype and getting people interested in K/DA again and to sell skins. I could literally write a better lore for Seraphine in 10 minutes than whatever BS Riot has done. It really cheapens the brand and makes you less invested in the world they're trying to keep you in.

Honestly I really love Seraphine. Not only for her desgin, but she's just amazing in battle. I love her more then Sona. I love her personality, her attacks I've won a heck lots of battles with her! I don't think she's horrible or some sort of copy. Can she fight? Yes. Are her abilities easy to understand? Yes! Is it a lazy character design? I don't really think so I love her skin-tones, I don't rlly care where she comes for or that her aesthetic is complete out of place from where she's supposed to be from. She's pretty! I just love her. I totally recommend trying her out before judging her immediately.
Riot should have made Seraphine a targonian aspect of song or something. That would have maybe explained her magic floating platform and starry aesthetic (although it might be too similar looking to zoe). You could turn her motivation into uniting people with music and advocating for peace. Being a pop star may not fit with the role of an Aspect, but then she gets to keep her basic motivations and personality without involving the brakern
I actually think that seraphine is an AKB48 inspired character. They are a japanese idol girl group. And they have an anime version. And in the anime version, the characters use that somehow similar stage seraphine was using. Also, not to mention the normal skin of hers with somehow the same costume of AKB48.
well, just to make a point, about Seraphine being a rework for Sona : I do think Seraphine is closer to Sona than, lets say, New Taric was from his old version. All in all, being close to the champion isn't usually a valid point when thinking about the question "is that a rework ?" as some rework for very old champions only have 1-2 abilities in common anyway. Even the feeling when playing isn't a very good indicator : new Taric was a completely different champ to play and still this was a "rework". Taric rework only borrowed the identity as a sup, and (to an extend) his "identity" as fifth age armor taric ... and added some lore to an old character who didn't have that much. It made gameplay kind of more healthy by giving back to Taric a place in the league when he wasn't really played that much. To me, Sona is one of those character (like old taric) with nearly nothing as a lore (compared to other new champs). Her only identity up to now was indeed being the only champ with "song based abilities". Seraphine seems (given balance change are made in time) to just be an upgraded version of Sona : healthy poke, CC in general and ult ("can be avoided" but more deadly if taken). More lore, still abilities based on music ... It's not to the point you'd call it a VGU, but still, it feels more like a rework than a real new champ.
Riot needs to create her to expand league universe and to attract players tho. And for the mere fact: every champ deserves an ultimate skin so stop hating bijjes Edit: try to understand the gaming industry sometimes
To be honest Riot has messed up big time with Seraphine only released for $$$ they put very little effort into her lore and focused only on the KDA aspect of things while I understand they wanted to do something different this is about the same As blizzard releasing diablo immortals for their main presentation at blizzcon and then partnering up with activision to sink their company if riot keeps this up they may find themselves along with tencent needing to recreate league from the ground up as league of legends world became something else new entirely based off of the lore you wouldn't know anything about the champions or the world they lived in without lore and none of their abilities would have any sense a major example of this being Katarina who literally threw herself into a fray to correct a mistake of her own overconfidence keeping the scar on her face as a reminder to always complete the task at hand no matter how little it seemed
What i think it would be cool if riot did is this: seraphine is actually a psycopath that takes joy in torturing the brackern inside the crystal, she also wants to dominate piltover and use her magic to brainwash the people. Wich could connect to the battlecast skin line, as some sort of civil war broke loose after seraphine brainwashed everyone in piltover and viktor offered to improve the zaun people so that they could fight off the threat (sorry for the horrible english)
I really don’t mind Seraphine I understand her lore could use a bit more improvement but as long as I can play her and she’s not incredibly broken I’m okay with her
The lore was the nail in the coffin for me, especially coming hot off spirit blossom which in my opinion was a massive success in introducing Yone in a cool way we didn't expect. I thought maybe they could do this for Seraphine too it was so perfect, piltover has been kind of neglected in the lore and Scarner has seen even more neglect combining these two narratives gave them the perfect opportunity to bring back certain lore points that might turn some head like the hextech crystals. For example one of my favorite champs lorewise is Sylas because he brought something back into the light that a lot of people newer to the lore didn't know about, Demacias huge prejudice towards mages. They could've done the same thing with Seraphine but chose to cash in on the toxic positivity that exists in social media today and kpop stans. They really flopped imo

I thought Seraphine's design was inspired from the characters in the anime called AKB0048, the anime was based on a real Japanese group AKB48. AKB0048 "the anime" performed their music even though it is banned all over the universe. They are performing songs while fighting the government and protecting their fans. They have this device like what Seraphine have. That floating platform was part of their performance. And I think Sera was cool. Sona and Seraphine was both my main though

They tried their best, they would have to rework the music videos and rehire the vocal artists to sing the same thing again, make the animators get rid of her scenes that probably took months and her vocal singer is a small indie singer and would love to be hired by a big company. Its best they just rework her lore etc etc

Also on the lore, although Seraphine's parents were "poor" and from Zaun, and with Piltover famously not wanting the Zaunites to ever come to the surface...she just migrated to Piltover.
And although her parents were poor, they bought her a hextech crystal. And then they built her a platform. And then she's famous in both Zaun and Piltover.
Where does any of that follow? Never once in her lore did she mention singing, aside from "hearing other peoples' songs. And every issue she had was solved by her "poor" parents who are never given any characterization, even though they are more important to her lore than she is! She's like a completely passive side character in her own lore, outside of the final sentence that just proclaims she's suddenly famous.
Like. Come on. At least give us something about the song(s) she sings that simultaneously appeals to both Piltovans and Zaunites. Maybe something about the Zaun guardian spirit/goddess, Janna. A brief snippet to justify her popularity would be all that's needed.
Like her covers, seraphine should’ve at least have her own song like Jinx music video. So that way when she cast her ultimate she can quote her lyrics instead of “OUUUUUOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!””

The problem is not that she's a copy of Sona, it's that she's an upgrade of Sona. Sona suffers from a similar problem of a lot of older champions in that her kit is very subtle and way too dependent on her ult to make an impact. Just because a few abilities are different doesn't make Seraphine unlike a VGU, because her kit seems like a reimagining of Sona into something that is more engaged in the fight. The final nail in the coffin is that her character design, that of an ethereal floating musical woman is so similar.
actually her kit seems more similar to Neeko's than sona's, sona is the better support and has short range while Seraphine is more of a wave clear and poke mage, Seraphine honestly does better playing mid than she does playing support as her Q can accidentally steal your adc's farm.
i think it feels like the rework of sona and they just made a new champ so they don't have to spend money reworking a dead character like sona.

This, instead of giving Sona a desperately needed rework kit wise. This only seems to make her redundant. It helps that Seraphine's lore is not all that fitting to begin with so it only begs the question more, "Why attach this kit that is basically an improved Sona kit, to a newly designed champion that seems hastily thought out at best. While you could have just, y'know? Given it to Sona, she's right there already in need of an upgrade".

Personally, I have nothing against duplicate champion kits or themes. Lux/Morgana & Diana/Leona have basically the same kit, Annie & Brand are both pyromancers in the most literal sense, so why NOT have another musician? It's not like music isn't a thing in Runeterra.
But the problem was execution.
Last year, they said "we have plans to make next year's worlds the biggest yet." in their BTS video of setting up last year's worlds, meaning they already knew they were going to have Seraphine. They only cared about bringing back KDA, cause it was stupid successful. So at most, let's be generous and say a year and a half of prep to get her lore until they started releasing her soundcloud & twitter stuff.
They spread themselves too thin! There's no way you can get everything set up that quickly; run feedback tests, record her music, build her model, hold auditions for both her singing voice & in-game voice, create all the art, the VFX, the SFX, bug test, balance test, the 5-set comic series, and the two separate lore without something suffering.
Something had to be rushed, and to a lot of fans, that was the voicelines, the in-game model, the design choices for default in general, and the in-game lore. And that last one betrays the core fanbase a lot.
[[EDIT: Getting a lot of repeat questions about the Diana/Leona bit, and since no one wants to read all the comments (don't blame you), here we go.
Diana & Leona both have dives, both have a survivability ability that does damage for some reason, have passives involving light that need to be proc'd to utilize their kits to the fullest extent, have multiple ways to stick to their opponent, and have an AoE ultimate that keeps multiple targets from running. (And yes, I do know Diana ulti was originally the dive, but I'm talking about now and not release)
And if you can't see that it's the same kit just with different focuses on numbers & team role, then I'm sorry but you're in denial. Also I'm *NOT* complaining that it's a bad thing, cause it's like the Yin/Yang thing with each other since launch, and I find that pretty awesome!]]

I was just about to say. If Sona joined KDA, it’d be to be their pianist because she’s mute. I really think they would have reworked her and given her a KDA skin if she wasn’t mute. They wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble to make this champion. I used to be a Sona OTP and I can definitely say I’m a little frustrated with what Riot has done with this new champ, Seraphine.
I like that lore of using the kind bubbly personality exploiting a whole race of peaceful skarners (it's actually very popstar-esque). Think about how the merchandise of real pop-stars is made by sweatshops then they go on tv giggle laugh and talk about how they care about everyone. Probably not what they meant to go for but it's kinda spot on.

Or they could have included things in her lore, that she told her parents that her crystal is talking to her and they deemed her crazy. They could have made her escape an asylum with the crystal. Make her go to Skarner and try to give back the crystal, and then the crystal would decide to help her spread the story of the crystals in order to free them or something.
Man there could have been so many possabilities to make her a literall hero for Skarner's race and just give her more depth as a character overall. They could have made her a crazy psycho and experimented with that, or make her a really good character by trying ot help the brackern. So many missed opportunities...

Even as a person who really likes Kpop, I probably wouldn't waste my money on getting her. I have been playing League of legends for only about two or three years now, so I might not know much about the development of a champion and the lore as a casual player, but it's so obvious that Seraphine is just a champion that is supposed to be a cash grab by Riot.
You can tell that Riot is getting lazier and lazier with the new champions they are releasing. I can understand that it's not easy coming up with new champion designs, lore, personality, and unique champion kits. But to ignore the whole premise of what makes a League of legends champion a champion is just asking for backlash from the community that cares for the champions they play. Not all their newest champions are bad, but Seraphine might be the worst case so far of Riot running out of ideas.
Her design is meh in my opinion and her kit just seems like a combination of Sona, Ahri, and Neeko. Her gameplay doesn't really look fun and it just looks like a poorer substitute for Sona mid. If she didnt float on that little hoverboard thingy and actually floated in the air like Zoe or just walked, then I probably wouldn't have disliked her design as much.
The way her skin works is just annoying and the skins aren't even that good tbh. I feel bad for the Orin players who have to wait a long time just to get a new skin, while Seraphine is getting a ultimate skin on release.
In Conclusion, she is just not that interesting of a champion and if Riot doesn't change anything about her to fit into the lore of League of legends, a lot of people wont find her interesting. Also, people, please stop harassing the singer and voice actress of Seraphine. If you don't like the champion, complain to Riot, not the voice actress or the singer.

Old graves was the one that got reworked cause he also had a bad thematic dissonance... he was a shotgun wielder who used a grenade launcher instead. Assuming the same happens here (not guarenteed, the argument that she is in a different niche to Sona which might help avoid the issue... her being in the meta won’t immediately push Sona out of the meta and might actually be the opposite... sera Sona bot lane might be a thing) there is no guarentee Sona will be the one getting a rework (though that might not be a bad thing)

Played her and honestly she feels like playing Sona but with more a middlaner focuse than support focused that is pretty much it, theme is same music based, both float, their kits are way to overlapping can't call them same but the similarities are endless they honestly fused sonas w and e into Sera's W they both boost basic attack with casting 3 spells I could go on.... For me honestly Sera came out from someones idea of a rework for Sona.

I've been watching ProGuides for a while now and I'm constantly getting the impression that they're always exclusively on Riot's side on all matters. Does anybody else get this impression? Maybe I'm exaggerating or maybe this is a widely known thing already.
The content is always trying to say something like "Yeah, Riot messed up, but that's ok! Keep playing anyway and forget about these mistakes" or helping Riot sell us stuff by saying "I can't wait to try this new skin on". It's hard to believe that they're giving us an unbiased opinion. The content doesn't feel truthful.
About Seraphine. To me, it makes no sense for her to move around on a stage instead of just walking around. It feels weird. A champion that we associate with the real world having a floating stage. There are too many champions already. Just fix the buggy client and we'll be happy!

Skarner is one of my mains. This showed me that Riot literally does not give a Twitch’s ass about monstrous champions like Skarner and the lore behind them is an afterthought. Its like they decided to say, here your monster who has been taken advantage of for years has someone who can be the catalyst for a horrifying reveal connected to Camille’s family, but naw, we Brackern are ok with being exploited. Combined with their portrayal of Sylas, I see they kinda don’t understand the implications of saying a minority should be fine with being exploited.

The only thing I don't like about Sera is the Brackern part of her lore. With champions like Camille, Ekko and a few others using hextech crystals made from Skarner's kind, Seraphine was aware that it had a soul, but used it anyway. Doubt that other champions know that they're using a living soul for weapons or in Camille's case to live. Even the crystals are used for chests when players are opening them for loot. I feel like Riot hates Brackern.
Love these kit by kit comparisons and would love to see more of them. Overall a really great video thanks for taking the time.

A simple fix to Seraphine's lore, make her a Demacian mage. Turn her into a mage that hid her powers because "muh persecution" and eventually fled the city to try to live in peace. Keep the parts about her hearing the voices of all things but as a melody that she can't quite make out so that she can say to Skarner that he sounds familiar as opposed to just using his people's corpses as AAA batteries. Now she's a musical mage who's roaming the land to find a place she belongs and is becoming famous for singing in various towns and cities as a way to earn money. Bam, instantly justify her mistreatment of Skarner and give a reason for her rising pop star status
Sona 2.0 with Ahri's e on her ultimate and Neeko's Q, she doesn't deserve an ultimate skin 😤. Better give skins to forgotten champions riot (for example: Ornn, Skarner, Kassadin and Lissandra). Or rework Sona, would be better than releasing a copy of her.

I feel like when talking about Seraphine's similarities to Sona, youre ignoring the fact that if Sona were to receive a VGU, she would probably have gotten a kit very similar to this. Calling Seraphine skillshot dependent, while true, seems to be the route that Riot wants to go for most of their VGUs. And removing a lot of auto-target skills has been one way for them to do that. Sona probably would have recieved a straight-line poke (something akin to karmas burst or maybe even a wave shot that goes thru minions like seraphines E) as he Q. Seraphines W is like a combination of Sona's W and E, allowing healing and move speed. Sure it is situational. But if youre playing her support, youre probably going to prioritize using the Echo passive on this spell, especially if you are able to purchase rylai's. I don't know if Riot would have combined her W and E into anything like this, but it would have been a good thing to do to update her kit and maybe replace one of those spells with some more utility of some kind. This could really help make her into a less Ult-dependent champion, where the majority of her usefulness comes down to landing that ultimate.

Besides the glaring Sona 2.0 issue, it's as if the lore team saw the balance team getting ripped on everytime a new champ comes out and was like "hold my beer" we can piss off people too!
Her look literally could be from the Starguardian universe or stepped out of some tween's closet in our modern times, it is jarring bad and stands out so, so bad if it's supposed to be from Piltover. Nothing about it looks Piltovian.
It's quite obvious her Runeterran self was an afterthought and they had to link it to something and somebody who didn't think to check just went uh uhhh Skarner hasn't got much connection to anything, lets link them somehow, and 2 minutes later her lore was done. It's such a pisspoor effort on Riot's part and just reeks of her being made entirely for the purpose of drumming up social media hype and getting people interested in K/DA again and to sell skins.
I could literally write a better lore for Seraphine in 10 minutes than whatever BS Riot has done. It really cheapens the brand and makes you less invested in the world they're trying to keep you in.

That would have maybe explained her magic floating platform and starry aesthetic (although it might be too similar looking to zoe). You could turn her motivation into uniting people with music and advocating for peace. Being a pop star may not fit with the role of an Aspect, but then she gets to keep her basic motivations and personality without involving the brakern

I have tried her in pbe, and she feels exactly like sona, just better. You still are vastly underplaying exactly how similar these champs are.
I actually think that seraphine is an AKB48 inspired character. They are a japanese idol girl group. And they have an anime version. And in the anime version, the characters use that somehow similar stage seraphine was using. Also, not to mention the normal skin of hers with somehow the same costume of AKB48.
Sona and LeBlanc mixed, a champion who literally in lore can' hear dead people. (This social media mix have nothing to do with the lore)
well, just to make a point, about Seraphine being a rework for Sona :
I do think Seraphine is closer to Sona than, lets say, New Taric was from his old version. All in all, being close to the champion isn't usually a valid point when thinking about the question "is that a rework ?" as some rework for very old champions only have 1-2 abilities in common anyway.
Even the feeling when playing isn't a very good indicator : new Taric was a completely different champ to play and still this was a "rework". Taric rework only borrowed the identity as a sup, and (to an extend) his "identity" as fifth age armor taric ... and added some lore to an old character who didn't have that much. It made gameplay kind of more healthy by giving back to Taric a place in the league when he wasn't really played that much.
To me, Sona is one of those character (like old taric) with nearly nothing as a lore (compared to other new champs). Her only identity up to now was indeed being the only champ with "song based abilities". Seraphine seems (given balance change are made in time) to just be an upgraded version of Sona : healthy poke, CC in general and ult ("can be avoided" but more deadly if taken). More lore, still abilities based on music ... It's not to the point you'd call it a VGU, but still, it feels more like a rework than a real new champ.
Riot needs to create her to expand league universe and to attract players tho. And for the mere fact: every champ deserves an ultimate skin so stop hating bijjes

To be honest Riot has messed up big time with Seraphine only released for $$$ they put very little effort into her lore and focused only on the KDA aspect of things while I understand they wanted to do something different this is about the same As blizzard releasing diablo immortals for their main presentation at blizzcon and then partnering up with activision to sink their company if riot keeps this up they may find themselves along with tencent needing to recreate league from the ground up as league of legends world became something else new entirely based off of the lore you wouldn't know anything about the champions or the world they lived in without lore and none of their abilities would have any sense a major example of this being Katarina who literally threw herself into a fray to correct a mistake of her own overconfidence keeping the scar on her face as a reminder to always complete the task at hand no matter how little it seemed
What i think it would be cool if riot did is this: seraphine is actually a psycopath that takes joy in torturing the brackern inside the crystal, she also wants to dominate piltover and use her magic to brainwash the people. Wich could connect to the battlecast skin line, as some sort of civil war broke loose after seraphine brainwashed everyone in piltover and viktor offered to improve the zaun people so that they could fight off the threat (sorry for the horrible english)

The lore was the nail in the coffin for me, especially coming hot off spirit blossom which in my opinion was a massive success in introducing Yone in a cool way we didn't expect. I thought maybe they could do this for Seraphine too it was so perfect, piltover has been kind of neglected in the lore and Scarner has seen even more neglect combining these two narratives gave them the perfect opportunity to bring back certain lore points that might turn some head like the hextech crystals. For example one of my favorite champs lorewise is Sylas because he brought something back into the light that a lot of people newer to the lore didn't know about, Demacias huge prejudice towards mages. They could've done the same thing with Seraphine but chose to cash in on the toxic positivity that exists in social media today and kpop stans. They really flopped imo

When she was going to be released i tought she was gonna be a singing magical marai playing into the mermaid siren-song trope, which would have been ten thousand times better if you ask me.
I thought Seraphine's design was inspired from the characters in the anime called AKB0048, the anime was based on a real Japanese group AKB48. AKB0048 "the anime" performed their music even though it is banned all over the universe. They are performing songs while fighting the government and protecting their fans.
They have this device like what Seraphine have. That floating platform was part of their performance. And I think Sera was cool. Sona and Seraphine was both my main though

You're being too selfish. They tried their best, they would have to rework the music videos and rehire the vocal artists to sing the same thing again, make the animators get rid of her scenes that probably took months and her vocal singer is a small indie singer and would love to be hired by a big company.

Me personally, it's her lore, voice lines, and design; all of it just seems so...disjointed (hollow? Half-baked?) whatever word it is.
Have you not seen the world of Runeterra? She does not fit in the League universe. Its like bringing a modern K-POP idol into a medieval world
