When I found the bootlegs of the "glam" era albums some 12 years ago I was blown away. The musicianship was supreme. Before then I only knew the 90s stuff. It seems the sacrifice for success was to the detriment of the music. Don't get me wrong, 90s Pantera was special, but this stuff is a different kind of special. Appeals to different folk. Perhaps its because I'm no longer an angry teenager, but I appreciate the older music more these days
@InSparks I'm with ya man. I'll just drop this here for anyone who can appreciate it - ruclips.net/video/K6KR0KHx1L0/видео.html ---- PANTERA Live 88'-We'll Meet Again -Born In The Basement
I like METAL MAGIC n the mornings later the day goes the heavier the music gets .all PANTERA RULES! Sometimes I'll mix it up . First album 2 latest album, it's weird 2 hear nothing on but the radio then g.d. electric but so cool the transition from Terry glaze 2 Phil Anselmo love all PANTERA RULES !
I don't know why you guys are ripping on this track for being a power ballad. Cemetery gates, Hollow, This Love... Pantera had a power ballad on every album they made. Suicide Note Part 1 doesn't even have an electric guitar on it.
+Christian Allinson Fischer I agree man, great tune. I assume anybody that rips on the old stuff are just young fuckers who have an axe to grind or are just not mature enough to appreciate things yet.
@@Nissardpertugiu you sure? I think Phil didn’t join till like 87 or 88 and this was released in 88 but it’s been so long that I’m thinking it was released in 89?
My cousin gave me this on tape in 2000-2001, somewhere around the release of Reinventing the Steel and I was absolutely confused. You only ever heard rumors that Pantera had released some stuff before Cowboys, which was universally considered to be their "debut". Listening to it now, this song pretty much announced what was about to come from "future" Pantera, mainly Dimme's solo stuff and Phill's switching between several music styles in single song, something which became sorta Pantera's signature when it comes to vocals.
This song means even more to me now after my mom has sadly passed away this week. She was the coolest mom with the best taste in rock and metal growing up in that era. RIP Mom ♥️🙏
Not only is the solo amazing, note the Rhythm behind the solo, Dime was a beast! * SAVAGE! * Riffs for days! He could of used that Rhythm backing to make a whole song !
Best metal solo ever written. It was The Sleep for many years but I guess as I get older I lean more to this one. Crazy that one man has my top 2 and Floods is top 10.
Jesus. Look at Phil, lol. Obviously going for the Glam look then. I got this as a cassette copy around 1992 or 3,and never saw the cover. Madd Maxx Hammer of then Z-Rock gave it to me as he was a friend of the boys back then. Phil used to hit those high notes. This is my fave off the album as well.
80s Pantera (Dime) and Savatage (Criss Oliva) sound practically identical. Then Cowboys From Hell gave the Metal scene a sonic makeover and a sex change. Criss left the world with a shot heard everywhere though. Dime playing Edge Of Thorns would've been interesting.
That's nice work. My favorite song off the album. I also dig your remaster of PST '88...and all the others of course! Never sounded better...I really, really want to get these remasters so I can put em on CD. No Pantera fan I know has this full album yet! Its disgraceful! lol.
Anyone else feel like this song ends way too soon? Like it starts to fade out right as the song begins to reach its climax. Should've gone on for at least 8 more bars. The last 45 seconds are the most intense @ 3:12
I remember them playing this song at Joe’s garage in Fort Worth yeah they won’t be able to ever reproduce those songs ever again. It won’t sound right especially the album Project in the jungle those days are gone
R.I.P Dimebag Darrell, it’s been so long since you were taken from us so soon, if you weren’t taken that day,, you could had did a reunion, this song made me emotional, this album should be reissued but that’s not gonna happen, I never considered this glam, this is more traditional heavy metal, maybe the debut but this?? not very much, parts of this album sounds like leftovers over from kill ‘em all, vocals some points sound like Dave Mustaine, James Hatfield and Rob Halford, it’s my favourite pantera album!!
I love Pantera the brutallity of cowboys, vulgar, far beyond, trendkill, and the Steel, but i totally dig power metal as well...its like hair metal without all the cheese and simple sex songs, its like hair metal with debth
@doctorshifty83 Thanks bro. I'm sorry but I won't be releasing the audio tracks for download. The remixing and hosting is a protest of sorts to demand a remastered release from the band while CDs are still being made - which in case if you haven't noticed, have about 3 years of life left as the format of choice (my band won't even bother to release one).
HAPPY FUCKING BIRTHDAY DIME 8/20/14 @ 11:58 LAST SONG OF THE NIGHT GOES OUT TO YOU MINE(AND ODDLY YOUR DADS) FAVORITE SONG RIP BROTHER 10 YEARS FAR TO LONG COME HOME SOON... GETCHA PULL
He wrote so many phenomenal solos, hard to choose one
Greatest electric guitar solo of all time? Definitely one of them.
My favorite solo of all time. Imo the greatest.
best solo he wrote in my opinion. so much soul. wish he was still about :(
and yet it gets put into the "before Pantera was Pantera" file, and is forgotten by most. Its a damn shame
For real
@Dafyd Maddz he was 22
@Dafyd Maddz sure Man I understand, but for some reason many people confused 1988 Power metal with 1983 Metal magic, where dime was 17.
@Dafyd Maddz right man, Shane they didnt perform those songs anymore since CFH was released. Anyways, have a good day friend
This is one of their best songs that nobody knows. I love it.
I also loooove this 🎵 🎶 incredible! ☺️☺️☺️🥰🥰🥰😁😁😁🙂🙂🙂🥳🥳🥳🔊🔊🔊I 🤞🏻 it would be back on Spotify
I fucking love this song. One of Dime's best solos imo
Amen brotha!
Floods is his best solo🤘🤘
This one is his best, no doubt.
Fellow Pantera fans. Please remember Dime was known as Diamond Darrell on Power Metal, not Dime or Dimebag.
Thank you.
Rip dime and vinnie, long live pantera
☹😢😢😭😭
This solos 1:55-2:47 is the best Diamond Darrell solo he’s ever put together. I know Floods is badass but this is easily the best. Raw soul
hard lines and sunken cheeks is better

Great song . Tears every time that solo drops .

Dime had plenty of those. This one, The Sleep, Floods.
All very emotional solos.
oh man i know what you mean - it's from another galaxy!
I thought it was just me 'bro. This solo is full of emotion, indeed.
Killer guitar solo!!!
Stephen Hill Fuckin right brother!! Amazing!
Darrell was one Bad Mofo...PERIOD !!!
3Reee!!!
Dimes best solo
Brothers are dead but music lives on. Rex and Phil, remember your legacy. Pantera deserves it.
And they did!

Top 2 Dimebag solo of *all time*. Easy, not even a challenge putting it up there.
this song fucking rules, period, fuck em
80s Pantera kicks ass 💪

best pre cowboys album and BEST "deep cut" dime solo, if not one of his best ever

Album was recorded iin1986
Elliott smith wrote more emotional songs at the age of 15

Heavy metal !

Hands down the best dimebag solo in my book!!
Love this album so much. The solo is a killer on this track.
If this was released 5 or 6 years earlier Pantera would have been the biggest glam metal band in history
This is not even glam. It's as it says power metal akin to queensryche or fates warning
best song I ever heard, just beautiful
One of the best Pantera song ever!

Likewise. I even though that it could have been another band named "Pantera", until internet hits our homes 😊
This riff kicks in you and are already a gangsta walking down the 80s valley of death.
You can definitely hear the roots of Cemetery Gates within this song. This is a masterpiece
Dimebag was one of the best shredders of the 80s. What a solo 🤘😎. I'm so thankful I saw him in 2004 at Donington
....when your heart can feel the solo....
This solo is beyond amazing.
The solo felt Dimebag poured his heart and soul into
I get goosebumps every single time I hear this solo.
Until we meet again is written on Dimes grave.

I have always loved this song. Saw 'em do this at Joe's Garage, The Basement, Metal Works, etc... all those years ago. Hey, is that a Moog?
Not very many people know this but this is one of dimebags longest solos on a Pantera song
That dime solo is a f’n A masterpiece
It’s like a prequel to Cemetery Gstes!
Pantera (1987-1990)
BEST ERA!
In my opinion, the best Pantera album, super vocals, the spirit of that time💯
One of Dime's best solos ❤
Dis pre-Cowboy Pantera with Phil is criminally underrated, they tried to be heavier but still glammy. Thanks God they finds own way
They need to re-release this album.
Now this is Dime in his prime, he will always go down as one of my favourite guitarists of all time

20 years. Love ya, Dime.
